Overview & Main Roleplay

Ferris frowned at the insult to her sister, rolling her eyes when the Gravewalker let the human knight enter the fight. "Trying to get your comrades killed, Gravewalker?" she said, bringing up her sword to block the attacks. While somewhat encumbered by the size of the blade and Edward's flurry of attacks, she didn't seem to mind any landed wounds too much.

After a while, she got tired and leaped a few feet away from Edward, placing him within her ideal reach. "You're skilled for a human," she said, swiping at him in a wide arc with her sword.

///

Lance considered trying to block out Lenelia's song, but his exhausted body was practically trembling and he'd probably crash without help, anyways. So the king sat on the ground, leaned back against one of the houses, and watched the group as the musical spell lulled him to sleep. For once, it was a peaceful one.

Falamar's words were not well received by the queen, who spun around to give him a cold stare with narrowed eyes. "Silence. This man will be taken in for questioning. If he has nothing to hide he will be released. Besides, don't you hear that highland accent of his? We must take no chances! My baby is in danger!" Prudence was once again sounding more like a paranoid mother than a strategic queen.

She took a moment then to comfort her crying baby, which placed an abrupt pause over the entire situation. Everyone was standing in silence and waiting on her, but the baby wouldn't be soothed.

"This way", said Prudence impatiently, taking the lead as they headed back the way they had come. Although Edwin felt nauseated following Prudence's knowledge of his Roseland accent, the knight followed without resistance. As the royal group disappeared in the distance, the marketplace resumed its usual livelihood.

Soon the group arrived back at the manor. The two soldiers were quietly escorting Edwin as Pru began her search for Yaro. By now, his meeting with Oromis was over.

"Yaro", Prudence called out as they walked the halls in search. At last they found him in his own quarters. Pru climbed into his bed then and began to nurse Alfio, who finally quieted. "This man was stalking Alfio and I at the market", she whined, exaggerating the circumstances. "Klaus saw him."

. . .
At the campsight, the conscious members of the group were in for a bit of a surprise as Augusto crash landed among them, colliding direcrtly into Aizen before bouncing off to the grass. The flying rodent appeared disoriented as he hopped around in a little circle to regain his composure.

"This is bad, this is bad", he rambled frantically. "We have to turn back! This mission is already lost. Abort!" He marched around those at the fire. Perhaps his brain was too small to focus on the more important bits of information. He climbed to Lanister's shoulder where he paced and babbled about their need to flee.

"The Yunakai has been overthrown! They already have Edwin! We have to go!" He fluttered around in panic.

Lanister would be helping the man get into fresh clothes, and handing him his own provisions. "Here, sir. Eat this, you'll need to build your strength back up. " He said. Just as he was about to question the events that lead up to what happened at Wyrm's head, before Augusto flew over. When Augusto's words reached Lanister's ears, his eyes would widen. Yaro had won?! It was over? He would then bite down on his life, before looking towards Yoren. "Master, you're the senior most official of our order here, so the call is yours- do we proceed to Amberjack, or fall back? This isn't something I expected- A truce, yes, but not for a long while. Yaro winning was also NOT what I had anticipated.....things, I fear, are just getting worse." He said.

"Oh calm yourself, My Queen. You have nothing to fear."

Chalondra would step out into the open from talking to Yaro, after his meeting with Oromis. She had a look on her face as if everything was playing out in her favor. She would then reach a hand over, and lightly place it on Edwin's cheek. The ring on his hand would burn lightly with energy. "After all....this young man is here to ensure the future of your kingdom." She said. The burning was a message for him to 'play along'.

Chalondra would take a step back, before speaking up. "Edwin is a senior member of the Emerald Thorn's. Meaning? He knows important information, locations, the current happenings of the Rose Kingdom.....and their weaknesses." Chalondra said, the sweet words pouring into Prudence's ear as she lightly placed her hands on Prudence's shoulders. "So relax, my Queen....this man will ensure your baby is safe, sound, and will grow into a fine young man.....after all, that is what you want, right?" She whispered, before looking towards the guards, and snapping her fingers. "Release him."

She would then walk towards Edwin, before smiling to Edwin, the flames in her eye glowing as her sinister smile stretched her lips. "You will ensure that my words are not false, and that you will be useful, as to not make me out a fool, won't you Edwin....?" She said, a clear threat of what could happen if she were defied, or if he failed. She would then look towards Prudence. "Good day to you, My lords...." She said, before walking out.

Yaro would be removing his armor as Chalondra spoke, removing the demonic gear for the first time since he placed it on him. He needed a bath, a good meal, to hold his fiancee and child, and a lot more.....but he just felt so....weak without the armor on. Yaro would then turn towards Prudence. "Rest assured, my love, nothing will harm our child.....But Chalondra has informed me of another threat, or two, coming, something I did not anticipate....my Master, and his master, come with a small party towards the capitol.....and another thing, that she refused to elaborate on." He said, before looking towards Heinrich, Falamar, Prudence, and Edwin. Maybe they knew who this person was?

"Tell me, do any of you know what a 'Grave-walker' or 'Silver Lord' is?"

Ferris could hear Mizuki cry out in pain, as Natha dug the sharp end of his forge hammer into her leg, before ripping it out. Lunging forward with his sword, his blade would bite into Mizuki's stomach, a fatal blow for a human, but only near fatal for a demon. He would then strike her across the face with the sharp end, sending her to the ground with a bleeding gash on her face. Natha felt the demon blood in him calling to execute this girl, as they had done to EVERY last sibling he had, as they had done to his friends.....to his family.....to his home!

