The year is 2093 and the earth as we know it is no more. As most people predicted humanity wiped its own civilization out, but the ruins of their world and the remnants of their people cling to survival in a world as unforgiving to them as mankind once was to it. World war 3 took place in 2032, or rather it started then, nuclear reactors that were meltdown proof and way more efficient came into play in several so called 3rd world countries making oil and coal all but worthless as the developing nations turned their attention to nuclear power. Needless to say powerful nations whose economies depended upon oil were not going to stand for this, sanctions and even trade blockades were set up, the developing nations banded together calling themselves the coalition, while the united nations lead the oil dependent nations. lines were drawn in the sand nations all over the world found their nations to be their enemies.

It started with land raids and occupations or reactors or oil platforms, which eventually escalated to Airstikes and naval bombardments of said locations. fallout and oil spoils began to diminish the other resources and the fighting got really bloody then, almost 90% of the worlds population began to take up arms fighting for promises of food, water, and medical care all of which began to dwindle. Cities became battlefields, Hospitals overflowed, schools became barracks, it was a true hell on earth type situation. Yet no one had the resolve to fire off their nuclear arsenals, the united powers built powerful machines and suits of mechanized armor for their soldiers, the the coalition responded with bio-weapons known as the X-series. X-1 was a dangerous plague that was 100% fatal but its moderate infection rate made it only capable of limited destruction. The United Forces responded with orbital dropping walls to seal off cities with the plague. X-2 was modified from the X-1 series and the plague began to infect people with a violent rabies like state where they would spread the sickness while overheating turning them into violent human bombs who could break through the barriers. the X-3 series came after that where the biomass of the infected would mutate into powerful abominations capable of fighting tanks and power armored soldiers...the United Forces responded to that with nuclear bombs in the year 2054.

Civilization finally collapsed, the bombs killed the X-2's and X-3's, but it mutated the viral strains and sprayed them into the atmosphere. In short order the mutated monsters spread to every corner of the globe infecting plants, animals,and people. both factions ended the war immediately and pooled their remaining resources together but they had expended or destroyed nearly everything. Many fled into bunkers, others stayed and fought to their death, some tried in vain to hide. in the end the world we knew was given up to the mutants we had created. Nearly 40 years would pass, the virus and its mutants would prey upon the remainder of the worlds life, the seas, forests, cities, deserts, all places the virus would spread. As it did it absorbed and metabolized the radiation, which in turn sterilized the virus making it no longer infectious but temporarily boosting its mutational effects. the result is an entirely new world being born with every life form save for a few bunker dwelling humans being mutated into a new and in some cases unrecognizable form. with radiation levels reading safe for all the bunkers over the world humanity steps out into this new world to find several mysteries to unfold. satellites seem unresponsive, broadcasts and transmissions seem to only travel a couple of hundred meters, and mankind is no longer on the top of the food chain. Limited relics of the past exist but the ones which function will be as valuable as gold. but will humanity be rewarded for its perseverance or will it be crushed by the might of this new world?

(so to save us some complications we are gonna have this story take place in and around the Mediterranean sea, particularly hit hard by the war only two bunkers exist, one coalition bunker that was in Egypt's Alexandria and one United forces bunker located in Italy's Rome. There were nuclear strikes all over the surrounding area's but no direct hits. The Alexandria bunker is the only bunker players can be from and contact with the other one is currently unknown. the coalition had the luxury or nuclear reactors running their bunkers so they were able to keep a steady power supply and even had some technological advancements though very limited by the lack of any of the old worlds digital data. Even still captured intel from the war was stored in this bunker so power suits have been crafted and modified to act as optional survival equipment should you see fit. if the story gives you fallout vibes that's to be expected but the mutations are far more severe as its more focused around the virus and not the radiation. while this is a survival based story you can kinda customize your gear within reason so its more like an adventure. there are some powerful and mysterious beings out there not all of which are hostile and strange forces at play some of which can be harnessed. there will also be three slots open for special roles called the X-4 series, which are genetically modified virus infused super humans with limited superpowers.

