The sky is veiled in a blush pink, a half moon edging the mountain crests. You're lounged snugly on your three-seat couch, the television switched to a channel you're barely paying mind to. Your phone rests in your left hand, nearly slipping from your grip as you doze off. Your phone buzzes violently, rousing open your bloodshot eyes. An urgent alert dominates your screen, playing aloud the unnerving one-tone ringing of what you assume to be an amber alert. Your gaze shifts to scan it, but is cut off by an identical noise emanating far louder from your television.
Eyebrows furrowed, sleepiness abandons you entirely. This must be serious. You read the words as they scroll across the screen, disbelief rattling your every cell.
'Stay inside at all costs. Do not go outdoors.'
What could possibly be happening to warrant that? Now shaken with adrenaline and disorientation, you jump to your feet and gawk out of the living room window to gather whatever information you can. A flock of birds screech in unison, beelining in a random direction. There's more than you've ever seen.
Suddenly your eyes strain as you toil with your brain over what you're looking at. Small sort of particles spangle the horizon from cloud to grass with an indescribable appearance. The closest thing you can liken it to is what you see in your vision when an aura migraine is coming on, but they're small and everywhere. You can't fully grasp what it is. You can't even completely absorb it correctly. It's so foreign that you wonder if it's even real.
Through the still snowfall of cryptic fragments, you spot your neighbor opening their front door. Morbid curisoity and horror rip through your veins as you watch him step out into the field of light flecks. And then, like nothing you've ever seen before, he's warped and mangled and squashed into nothing, as though the things outside were miniature black holes frozen in time. You nearly vomit from the disturbing visual, now feeling faint and petrified. This is horrifyingly real, and the television has gone silent.
- - -
20 years later, the population of the world has reduced by an overwhelming percentage. The day of the particles first showing up was ages ago, and lasted months. People starved inside of their homes, disappeared within the enigmatic clutch of this anomaly, or went mad. Only a sliver of humanity lives on, dazed and permanently shaken from the unexplained phenomenon that overtook their existence with no issue.
It left one day as sudden as it came, never showing up again. Now in this post-apocalyptic realm, you attempt to live on with an entirely changed outlook on the future. Will there be a future for long? Will humanity ever recover? Will this anomaly occur again?
You don't know if you'll ever gain the answers.

a set of rules to ensure that the roleplay thrives:
- First up: RPN has rules that we all need to adhere to regardless of our personal preference. Keep that in mind.
- Second: This plot is in the post-apocalyptic category. Your characters will likely have many flaws and issues. I'm not against turning away characters that I think are unrealistic for the theme. On that same note, try to keep your character true to the setting in any way you can!
- Third: One character each please! All forms submitted are applications and subject to possible denial. This isn't personal, I promise. Also please try to keep the genders even!
- Fourth: This roleplay is literate to advanced. Please do your best to write descriptive posts. What is your character thinking? Feeling? What have they gone through that pops up in their head from day to day? What do they smell and see?
- Fifth: I think one of the primary causes for the death of a roleplay is lack of activity. If you can, try to post once to twice a week. If you're unable to, communicate this to the group so we understand. We'll work with you!
- Sixth: Discord is required for OOC chat and planning. Keep this in mind if applying.
- Seventh: By all means, stir up as much drama as you'd like. But keep it IC. Never OOC.

Speculation about the disastrous anomaly twenty years prior leaves no unanimous answer. Some people claim that it's related to religious reckoning. Some think it's the Earth correcting itself, ridding the planet of human vermin to start fresh and heal. Some assume it's a misfired government experiment relating to discovery of a separate dimension, and ours was not compatible with its fourth dimensional matter, creating a sort of glitch. Most people just have flat out no idea at all.
Two years after the incident, every technological and societal structure from the modern world have ceased to exist, like it never was.
If you're old enough to have lived through the event, you'll recall the devastation. without any chance of restoring life before. A vast majority of the survivors have gone completely and indescribably mad, murderous urges dominating their minds. These are called "Voiders".
Animal life was also drastically reduced. Often the outdoors are frighteningly silent, with only three breeze to stir up an occasional sound.
There were once rumors of safehouses, but it's been years since anyone has heard about them.

The roles to apply for are listed below. Please keep in mind to try keeping the genders even!
The Direction |
They take on the role of leader, melding everyone together and keeping them united. They motivate and create structure that's so badly needed. It's never easy to carry a responsibility so large, but they wouldn't have it any other way.
The Caretaker |
They have extensive medical knowledge, and a desire to help. After losing someone, they never wanted to experience that again without knowing how to try and save them. They're often a comforting presence in a world of dark.
The Youth |
This is the only world they've ever known. Life before sounds like a fantasy to them, never having seen a functioning restaurant, or movie theater, or zoo. They know nothing of the past, and in a way, it works to their advantage.
The Armory |
The specialist with weapons. They pride themselves with being prepared for any and every situation, constantly readying themselves for the next dilemma. They don't ever want to be caught with their backs to the wall.
The Mother-to-be |
She's pregnant, and alone. It's terrifying to be a possible mother in this new world of uncertainty, but this baby is the one thing she clings to that makes her feel human. And even if she doesn't feel secure, she'll do everything to make sure her child does.
The Good-natured |
Despite the horrible scenes they've endured, a smile still manages to light up their expression through it all. It's easy to be negative. It's hard to look for the good. And they know it. They're there to remind everyone that it's not all bad all the time.
The Antagonist |
The wolf in sheeps clothing. They have everyone buying into their needy and distressed facade, but have malicious intentions. This role is for funerrific drama for the whole family to love to hate.
The Weathered |
They're a veteran to this lifestyle, having experienced hardship since before everything went down. They're battle-scarred and bearing a lone wolf outlook on life. But even the strong are weak to good company. Being alone is unbearable, and they're willing to give it up for the right people. [R e s e r v e d ]