He would have revenge! He would have justice!

Natha would raise the sword, to strike the killing blow on Mizuki, and end her life, but both Maeve/Kalamitat and Louise would see....a hand, reaching out to grip his from striking the final blow. The hand was spectral, yet it was holding him back as if it was physical. Turning to face it, they'd all see....a girl, standing there, holding his sword. Though she'd be unfamiliar eyes to those that were not as old as Natha, the Raids demons would be able to recognize this spirit- Thessalia Tognir InAinn, youngest sister to Natha, and the very sister the demon in this place impaled with bloody spikes.

Natha was in a state of total shock, before seeing Thessalia vanish. He would then look down towards Mizuki, and then to Ferris. This......wasn't any different, was it? At the end of the day, if he did this, he would simply be no better than them....Lowering his blade, he'd place the flat end on Mizuki's neck, saying simply. "I deny you the mercy of death..." He said, before looking towrads Edward and Ferris. "Just this one time demon.....because I understand what is it like to be the only one left." He said, before shouting to Edward. "We need to go Edward! It is time to take the city of Traghad!"

Ferris had a choice- She could keep fighting, hope to kill Natha, and lose her sister, or she could take Mizuki away from here, and save her life.

Natha would then see demons approaching, but unlike the ones they were fighting, they had the bright light similar to how the branded demons looked. These must've been those that survived Natha's fire, burned away into a new fighting force for their 'Silver Lord'. Natha would then look at his hand, before speaking. "I have a power greater than death.....How could I have not seen it sooner? The power to build an army was right here in my hand! I will reforge this Demons into an army of my own! Just as Arawn, Ceridwen, and Agares tortured and corrupted the first beings, I shall redeem them in flame! THEY WILL BE MINE!"

He would then look up, as the small demon horde with him (roughly 30 demons in total) stood behind him. He knew time was short, so he had to find a way to get the attention of Quezor, before he would reach into his pocket. The ring! It increased a demons power, Quezor would kill to get his hands on it....but it would need to be known that Natha had it before Quezor would bother to pay attention. Holding the ring tightly in his fist, He'd hold it into the air, before causing it's power to briefly blaze like a beacon. If Quezor didn't know it existed before, he should now.

This was all he could do to challenge Quezor. Now the rest was up to fate.

Natha would then hold up his sword, placing the ring in his armor, and shout. "Charge!" Before following after the Radiant Guard, to cleanse the city of Traghad, the cleansed-demons following after him.

Klaus could only give a gesture to Falamar, one that said to just roll with it. Prudence was new to leadership, after all. The stress of being queen and a mother may have been getting to her. The doctor followed her back to the manor, nodding as Prudence acknowledged his role in Edwin's arrest.

"Her first established law as queen: staring at her or Alfio is illegal." He snarked, licking his scars absentmindedly as he passed a glance to Edwin.

Then came Chalondra. Granting assurance and Yaro asking questions. The question actually seemed to allow Heinrich' s eyes to brighten. In all of his studying for Klydebern, he had found something related to such a title. He raised his hand.

"I know little on the subject of the Gravewalker, but what I do know is that this is a person who fought in Alethea when those dirty old demons attacked." He glanced at Chalondra and shrugged, she had a good sense of humor, right? "In what way is one Gravewalker a threat to your operations?"
. . .
Aizen recoiled as Augusto crashed into him. More from shock and alarm than any actual weight. He did not recognize this creature. Its words were dripping with desperation and panic. Yunakai was overthrown? They had Edwin? If Aizen remembered correctly, both Oromis and Edwin had abandoned the group since they had arrived in Wyrm's Skull. After a moment to mull on it.. He felt like he knew what had happened.

"Oromis joined the enemy..."

It was sobering news to him. They were already in enemy territory, the odds were already against them. But now there was only one faction remaining in Yunakai. And that was King Yaro's. Aizen let out a heavy sigh as he buried his face into his hands.

"One problem after another..." he then sat up and firmly grasped the rodent. His hands were bone-chillingly cold from the wind blowing.

"Hush up. Panic induces stupidity. This was already an uphill battle.. and this turn of events helps nothing. But if we are smart, apply our resources properly.. maybe we stand a chance." The hobbit wondered if the conscious Dreadnought had anything to say on the matter.

Dreadnought grunts with exertion as he rises to his feet and attempts to peer out into the darkness around them. "This place just keeps getting more and more interesting, doesn't it? And here I was hoping for a nice, relaxing stroll through the countryside until I could get back home. Alright, what's the plan?" he asks, hoisting his axe onto his shoulder with a deep metallic clang.

The flustered bat appeared displeased by the coldness of Aizen's hand. The creature struggled to be free, and hopped back over to where he was more comfortable: with Lance. The ice cold bat climbed onto the king's chest where he perched and watched on quietly, at last calmed.

In all of his fussing, the bakeneko was awakened. He eyed the bat hungrily, seeing it as nothing more than a rodent. The bakeneko leapt from where it was positioned at Cecile's side and pounced at him, landing also on Lance's chest with a heavy thud. Augusto screeched and took flight, narrowly avoiding the ghost cat. Bakeneko licked his lips and sighed, disappointed that the thing had escaped.

Augusto landed on a nearby rock. He was insulted and now attempting to conceal his susprise by the cat. Meanwhile, Cecile was beginning to stir because the cat's warmth was gone. Her blue eyes peered open and she slowly sat up. It was evident several hours had passed, but Cecile knew immediately that something had happened by the grave stares of her comrades. It was nighttime now, and the beachy air was cooler than it was during daylight.