Also given how many creatures could be produced you are welcome to create your own species or mutated life form. the sea will play an important but dangerous wildcard in this story as you will need it for food and sustenance, but you can also find some of your most powerful enemies i have planned there so be careful. rest assured my goal is not to kill your characters so most encounters will honestly be just contributions to the story, some however will be difficult as they will yield a particular reward like access to additional loot and tech. it is open world so you can do as you wish nut there is a hidden sub plot you can follow if you want to find the secrets of the world and maybe set up a sequel.

Finally i will be adding a factions list depicting the other playable factions within the story. you are welcome to create your own scavenger characters, or mutant characters if you wish but the most advanced technology allowable will come from the bunkers, for other factions they are limited to the basic weapons and equipment available today as most development stagnated during the war but the bunkers continued to develop. i only ask that all survivor and mutant populations be intelligent if you wish to play them.​

here is the cs page when we have at least 3 people we can get started. in the meantime i am going to work on my two characters.

behind massive 10 ton steel doors the survivors of the coalition have made their living for the past 40 years. essentially the bunker was a rapidly built hole in the ground that a 16 story tall building was put into. the surface level itself was wrapped in enough concrete and lead shielding to make it safe though many avoided it due to superstition and fear of a breech. Just below that are water treatment facilities and air purification facilities built closer tot he surface so they could extract water and air from, outside and filter it for the facility. A few times it has been in need of repair and thus engineers in the facility are absolutely mandatory. the floor below that holds loads of supplies such as dryfood, pureified water, survival gear, weapons and ammunition. it is put near the top floors to deter any potential raiders from venturing further if they manage to breach the facility. the fourth basement floor holds the security force barracks built beneath the supplies room to prevent lower levels from rushing the supplies in a panic and for quick response to the potential of a breech. also on this floor is the medical facility built here to reach their supplies quickly and have instant access to the security force if need be. below that are three floors of luxury condominiums for the elderly and leadership classes of the bunker. designed with comforts and amenities made to make life easier for the infirm, just as their close proximity to the medical facilities is important for the elderly. the next four floors hold family and recreational condo's one floor just below the luxury condo's are for freshly married couples, and those without children, the two floors below are for families with school age children, with the bottom residential floor being reserved for nursing mothers and pre-school age children with their parents. just below the residential floors is the mess hall which operates four restaurants, and a general cafeteria for those who don't wish for the social eating aspect or must return to work or school. below the mess hall is the school program and administrative floor where children are educated and the coalition monitors resources and outside radiation/virus levels. Below that is the recreational area where gyms, a theater, and a game room exist. finally the bottom floor is where the reactor is located along with the laboratory and the old x-4 lab. the reactor provides safe nuclear power to the entire facility, In over 40 years there has never once been a problem with it.

The bunker holds nearly 500 people all of whom are well fed and healthy which is more than most communities can say. their technology never stagnated and development continued but they know next to nothing about the exterior world as all sensors except their radiation and virus detection arrays were wiped out when the bombs fell. of the 500 people there only around 40 of them make up the security force with another 160 being or ready age for a combat situation, these low numbers make the bunker heavily dependent upon the structure itself for defense however they are confident in the scout teams ability to find a safe enough area to begin establishing a settlement. yet if all else fails the bunker is a nigh impregnable fortress.

The Ashen dwell within and around a place known as the ashen basin. nearly all of them are actually survivors from when the bombs fell mutated by the X-3 and a direct nuclear impact. while no two ashen are at the exact same stage of decay they all wind up deteriorated to some degree. their bodies are however immune to all diseases and parasites and they are notably stronger and faster than a normal human. most retain their memories and skills they had before becoming ashen. the ashen all possess the ability to unleash radioactive ash clouds that obscures vision and poisons those within it. many ashen actually use weapons from the war and are quite deadly to encounter. the population of this group is beleived to be as low as 2000, but a definitive number does not exist. snaking tunnels within the basin hide their population and keep them well hidden. most other factions just avoid the basin as the ashen are known to drag unfortunates into their tunnels where they are never seen again.

