Hello and welcome to my first roleplay in a long time! Please ignore my very simple code, I have massive brain fog at the moment! Anyways! This roleplay is based on Terrace House and Heart Signal, two dating shows that I absolutely adore! This is going to be a very simple slice-of-life roleplay but still character-driven as it is dependent on people forming relationships with each other. It is a romance-centered roleplay as it is a dating show so I'm sorry if that bothers anyone!

The roleplay will be taking place somewhere in South Korea (I currently haven't decided where because there are lots of options!) however, characters are allowed to be from all over the place as long as it makes sense for them to be in Korea to the point they could converse comfortably on the show! There will be love experts and dating coaches that watch/host the show and they will be the ones that narrate each new time skip/episode! They also will provide "missions" or "events" for the cast members to partake in as they are easy ways to win dates or simply get to know the other cast members. Not all of the cast will make it the entire summer, in fact, most of them will probably leave. This makes room for new characters to be created and added to the mix. (This is especially helpful for those who lose inspiration!) Since this is a reality dating show, some of the cast will still go to work/school or even go out with friends, etc. Nobody is trapped at the Paper House and they can leave whenever they want. People are also free to pursue whoever they want within the Paper House, meaning that multiple people can go for one cast member if they choose to do so.

If a cast member causes problems for others (i.e. fighting) they will be asked to leave the Paper House. There is an app that the show uses that allows the cast to anonymously message/alert others that they have feelings for them, however, they are not allowed to share their identity as this is simply meant to add excitement to the show and those living within the house. Speaking of which, within the house itself, everyone gets their own bedroom to themselves. They are allowed to decorate as they please, but please keep in mind this is temporary housing and you could be moving out next week! Pets are generally not allowed at the house unless required for service animal purposes. Chores are to be split between everyone living at the house as everyone is living there and must maintain it properly. Occasionally trips will be made available to those within the house and a competition of sorts will commence. Whoever wins will be able to take a date of their choice on said trip.

Personality

Mi-Sun is a woman who can come off very haughty and pompous when first meeting her, and she is to some degree, certainly full of herself in many respects. She is prone to bossing people around, especially if she sees herself in some position higher than them in some way. Seemingly spoiled with a catty tongue to match, Mi-Sun finds herself in many petty arguments and spats. She desperately wants to be recognized and to get somewhere in life, to be famous, popular, and well-liked by everyone. Having been told she was beautiful since she was young, it's the only thing she finds of value about herself. Mi-Sun is prone to sucking up to any and everyone who she thinks could get her higher in the social hierarchy of fame, status, and fortune. She was ready and willing to try nearly anything if it meant reaching her goal. Not caring if she became an actress, an idol, a model, online influencer, etc, as long as it means she'll be known and adored. Though most importantly, recognized. Despite the attention she received from her looks Mi-Sun felt like a pretty mask on a mannequin and developed a burning desire to prove she was so much more than that.


A lot of her personality is built on a warped sense of pride and fragility based on Mi-Sun's need to rise to expectations while constantly comparing herself to others and as such Mi-Sun is prone to getting herself in bad situations due to her blind pursuit of recognition beyond what she considered shallow compliments. She ended up being rather gullible and overly trusting, which only seemed to land her in ever worsening situations. Hurt one too many times; it simply compounded that distorted her view of herself.

Mi-Sun tries to keep herself going with genuine attempts at making the best of any situation, though often in vain. Doing the best to enjoy the little things, and still always feeling empty by the time she closes her eyes every night. In the end, the pressure never seems go away, and she takes it out on others often, earning her the nickname ๋งต์„  Mep-Sun, a pun on behalf of her 'spicy' personality.


Despite Mi-Sun's ego, she is a rather hard worker, if not too much. She works herself to exhaustion on the regular. She never gives up on anything, and will trudge step by step through a field of thorns to reach her prized rose.


Mi-Sun is, surprisingly, a quite responsible, sensitive, and kind woman. Usually putting in extra effort in order to aid those in need, even at her own detriment. Especially fond of children and the elderly. Her altruistic personality is often hidden under her bashful front, and so many don't see her for who she really is. Something she's rather content with, as she fears even that, thinking people will view her as lesser. Mi-Sun is a tearing designer bag covered in dollar store tape.

1. Being accepted into a idol competition show when she was in highschool but not making the cut despite her best friend moving ahead and getting contracted

2. Refocusing her efforts from wanting to be an idol to working on her own clothing brand

3. Murdering a rich investor and getting away with a contract to be CEO of her own company

History

Mi-Sun's high school years had been filled with boys fawning over her and earning the jealousy of numerous girls. The constant attention from her natural beauty was more than she was used to even in middle school, and she didn't handle it too well, but she didn't hate it either. It made her feel happy that people desired her for something. Even if she wasn't the best at everything she was still at least liked by someone. Eventually gaining the courage to join an idol survival show with her best friend Seulbin, the two girls worked hard together their senior years of high school to get as far as they could both academically and in the show. Mi-Sun's grades were nothing to scoff at, but her best friend was the one who had more traction while they trained for their chance for stardom. Mi-Sun had to hold back Seulbin from trying to force the producers to give Mi-Sun her spot in the next phase of the program, not wanting her best friend to ruin their own chances just for her sake. Eventually, they split. Mi-Sun was crushed. She had the marks to get into a good college, but she ruminated on her missed chance for fame for too long and options narrowed. She took the year off to work instead at a local tailor shop owned by family friends, a kind elderly couple who used to babysit her when she was younger.