"What's happening?" she asked. Her stare followed the others eyes to Yoren, where they rested to await his response.

. . .
Edwin listened closely to CHalondra, and after hearing her spiel he knew he had no choice but to go along with it. He cleared his throat and began to speak to Yaro, "It's true! I've come here seeking refuge..... my own allies of the Rose Kingdom have abandoned me."

He crossed the room and stepped nearer to Prudence. She was still nursing Alfio with the wrap Alfio had once been bundled in now resting over her shoulder as a cover. Prudence's eyes were narrowed and distrustful. Edwin reached a hand down to gently touch one of Prudence's feet. This was the woman who cursed Cecile Rose? She appeared so helpless to him in her current state, and it disgusted him. This criminal was enjoying the innocent joys of motherood, while Cecile was.... He had only himself to blame. Suddenly, Edwin felt as though he was the one person to have wronged Cecile more than this woman. He shook the these thoughts from his head, and tried to focus. he turned to Yaro:

"I want only their safety, and the safety of this kingdom", he assured them. "i know nothing about the gravewalkers but... I have great experience protecting royal families", he added as an after thought. Although, truthfully it brought a sick feeling to his stomach as he reflected about the fate of his last responsibilty. Edwin continued, "and I know all about the surprises headed this way as we speak", he added.

Hearing the demon woman leap back, the knight would do the opposite, leaping forward and parrying Ferris' blade, before bringing an upward slash up from her left hip to her right shoulder. "Likewise, demon," Edward would state laconically, attempting to keep his focus on the battle, only to disengage on Natha's command. "Yes, Silver Lord," the knight would state, leaping back to stand beside Natha, before following him into Traghad.

/ / /

Outside, Louise had come over to where Maeve was laying. "Please don't be dead, please don't be dead, please don't be dead," she would mutter under her breath as she would check the woman's pulse. Good, she was still alive. After a moment, the huntress would pull out a small vial of smelling salts, before placing them under Maeve's nose, in an attempt to resuscitate her.

/ / /

Quezor had been making his way towards the exact opposite gate Natha and company were coming through, when he felt the Gravewalker's challenge, and the mana backed behind it. "Do you feel that, Brutus?" the demon warlock asked the satyr demon, who only made a pathetic attempt at some bleating, but was too winded from carrying Quezor's luggage. "That's right, Brutus! The blood of Kylorin flows through that princling's blood! It may be but a pinch, but perhaps it's enough to unlock what we came here for! Come, you blithering bleater, this way!" He would shout, before leading the overburdened demon down a nearby passageway, towards the secret door uncovered by Ferris but a short time ago.

/ / /

Inside of Traghad, the demons were no match against the onslaught of Natha's forces. Any that were not immediately branded were quickly chopped down by the Radiant Guard or his turned demons. "To Kylorin's Anteroom! We must not allow the demon to defile our Emperor's resting place!" The captain of the Radiant Guard would call to his men, who would give out a battle cry, and charge forward, thier determination building with each step.

Yoren was silent for a few moments, deep in thought. All this information was troubling to learn. It would appear as though Oromis's actions had even suprised the aging master assassin. "This whole situation feels. . . off. As though the very strings of fate themselves have been tampered with. Despite how idiotic he could be, I sincerly doubt Oromis would ever willingly bend the knee, especially to a turncloak such as Yaro. In fact-" Yoren would begin to say, before the whole ordeal between Augusto and the bakeneko caused the princess to awaken.

"My lady, we have obtained dire news from our little ally here," Yoren would explain to the princess. "It would seem that King Oromis has bent the knee, no doubt through some dark sorcery, to the rebel Yaro and his men. So, I would ask that you and the Prince Lance would take your leave from us, and proceed towards your nearest allies. There may be a Balsearph camp in the area for you to take refuge. Those people take no part in the politics and wars of the lands they pass through. The rest of you, I would ask to make a choice. You may go with the two royalty, or you may come with me to attempt something short of suicide. It is your choice." Yoren would explain to everyone there.

Falamar shivered a little at the sight of Chalondra. He disliked the woman, though he was not sure why. Perhaps it was the air she put off, like that of a predator playing with it's dinner, and quickly growing bored.

After Klaus would speak, Falamar would toss in his own two pieces of eight. "How could having a near immortal man who can take on a an army of well-equipped and battle hardened demons NOT sound like trouble to you?" Falamar asked the doctor. "I've heard some rather odd tales in my days, but stories involving the Gravewalker usually take the cake. He's walked the world since well before the fall of Alethea, slaying demons and anyone else who stands in his way with ease. Some say he can even glow like a will-o-the-wisp in the moonlight, but that may be nothing more than a tall tale," Falamar would explain. "Though, to learn that there is a being that wields such power, it really makes you realize how truly insignificant we mortal races can be, when a man who lights up like a candle at night is the equivalent of a demigod to us," The privateer would muse to himself.

After Edwin's comment on having a past of protecting royalty, Falamar would scoff a little. "And now you've come here after abandoning your old masters? Sorry, but I personally can't trust you, no matter who or what vouches for you." He would state.