The church of mutah is a faction that has been growing rapidly as of late. initially it was a group of survivors who managed to take refuge in a church they were a peaceful and kind faction that helped everyone they could despite the fact that they lost many behind that practice. this was until one of their founding members Lewis Aufey ventured out into the wilderness of what was once Jerusalem. Upon returning he possessed some amazing power he claimed to be the divine power of god. with this power he has worked several miracles such as instantly purifying large bodies of water or calling down lightning to smite their foes. despite his old age he displays greater physical prowess than any other man in his group and can of course share this power with the followers.depite all of this he has many followers who question his actions seeing them as cruel and unmerciful and unfitting of the divine power, however they rarely last long. recently they have begun to militarize setting up for what Aufey calls a divine crusade. many beleive the otherworldly power Aufey found is one of many netaphysical energies left throughout the planet to tap into.

Free Scavisland is the network of subway tunnels occupied by the largest faction in the wilderness, the scavs, short for scavengers. They are the remnants of humanity that had to deal with the radiation, the virus, and the scarcity of resources. ravaged by disease and violent neighbors the scavs had never had a good life. but its been a livable life and in some cases for brief moments joy filled. they are free to take what they want, love who they want and live how they want but must accept that they have to fight for any and all of that. They tend to form tight nit supportive community groups that use the relatively cleared and safe tunnels to travel all over the cities they call home. with a population of over 24,000 spread throughout dozens of communities all around the Mediterranean their weapons tend to be old reworked versions of war era weapons and gear. most see the bunker dwellers as a problem, a return to old ways that wiped out the world, while other see them as a godsend with the technology and resources to unite the Scavs and form a powerful nation who could reclaim the world.

The sunken city is a unknown location that simply didn't exist before the war. none are sure how it arrived but it has been taking people along the coast from all factions never to see them again. they arrive in very advanced submarines with technology rivaling even the coalition bunker. however no one has ever seen an actual member of this faction just their strange submarines and the mechanical tendrils that come from them to snatch up people.

All factions with the exception of the Ashen and the Sunken are playable and minor mutations are acceptible within all factions within reason. the X-4's are supposed to be the top of the superhuman ladder and my current X-4 ronin is on the low end of that as his power is one that will grow more potent over time. to apply for an x-4 position simply claim them here. only 3 others are available for now. one bunker guard x-4 and two scout x-4's

scavers are welcome and free with alot less rules to govern them then bunker dwellers however to say they are a unified body would be a mistake. the biggest danger to scavers can in most cases be other scavers as they are more than willing to kill one another for resources. though admittedly its still frowned upon to be a murderer and few are straight forward about it.

members of the church of mutah need not actually be devout, they can receive power from Aufey if they work well regardless of faith. that said Aufey's power is akin to magic and he holds the largest amount of it and has been known to smite the openly blasphemous, so just dont get in his face and call him out on his bullcrap and your liable to do fine.

you can form sub factions within the scavs if you want but for the meantime all other metaphysical sources of power are restricted as more will be uncovered in the canon story.
 
Update

I changed the cs page to reflect the ability to be in multiple factions and a few things may need explaination.

firstly being a scav is basically the neutral party here. just because you are a scav doesnt mean other scavs are your allies, they dont really operate like that. a scav is free and independant, they can choose to form alliances or be lone wolves, some make raiding gangs and attack others, some live off the land far from gatherings for that very reason. its hard for a scav but it makes for hardy people.

X-4 powers tend to have a basis in high science and revolve around energy and genetic augmentation. X-4s tend to be of peak human physicality on average with most being beyond this. their abilities would include things like telekinesis, electrical generation and discharge, plasma blasts, greater physical augmentations and the like. think street to building level superheroes but without the spandex.

Mutations are more physical in nature and may include extra limbs, regeneration, chameleon skin, enhanced attributes, and other traits that benefit survival like slowed metabolisms. while not all scavs possess them some of them have formidable mutations that have allowed them to easier tame the wilderness.

blessings are like enchantments given to followers of St.Aufey they are psudo magical effects that are not really grounded in reality but still have limits. things like falling slowly or gliding, weapons or armor that is supernaturally effective. some even get special abilities like throwing fire from their hands or healing others, but these are usually reserved for those who are high ranking members and close to the saint himself.​

awesome well the cs page is up and i'm churning out lore as we speak ill extract all i have from this page to make the lore page and the main rp can begin soon as we have like 3 more completed cs's. if you need help let me know. if its not typed up here odds are its floating around in my noggin somewhere
