TV & Film People And Events That Need Movies

Look at me, I’m Sandra Dee
Is there anyone throughout history who you think needs a biopic? Or an event that happened that you think would translate well to film or TV?

I would personally love a movie about Jennie Jerome/Lady Randolph Churchill. Or a biopic about Marie Antoinette that does NOT involve her having an affair with Count Fersen.

Would love a movie on the Battle of Castle Itter, May 4-5, 1945. Major Gangl of the German Wehrmacht and several of his soldiers joined forces with several American troops in Austria to defend Castle Itter from a Company of SS soldiers. During the battle/siege Major Gangl was shot through the head by an SS sniper, however the Wehrmacht and US Army forces held out long enough that a US armored relief force arrived and scattered the SS attackers. The war ended a couple days later, which makes it kind of sad that Major Gangl didn't get to survive that long.

The Fall of Constantinople, 1453.
  • You have a great city, the center of a once noble and cultured civilization
  • A powerful enemy led by a clever, scheming king, intent on unifying that part of the world and taking the city's wealth and prestige.
  • A disparate and desperate defense coalition of defenders against overwhelming odds (there was in fact a Turk who, with his band of men, helped defend the city and remained loyal to their deaths)
  • Political intrigue, betrayal and the agony of split loyalties,
  • Epic battles on land and sea.
  • The LAST Roman Emperor personally leading the defense and when the city finally falls he casts away his imperial regalia and leads his remaining men in a last charge.

Instant Oscar bait

Hey, I'm sorry the WWII RP didn't start up. Nobody was interested in it. :(

Ayn Rand needs a biopic. She may be an awful human being maybe but her books are fantastic.
I'd like The Wall from 1982 to be remade today as a faithful recreation of the original. It's based on the lives of Roger Waters and the original singer of Pink Floyd, Syd Bennet.

Hm. An Ayn Rand sounds interesting. I don't know much about her, but the fact that she was an awful human being kind of sounds fascinating.

A movie of all the events leading up to the twin towers attack directed by Christopher Nolan. I know it sounds weird but it would be cool

She was a pretty extreme libertarian. Pro laissez-faire and anti-altruism. A lot of her philosophy (Objectivism) can be pretty much summed up as systemic selfishness. Those who had power earned and deserved it, and it was not their right to use that power to help the disadvantaged. Asking someone else for help in any way (short of paying them) was the equivalent of infringing on their rights.

If you've ever played Bioshock, you might interpret the game as a giant 'fuck you' to Ayn Rand.

Ah, I see. That does sound like it would make an interesting movie.

A movie a out the life of George Orwell would be fantastic, he wa such an interesting man. It could explore his expierence when he pretended to be extremely poor in the north of England, his time living on the streets of Paris and London as we'll a son him fighting in the Spanish civil war.

That also sounds incredibly interesting.

Movie about the Forrestal. It was the biggest carrier in the U.S. when serving in Vietnam and suffered a fire on deck that killed many of its soldiers and put it out of commission. Because of the ship's bomb load (old WWII bombs), the ship was constantly in danger of literally exploding.

Well, that sounds incredibly interesting.

There are several things that I think deserve a movie. Firstly, I would love to see a movie about the Crusades. Not one that glorifies one side and damns the other, but one that semi-accurately shows what led up to it and the results of it, like how it increased the trade in Europe or led to the Islamic terrorists of today. I would also love a movie about Constantine and his rise to power.