Why was a Gravewalker not big news to Klaus? Or rather, why didn't he sound concerned? He turned casually to Falamar, the doctor's expression uncharacteristically calm.
"Well.. the Gravewalker has never met me." That was all the doctor had to say on the matter. It occurred to Heinrich that no one; Prudence, Yaro, Falamar, anybody really.. had ever seen Heinrich in an actual, prolonged fight. He had been fairing quite well in avoiding direct conflict, but he would soon change that the instant they could get his ancestor's weapon.

. . .
Aizen simply shook his head at Yoren's speech. Suicide missions were purely subjective. As a Wilting Rose.. He had no choice but to pursue the suicide mission. He stood to his feet, taking a deep breath.
Aizen didn't bother to pursue the rodent, though he grew wary when the Bakeneko awoke and leapt onto Lance. His fist clenched, but then relaxed.
"Don't cause too much ruckus, Bakeneko. I may have to wake your Bard friend up."

"Too late.." Lenelia was up, rubbing his eyes with a grumpy glare. "Ive always needed about 9 hours to stay refreshed. This feels like a lot less." Instinctively, Lenelia sought Dread. The bard had missed Yoren's entire speech due to being asleep. Dread looked tense. Everyone looked tense. What did he miss? The Elven halfbreed looked to the cat thing, glaring.

"Causing trouble?"

Ferris was almost too distracted by the fight with Edward to notice her struggling sister. The cry of pain from Mizuki was enough to shift the demon's focus, however, allowing one of Edward's strikes to bite into her side mid-dodge. Hissing her irritation, Ferris waited for Edward to turn his back before flinging a throwing knife at his shoulder, a petty show of revenge, before dropping her sword and rushing to Mizuki.

She scanned her sister quickly for wounds, and turned slightly to glare darkly at Natha's retreating back. "You've just made this personal," she snarled. She would get back at the bastard one day!

///

Maeve returned to the world with a start, shuffling back away from Louise at first until she recognized the woman. "Oh.. Um. Thanks," she said, trying to rise to her feet and stumbling slightly. Her entire side roared in pain at the movement, and Maeve actually fell.

:I wish I could do something about that, but my energy is exhausted by that blow we took.: Maeve could easily read how drained the demon was by the slur in its mental words.

"Have you got anything else handy with you, miss? Maybe something to numb pain?" Maeve asked hopefully. Her progress and usefulness would be hindered by her new injury, and that was the last thing she wanted.

///

Lance was awoken slowly by Augusto landing on his chest. The king began to stir, only for Augusto to fly off and for that heavy thrice-damned cat to land on his chest instead. With a cry of surprise, he shoved the bakeneko off and stood up quickly, hopefully to keep anything else heavy from landing on his chest.

At least he was awake. The rest of the group seemed to be stirring as well, and a few of them--who had already been awake, or hadn't slept at all--looked rather alarmed. Augusto must've brought news. Everyone seemed to wait on Yoren to speak, so Lance tuned in as well.

The Bathelonian king frowned at the mention of turning back. "We came here not only to gain information on the rebellion--which we now have, it seems, but to reverse Cecile's curse. What would we gain by turning back now, besides lost time and resources?" he prompted.

Oromis Silverspire
Oromis sat for a long time in his room after accepting Yaro's offer. He paced, he hit, he lifted, he practiced magic, but mainly, he thought. How could he have gone from a man who wanted the Rebels to burn, to their ally, to their leader? He was certain a united Yunakai was the best way. He knew it would be time to return to the Capital, and to turn over charge to Yaro...then he would delight in crushing any rebels that dared stand against such a power. He had not forgotten the atrocity that the Rose had committed against him, and was ready to tear them apart. However, this decision, of joining Yaro, was hardly being questioned by him now. Right now, he was questioning the strange dreams of his childhood he was experiencing. He hated it, and had no idea why he was dreaming of the worst moments.

He had a great rich childhood, no lie, always outshining everyone, outplaying, and outsmarting everyone. He wasn't the greatest book wise, but he was very street smart, and he knew his way around. He had natural charisma, be it threats or be it talking his way out with charm. But still, his brother had always cast a shadow over his life. Always watching, always glaring. Always trying to find a way to defeat him, always playing on his once weak and caring heart. That, is where the pain was, and that, is what the dreams were about.

He continued to push back his thoughts, and eventually left his quarters, cloak on. He strode around the castle, trying to find Yaro...

Alamar Majere
It had been a long while since he wanted to focus again. The last few days had been a trance for him, waking up in the midst of a complex ritual. After finishing, he packed it up, hoping nobody was watching, and returned to the group. There's no way they trusted him now, the only way to do so was to leach off of the Princess. Damn. Now it was desperation. But he was sure she had to hold some sway. He cast a spell, quite a few in fact, and returned to the group with new wards guarding against harm, both magic and physical. He figured that if they did attack him, he'd have the time to teleport out. Hopefully.

He returned to the group, quietly, sneaking up on them within the shadows as he sometimes did. He sat for a bit, saw the seen, and held back a snicker. He waited a bit longer, and once a long enough silence fell upon the group, he spoke, in a smooth, and almost enchanting tone. "I was told to fear three things, as all wise men should. A sea in storm, a moonless night, and the wrath of a gentle man. I should wonder..." He paused as he stepped into the group, face almost invisible in the darkness. All anyone could see, where a pair of greenish slits within the hood. If one looked closely enough, they might have seen black hourglasses within the dark green light. "Will we behold such a thing tonight? Or perhaps another night?" He stayed standing, but his eyes fixed on the princess. "A say this so you can not help but hear-a wise man views a moonless night with fear."