Telling herself it would be better to get the money now than later, but it was more or less an excuse to be available in case she got that slim chance of being re-scouted, but that never came, and she did eventually put her dreams aside and went to Ewha Womans University the year after. The time she had spent at the tailory had influenced Mi-Sun greatly. For the first time she had felt seen. There were usually quite a few grandmothers who would frequent the shop for mahjong and to work on their own crafts projects. They taught Mi-Sun everything she knew about making and altering clothing, from knitting her first scarf for her younger sister to spending many sleepless months on her first dress.

Mi-Sun graduated with a Masters in Fashion Design, suffering only a few bruises and broken hearts, the girlโ€™s resolution hadnโ€™t waved in the slightest. She moved back home for a while, ready to get out into the world and apply for a good job, yet still, she felt somewhat empty. Until she met a guy who might be able to help her reach her still burning dream of fame.

Mi-Sun didnโ€™t stay home for too long however, and moved to the United States as soon as she could after she was able to claim citizenship through her father and grandfather who had been a US Military service member who married into a native family, allowing for a relative ease through the normally arduous bureaucratic process.

Things were looking up for the young woman. Citizenship and moving to America were both a big hurdle in her plan to work her way up in the fashion industry and finally claim the recognition she craved. The next step seemingly followed this streak of fortune having made the requirements for a fashion competition show in California where she was currently living with her newest boyfriend, who wasnโ€™t that bad compared to her previous relationships. He at least held the girl after yelling he yelled at her.

She didnโ€™t know if she truly loved him, any of them, in the end, but it was worth it.

For her dream.

When time came for her auditions for the show, she passed with flying colors, though more than a little perturbed at their comments of her โ€˜exoticnessโ€™.

Mi-Sun expected too much of people.

She, unlike most of the other contestants, modeled her outfits on top of creating them, which drew much fanfare from the audience but just as much ire from her peers. For the first part of the competition she was on track for a top spot in the next, however Mi-Sun couldnโ€™t continue. Suffering a panic attack on the walkway, she barely managed to hold herself together before making it backstage and had to be taken to the hospital. She was crushed, not by anyone else, but by herself, her fear of failure from the survival show in highschool had made this all too similar situation unbearable despite everything going for her. When asked if she could continue the competition she declined and voided her contract.

Hurt and terrified of her future she had one last ray of hope in the form of a recruiter who had approached her, one of the patrons who watched her walk the runway. Vultures who looked for failed contestants to pick the meat from. Yet, Mi-Sun was a special case as she had both promise and desperation. It turned out she had been leading in the show by almost twice the votes of second place. Had she had simply waited there would have surely been better offers but foolhardy as ever Mi-Sun jumped at what seemed to her to be a last resort.

Mi-Sun broke up with her boyfriend who she discovered to be cheating on her, not to her surprise, and found herself in New York City. A fashion industry havenโ€ฆ Working in what could only be described as a sweatshop. Mi-Sun was, unfortunately, rather used to the process of working herself to the bone on minor pay while living with abusive boyfriends simply to have a place to sleep at night and ditching before things gotโ€ฆ Too bad.

Making her way forward was the only thing keeping her going, to achieve that golden dream. The girl could rely on her hard earned skills and her natural born beauty at the very least. Fucking Working her way up the chain of command of the shadow company she had been enslaved to, eventually finding herself in the penthouse of the investor who sent the scouter after in the first place.

She wasnโ€™t there alone, four other girls were with her that night. One of them was dead on the floor, her blood slowly forming a large smooth round pool on the linoleum flooring.

Mi-Sun simply stood there, staring at the scene before her, only to notice the body twitching, trying desperately to grip itself back to life under the press of death.

BANG!

The woman, now corpse, didn't move again after the second shot. Mi-Sun couldnโ€™t tell if the smoke rising up from the man holding the mudur weapon was from the gun or from his expensive cigarette. He had the most horrifically familiar grin on his face as he glanced back at the last three women in the room, who were clutching onto Mi-Sun in fear. She didnโ€™t even notice them until they pushed her forward at the wealthy manโ€™s beckoning, and somehow, Mi-Sun managed to step forward.

Her life was on the line, no. Her dream was on the line.

Now behind her was a dead body lying in a pool of blood and before her was a wealthy man sitting on an expensive couch flicking his cigarette butt past her head; vanishing from view, most likely now sinking into the sickening red ooze. He smiled and she wanted to vomit, but still continued to keep composure. The glass table to her side had the key to everything she desired on it.

A pen.

A contract.

And a loaded gun.

She had gotten this far and nothing would stop her. So Mi-Sun without a word or whimper started to strip.


Hours later there were two dead bodies a signed contract and a single woman sitting nude on an expensive couch smoking a similarly expensive cigarette. Staring out the penthouseโ€™s glass wall at a gorgeous sunrise over the New York City skyline.

Mi-Sun was able to eventually worm her way through the investors' assets, and acquired more than just her brand new company FFate, but a penthouse, a fortune, and alibi from the other two women whom she made sure would live comfortably for the rest of their lives.

Though, after everything sheโ€™d been through. She was done with America for now, and headed back home to Seoul to manage her new company from there. Making sure to personally thank everyone who had helped her aside from her exโ€™s as they already got what they wanted and she refused to give them anything more.

In short time Mi-Sun was rolling out her first line dubbed Royal Sun which exploded internationally, likely aided by the fact her brief appearance in the fashion competition having already given her a spot in the public consciousness with a small but humble following. As well as the court case headlines in the US being a spectacle in its own right.
Soon enough Mi-Sun and the FFate brand became a household name, and for a time almost every single item was personally designed and modeled by her alone. Eventually she cut back, out of concern for her health. Now releasing a personally crafted line only a few times a year, a process which proved rather successful.

Mi-Sun had finally done it.

So why did she feel so empty?
