personality description // if you were to meet nicholas in real life after watching his charismatic and effortlessly alluring stage persona, you'd probably be disappointed. while his snarky comments and cynical outlook definitely carry over into his day-to-day reality, the bad boy charm and cool confidence is a total act. as soon as the stage empties, nick once again sinks into the familiar embrace of self doubt and quiet pessimism.

a loner by nature, when not performing he can usually be found on the fringes of social gatherings, mocking people he dislikes or just alone in his room working on music, perhaps the only thing he's truly passionate about. he prefers not to get involved with anyone beyond surface level, though it isn't too hard to form a shallow relationship with him... though it would take a seriously devoted friend to truly break through his cold and snarky exterior and see the lonely boy hiding beneath.

nicholas sterling was born to moderately successful parents, but their only true passion was living the white picket fence suburban dream. his mother was literally named karen, if that says anything. he decided at the age of eight that he was going to be a rock musician, much to the horror of his perfectly plastic family.

after barely tolerating years of parental disapproval and bullying at school, he moved out at sixteen and lived with his equally rebellious 'friends' in a cheap shared apartment. all the struggles of life had left him with a lot of mental scarring, and it was music that got him through it all. his friends were of course supportive, and soon enough nick began making a name for himself online as a singer.

this cruise is his first chance to perform for a crowd of thousands, and though he's not the sun, sand and surf type by any means, it was too good an opportunity to miss. besides, at least his only close friend lexi is there for moral support and sunscreen reminders...

Tate is rather gregarious and loves to be around his friends. He doesn’t mind crowds, but don’t expect him to be the loudest guy around. Tate is assertive, determined, and has a difficult time backing down or admitting fault. He can be charming when he wants, and he isn’t afraid to manipulate situations to suit his needs. His wit and intellect can be his greatest ally and his heart can be the mortal enemy.​

Often his moral and ethics wage war with his desires. Tate likes to be seen, noticed, and talked to, but don’t expect him to always return the same gesture. He can be arrogant when it comes to areas of mastery, but despite his stubborn and hard-headed nature he’s not a bad listener. Though you might have to tell him a few times, he will take notice. Tate is kind, but not always the most considerate because of his tendency to be emotionally removed/oblivious. However, though Tate doesn’t hesitate to take the lead, he doesn’t like to be told what to do.​

On the surface Tate is a cocky, determined, and passionate man who, at times, can appear selfish and self-absorbed. However, Tate doesn’t like opening up and hides behind his friendly and sociable nature. He’s excellent at covering up his own hurt with jokes. He’s learned to laugh through the pain and he’s not inclined to trust strangers. Tate is more confident with things and around people he doesn't love. When it comes to relationships, he can be insecure, always believing he isn't going to be enough.

Tate was raised in a middle-class family with a few younger siblings and an older sister. He always did well in school, in sports, and had a rather large friend group. Before he graduated from high school his father passed away and responsibilities fell onto his shoulders. He gallantly picked up his family, constantly encouraging them, and tended to the household chores his father once did. Tate put off college to help his mother, who had to go back to work. His older sister and he fought constantly, arguing over each other’s future. His sister was already enrolled in a university a few states away, and she told Tate she’d put it off for a few more years.​

Eventually his sister agreed to continue her education, but the compromise was a school closer to home. The family pulled together, strengthened by their father’s death. A few years after graduating from high school, Tate became a part time student at the nearby community college. He recently applied to a business school and has many ideas for a business he wants to start, however, the struggle is figuring out which idea to pursue. Despite his busy lifestyle, he always makes room for his family (they are his number one priority).