Silence fell once he finished speaking, and he awaited conversation to begin. He hoped this was planned well, so he could sap attention from Yoren to himself. He had no doubt that if it came to combat, Yoren's swift moves would prove devastating for a magi such as himself. He gripped his staff tighter, trying to dim the light before anyone would notice. Of course, his cursed vision watched as the strings of magic played within the party, ready to rip out power if the need arose. ((Done))

Lanister looked up at Yoren, before sighing. "My duty, OUR duty, is to protect the Rose Kingdom. Always has been, always will be. Suicide or not, I'll see this mission done." He said, before standing, helping the Wyrm's Head mayor seat himself. "Yaro has never been one to sit on his laurels, and await for someone to attack him. If I know my student well enough, He will be preparing himself to strike at Yunakai's enemies, which is our home. With the kingdom under the rule of Cecile's idiot brother, I am almost positive that is a fight he can win. We must not let that happen."

Lanister would then turn towards the mage, thankfully having training to resist mental magic, and would speak up. "What you did back there, Alamar, was unnecessary, careless, dangerous.....and it likely saved my ladies life. " Lanister said, putting his weapon away. He may not have liked what had happened, but he couldn't deny the usefulness of the ability. Digging into his bag, he'd hand something to Alamar. "In return for that, I offer you this.....as well as something else."

What Lanister had given him....was Wilting Rose Advanced Magic Primer!

Wilting Rose Mages used these to advance their studies into magical arts past the known. Since the city of Valpurina was the only place that actively studied magic in the Rose Kingdom, they had to hide their secrets intensely. Finding someone with a primer was rare enough, if they were not an agent, but finding someone willing to let it go was even less so.

"You show an impressive aptitude with magic, that I rarely see outside of the Yunakai Mage Academy, or in our order. So, I give you a choice- You can keep studying on your own, searching for any scrap of knowledge you may find, or....you can join the Valpurian College of Mages, and learn true power." Lanister said. Lanister was offering Alamar the chance that was denied him years ago, when Yunakai rejected admitting him. Their loss, the College's gain. The single strongest mage institution in the Rose Kingdom wanted Alamar to be apart of it.

Mizuki was bleeding- Bad. She was shivering from the loss of blood. "Sis.....I'm cold....I'm scared." Mizuki said. She was on death's door, if something wasn't done soon, she would die. The wound across her face, and through her stomach, would potentially be fatal for the girl.

Yaro would lean down to kiss Prudence, covering her in a fresh black blanket to wrap Alfio and Prudence in. When Edwin spoke, and Heinrich and Falamar gave their two cents, Yaro would walk over towards Edwin, before gripping his throat. The strength behind this grip would kill lesser people. "I warn you now, Weed- Betray me, and I shall see you die. Hurt my love and my child? I will skin you alive, and feed whats left to my dragon." He said, letting him go.

He would finally turn to Falamar and Heinrich. "Time is wasting. The moment we get the ship ready, we leave. Oh, and Captain Falamr?" Yaro would walk over towards him.....and place a large bag of gold in his hand. "Consider this the first of many payments. When Heinrich has his ancestors sword, I can assure you this- You'll have enough wealth to become king of your land back home, if that is the term for your leaders...or build a fleet of ships, whatever it is you wish. You will go home as friend and ally to the Empire."

Empire? This would be news to everyone in the room. What was he speaking of? Did this have something to do with what he discussed with Oromis?

The Antechamber. So close to the throne room itself. Natha felt himself walk into the room, almost as if he had done it before. Natha heard words muttered into his head, spoken by someone very long ago.

'It is time to take what is ours.'

How fitting.

Pushing past the Antechamber, and into the throne room, Natha would look around, before showing. "Face me, Quezor! Do you not remember my face, Deceiver!? How you murdered my sister in cold blood!? Let us end this once and for all!" Natha shouted, before looking down at the ring. Such a small thing, yet so....capacious.

Should he really use it against Quezor?

The questions beat against his head, as he remembered his own brothering being manipulated by objects like this. He was only unaffected by his demonic heritage, but this power....would he be able to remain himself afterwards?.....It didn't matter- This demon had plagued his life for too long. It was time to destroy this remnant of the Infernal King's power.

Natha would hold up the ring.....before slipping it onto his finger, changing into his demonic form, as he felt the narcotic power surge around him. It was.....odd.. To Kalamitat, it was as if his very presence gave 'his' allies strength. Natha would then raise his arms in the air in the throne room. "Face someone that can fight back, Deceiver! I will know victory! I will know glory! I WILL KNOW REVENGE!"

Klaus tilted his head at Yaro's threats to Edwin. He would be dragon food instead of an experiment for the doctor? He didnt take Yaro for a merciful leader. The mere mention of his ancestor made Klaus giddy, pushing the thoughts out of his mind. Hopefully there would be no further delays!

. . .

While Aizen did not reply to Alamar, nor to Lanister's approval of his methods, he didn't really care, either. He kept his mind on their goal. Cure the princess, and assassinate the Rebel Leaders.

Lenelia looked at Alamar with a raised eyebrow. He didnt understand where exactly he was going with such a metaphor, and all it served to Lenelia was a big helping of confusion.

"... You need something to eat, man? You're talking in nonsense. Now I speak and sing in many languages: Elven, Dwarven, even Fairy. Crazy isn't one of them." He reached into his tunic and pulled away a rag, which surrounded several strips of cooked beef. He unwrapped the strips, offering them to the Wizard, somewhat worried for his health.

