Overview

So. What's this Roleplay about.

This Roleplay plays into a setting of global societal decline from three major revolutions of civil unrest complemented with misguided and aggressively supported ideologies. The first Revolution in 2029 was unofficially called the Wipe which 99.5 percent of all electronic databases, archives and websites have been erased by numerous global events of sabotage. The Wipe was also escalated by years of social unrest by having governments being majorly deregulated and co-opted by numerous conglomerates of paramilitary influence and expanding slowly into weakened governments. This started the era of the Information Dark Age and has continued as of 2059. While information is sparse due to its accessibility and accuracy split apart asunder, most of the population, including the character players themselves, have no awareness outside of their environment. Most of the information is hearsay which creates a complicated dichotomy of disbelief and lack of brevity. While the internet still exists, most of its websites and databases are blank slates with nothing to read about. Most popular sites are co-opted by conglomerates or individual groups trying to return back the website's original purpose. Most social media has been panned to be unreliable since most news outlets are either defunct or have no funding and money whatsoever due to the years of the Revolutions. The Internet itself could or would be censored or again have misinformation but most people rebuilding it are having difficulties to get back information that is dire to have "accurate" websites from the past. So the lack of references AND having to deal with burdening poverty and social unrest while at the same time fixing up a gigantic interconnected global system of computer networks isn't particularly simple. The whole setting comprises of the lack of information and abundance of misinformation. With the Intercontinental Information Highway destroyed and freedom of speech available but not practiced due to the overwhelming unrest and stress, it's hard to get any information reliably or accurately in Disenfranchised Impunity. Most of your information would be your peers, the characters in the Roleplay and the environment around you. This goes accordance as well with the player characters in the Boroughs in Los Angeles, California. The Midwest and West Coast is considered by many as the New Wild West: Unknowingly familiar yet is perceived to be a new frontier. Midwest being more stable due to their individual organized communities, an example of Utah having militant Mormon communities that spans across the state and organized to be a majorly theocratic democracy. The West Coast is more forgivable but in worst condition compared to their neighboring states. Most states in the west coast have enforced martial law by the government or by corporations and conglomerates who assimilated the respective governments. The governments themselves are too weak to conduct any infrastructure rebuilding and most conglomerates like Olympia Corporates and Conglomerate rather reform the West Coast to their own benefits. However many important figures and the major population outside the Midwest and the West Coast has no instance or reference of the New Wild West, as again most social media, news outlet and the Internet itself is cripplingly obsolete with no one to update it and has been incredibly dangerous to any faction outside of the west to come in to even assist the patrons of the New Wild West. So federal aid isn't going anywhere near the New Wild West while the populace themselves are so conditioned to violence and unfair situations, they tend to keep doing what they know.