He made very little physical reaction to Lanister's words. The insult, he didn't care, it was true enough. Of course there was little danger for himself, as if it came down to it, he would throw the Princess into the depths of the Abyss before facing death himself. However, he did gently take the book and look at it, feeling the cover and back, but not opening it. He was silent for a while, even though the bard went ahead and made a fool of himself. He never understood that type of...humor.

"Young singer, can I ask you a question?" He hissed before he would answer Lanister. Without waiting for an answer, he continued. "I'm sure you agree that music and song has great emotion within it, and you can speak to everyone with Music-a universal language if you will. But you, my great singer, must take it a step further, putting a bit of your heart and soul into it when you sing or play right?" Once again, he only gave a brief pause, enough for a nod or a yes. "So as great as you think that may be, what does it make you? Think about it, you share such a piece of yourself with everyone you meet! I'm no expert, but it seems that would make you a whore."

He hoped the words would sting so maybe he would get off his back, maybe even lose his composure! He turned back to Lanister. "Apologies for the interruption...but you do me a great honor with your offer." All this was simply niceties, automatic towards someone of "higher" status. Inside, he was spinning.

He remembered his rejection from the University, and the Master's sneering at him, giving him a tuition higher then most nobles could afford. After working hours and hours cleaning, being a carnival magician, creating Sympathy Lamps, running errands, and basically everything else that one of his skill shouldn't be doing-he returned to the University for his entry. However upon returning, they spurned him anyway, refusing to even speak with him. He couldn't ever shake the feeling that someone had messed with it, but while he had his own suspicions, there wasn't enough damning evidence to be sure, so he left, needing to fight for knowledge and power on his own... Of course leading him to his life until a few years ago...

He snapped out of his visions. This was a new chance, a chance to prove himself. He would have a home, and he could rise within the Rose. He could build connections, and he could eventually get back at Yunakai for everything they ever did to him...and get back at his family for always favoring... "I would be honored to learn at such a place. I have lost many opportunists to gain knowledge that has been lost because of my lack of...education, and there would be nothing that would please me more than to work for the betterment of the Rose, and the Arcane Power that can be achieved for the crown." Not much of a speech, but he happened to be thinking...a lot...

Lenelia's eyes widened at Alamar's remark. Seems the frail spellflinger had a lashing tongue! Rather than take the bait and retaliate, the bard simply looked at himself, his lute, and then flashed a smile, barely containing a laugh.

"Yeah. Guess I am a whore. I thrive on attention and dole out pleasure to the ears." He approached Alamar, no malice in his stance as he readied his gloved index finger. "And we all know I'll have more fine ladies around my arms than you any day of the week." As much as he could have gone on, Lenelia left it there. It would have been counterproductive to plant the seeds of hostility. The bard flicked Alamar's nose, then walked off towards Dreadnought.

"Nothing unusual last night, eh?"

The bakenkeo hissed at Lance before retreating back to Cecile, where the furry creature perceived itself to be safe. When Cecile noticed Lance awakened by the cat, she joined his side. She listened to Yoren's proposition, that the two of royalty should flee. This frustrated Cecile, and for sevreral minutes after that the she considered her thoughts. She was very afraid of what would await them in Amberjack, but Lance was right. They were so close, and had already been through so much.

She glanced to Lance and back to the rest of the group. It didn't appear they were preparing to leave. Cecile looked up towards the dark sky. The moon was no where in sight. She knew it was just a silly supersition of some kind, but after hearing Alamar's warning now she wasn't sure. The princess bit her lip, and finally she found the nerve to speak:

"I agree with Lance. I think that the longer we wait the more powerful Yaro will become", she hesitated before adding, "we should leave tonight. Edwin said that Amberjack is only a short distance away from here", Cecile said. This was true, and the group could arrive in as little as a few hours.

. . .
Edwin stumbled back and fell to his knees when he was finally released from Yaro's grip, coughing. Prudence was smiling at the scene, happy to see Edwin suffer. He struggled to regain his composure through a series of coughing before rising back to his feet.

He reached his feet just in time to see Yaro's affection for Prudence. Prudence wrapped her arms around his neck before kissing him back. He waited for them to finish, but never took his eyes off of Prudence as he did. When the two stopped cuddling, he spoke again:

"I don't expect to be trusted right now... but soon you will see", he directed at Falamar. He then turned back to Yaro, "and what I can provide now is valuable intel. These Rose Kingdom goons will be here by morning", he told him.

Prudence let out a soft chuckle, "perhaps we should wait for our guests", she aid to Yaro. Besides, what harm could waiting until dawn to leave cause? She carefully adjusted her baby who was sleeping now that his belly was full.

After running around for a few hours, he found some people who could tell him where the hell Yaro was. He wanted to discuss a few things with him first. He kept getting dirty looks as he continued walking along the halls. He didn't return the looks back, but if any came near him he gave them a start by taking a step towards them. After a bit this got boring though, and he stopped doing it. Gods he hated wasting time! Right now he just wanted to GO to the capital and start getting ready to crush the Rose! What the hell were they waiting for? There was no time to sit around now, every hour counted! Probably the new...Queen. Stupid. Why marry someone? That just ties you down! Better to go out to smashing parties and be with women whenever you wanted!

He remembered his teenage years well, almost always with someone, for a few days, or a week or two, then off to find someone new. When he was younger he lost interest in any kind of love, finding it to be useless and weakening. He remembered his first and only love interest, leaving him for another. He learned then it was useless to love.

He then continued around, yelling at servants to alert Yaro his presence was requested...

Ferris growled her frustration and reached back for a healing potion she'd had the foresight to carry, and thank the Nine Circles she had. The woman set it aside for a moment, rising to her feet for long enough to yank off her cloak. A few rust-colored sparks flew as the enchantment on the cloth deactivated, and Ferris began to wrap it tightly around Mizuki's stomach wound. It was the best that could be done with so little time, and the healing potion wouldn't fix such a gaping wound.

Ferris lifted and uncorked the potion and helped Mizuki drink it, throwing the empty bottle aside and picking up her sister. Murmuring a spell to herself, the next step she took and the pair were in Amberjack, warping into existence right in front of Chalondra. "I'm sorry, I failed, I let sentiment get in the way--" the demon said, obviously torn up over her sister's approaching death. "Help her, I'll go back and stop them, just help her!" she snapped, unwrapping her cloak and flinging it back around her shoudlers.

A murderous energy violent for even an Ishikawa sparked into existence in the form of a brilliant red fire, and Ferris was gone, hunting for Natha once more. She would take her revenge or die trying, for sure. ((You've made a mistake, Andraus Andraus )

Lance watched Alamar with wary eyes. Most men fear a night with no moon, but he feared one with it, for good reason. The spellcaster had pulled a bad move by draining the party, and while it had saved Cecile for sure it hadn't left a great mark on how Lance viewed him. The king watched as Lanister offered Alamar an opportunity he had apparently missed in his younger years: to be part of a Magi's College.

"If we're done with the awards," he began, clearing his throat and glancing at Lanister and Alamar, "we need to come to a decision. Do we move now, or later?" His voice brooked now argument; he was not turning around.

Lanister nodded, before handing Alamar something. "There is a formal ceremony when one is admitted into the college, and we'll have to get you your personal housing for your studies, but that will have to wait until our missions completion- Trust me when I say this though, you're about to undergo the experience of a lifetime. We don't censor our knowledge in the college- Life-crafting, Demon binding, Conjuration, all are valid schools of magic. So long as you know your limits and can control it, you can study it there." He said to Alamar. What he handed him was a typical College Mages uniform for Valpurina. "Don't need to wear these, but they should help you in a pinch."

Three things were different from standard mage robes.

One? It wasn't made of typical cloth, and it wasn't chain or hard metal....This Mage Armor was made of Dragon-scale, and crafted very finely. Not only was this Lightweight, hard to cut, AND fashionable, but dragon skin was normally resistant to combat based magic, and gave a boost to fire-based magic. Two? Instead of a cape, it came with a mask- It was decorated with runes on the inside, and wearing it gave the wielder a....clear head, as if their intellect was increased. It was mostly designed to prevent spells from backfiring too bad (i.e. acid spraying in the face and scarring).Last, but not least, was how comfortable it was- The inside was linked with silk! When you serve no Monarch and had coin to kill, it was easy to focus on the little things, one supposed.

Lanister would then look towards Lance and Cecile, before nodding. "You're right- time we left." He said, before looking towards everyone. "Alright, let's move!" He said, getting back on the trail.

Yaro would look towards her. "As much as I would like to 'greet' our guests, I promised Klaus we'd get this done quickly. We've wasted too much time as it s-" He stopped when a servant came up to him and whispered. " ~Sigh~, I need to deal with this, Oromis wants something. Klaus, can you-"

Chalondra would walk in. "Lord Klaus? you're needed."

At this point, Yaro was getting irritated. "What's wrong?"

"Mizuki just came back from an encounter with the Silver Lord- She's badly wounded, and on deaths door. If she isn't treated, she'll die."

"Nine hells, when it rains it pours....Klaus, go take care of your lover, I got to deal with Oromis. " He said, leaning down to kiss Prudence. "I love you....Don't worry, I won't be long." He said, before looking towards Edwin. "Remember- Try anything, and you're dead. Stay here." Yaro said, before walking out.

It wouldn't take long to find the man, though Yaro was clearly irritated. "What is the matter, Oromis? I've got a party of intruders coming to my city, a nearly dead demon in my house, a traitorous weed, and a fiancee who needs my care, not to mention I need to find a damn sword I've been searching for. I have a lot to deal with that demands my immediate attention. " He said. Let it never be said Yaro was one to waste time.

Klaus nodded in approval as Yaro stuck his neck out for him. Though the doctor wouldn't mind if he had some vermin to vent on. Before he could say anything further, Chalondra came in, informing everyone of Mizuki's condition. Silver Lord... that was another name for the Gravewalker, wasn't it? Without a single word, Klaus followed Chalondra to where Mizuki was.

When the doctor laid his eyes upon her, one eye twitched, as both grew moist from emotion. He let out a deep breath, wasting no time as a faint light emerged from his fingertips. This was his weakest, yet most efficient method of healing, simply called "To Spare the Dying." This way, Mizuki would stabilize, but without treatment she would fall unconscious. This was not a problem, for she would be treated immediately. As the lighted finger touched Mizuki's cheek, Klaus spoke up.
"Looks like you've gotten in over your head, and at an inconvenient time." He scolded her, though in a dissonantly calm tone.

"I can't simply heal your wounds right now. We have a case of.. civil disobedience.. to attend to shortly. We'll have to do this the old fashion way." The first step Klaus always took in cases like this was to get his patient absolutely hammered, so that pain was no hinderance. He always kept a potent bottle of liquor on him for this exact reason. He opened Mizuki's mouth, carefully pouring the liquor in, massaging her throat to induce swallowing.

"Besides that, I need to speak with you about the perpetrator of your wounds. We'll have plenty of time to do so this way." Now the doctor took the time to look over Mizuki's wounds. What exactly was he dealing with, here?

. . .

"We've already wasted too much time lingering. We need to get moving now before something else decides it wants to attack us." Aizen spoke up, all for getting to Amberjack and ending the Rebellion immediately.

"I'll vouch for the little guy, here. I already spent most of the day yesterday just getting here. I want to see some action!" Lenelia spoke his piece, certain that Dread shared this opinion.

Dreadnought merely nods, rolling his shoulders. "Yeah, I haven't done a whole lot since Leny and I got here. We keep going at this pace, I might start to rust."

While he was quite annoyed with the tone used here, he couldn't help but let a smile creep across his lips. "Hey now I'm no psychiatrist, but it seems you are overworking yourself!" He wondered why he added "take care of a fiance" on the list of important things. Oh well. "What party do you speak of that nears your castle? And who is the traitor? Why don't I take care of that, and you can go dance with your wife and find your knife and all that fun stuff!" He still held back laughter even though he tried not to. He resumed, "Even so, I can kill the worm or deal with him, then I can take a small dispatch and go handle that party that is so threatening! Easy as hell!" He grinned. "Take some pressure off of you right? Maybe that Demon whor- that Demon can help me do this." Now a smile blossomed, and unable to help himself, chuckled. Andraus Andraus

He took the items, but of course he didn't plan on using them. He wasn't going to use anyone until he figured out what was going on with this. However, the King had to take a shot. "Oh YES your majesty, let us not waste time! I mean, we were sleeping and that was certainly getting us places, so we certainly don't want to interrupt that! Does anyone else shake when in the presence of such a wise King!" He stepped closer, still out of sword's reach. "My King" he pronounced this with sickening mockery, as if daring the King to say otherwise, "I am in service to the Rose now. Do you not rather me an ally then an enemy? Sire, if there is one thing I will set my life to, it is the protection of the Rose against...threats."

He then stretched out. "BUT YES! Let us take the advice of royalty, and move on. Personally, I think this would be easier if we traveled through...faster lands?" Enuky Enuky Andraus Andraus DemetrioMachete DemetrioMachete transcendantviewer transcendantviewer

"No."

Yaro would lead Oromis back to the war-room. Lexus was standing there, as he had yet to meet Oromis. "Oromis, You are not a dagger, simply to be jabbed at my enemies- You are the tip of the spear, the lance, the one that should LEAD on the battlefield, and that is where you'll do the most damage. This is Lexus. He's in charge of the demons that serve us, and thanks to a bit of information from the past, I think we have a plan you'll enjoy to no end. Would you like to speak, Lexus?"

The Demon would bow his head respectfully, before pointing at a map of the Rose Kingdom. "It's widely assumed nowadays that Gallica Pass is the only access route into the Rose Kingdom, without risking the mountains. That is a load of bull." He said, before pointing towards a part of the mountains. "Right here is a river access, and over....here....is the ruins of the city of Hellebore. We destroyed it during the first raid, and most assumed it's haunted. The Saika Clan control the region, and take advantage of the rumors."

"That means a route into the Kingdom is left entirely unused and undefended. You know what this means Oromis?" Yaro asked the man. "It means we found a weakness in the shielding mountains of the Rose Kingdom- You won't be any use here, you're needed on the field. Your orders are to take control of the ruins proper. Once you do that..." Yaro would then get a smile on his face, more dark than anything.

"All you have to do is wait- Set the staging ground for an Invasion, and soon, the Rose Kingdom will be ours. You'll soon have more blood than you can spill."

The Batttle of the two armies was coming- It was time to go to war against The Rose Kingdom.

( Enuky Enuky You don't think I forgot about Hellebore, did you ;D ITS TIME FOR WAR NUKS!)

Klaus could see the wounds on Mizuki were vastly inconsistent with most of today's weaponry or magic.

The strike across her face was the most normal- Simple Mithril that cut into her cheek. However, this wasn't a sword cut, it was too jagged. IT looked like someone too a spike, and dragged it across her face, likely giving her a concussion. The wounds on her stomach and leg? They were a different matter.

The blades cut too cleanly, and they had a strange reaction to magical presence. Only one thing actually fit the description of this type of damage- Starmetal, a metal that is said to come from rocks that fall from the sky. They held a strange harmonic aura around them, were rare, and only master level smiths could forge with it. It was clear whoever held this weapons either got them from an expert, or was a master smith themselves.

Finally? The burns on Mizuki made no sense.

It was clear from the singed clothes that this was fire damage, but the wounds were inconsistent with normal fire- It looked more like acid had been splashed on her than anything. Either the assailant poured a liquid on her and lit it on fire, which was unlikely since demons were normally resistant to it, or it had been done by a new type of fire that Klaus hadn't seen yet. There was also the matter of what this fire was doing to Mizuki personally.

It was odd, but......It looked like the fire was eating both the dark energies and corruption around her, but also the holiness of Klaus's aura, though the effects were waning now.

What the hell did this?

Klaus stayed back , studying her wounds with a curious fervor. Just with his own mind, he did not know what to do about these.

But the Saint Cuthbert, a patron of Knowledge, he would.

Soon, Klaus' eyes rolled back into his head. He whispered to himself.

"I have come across highly peculiar wounds. I have come across highly peculiar wounds. They do not look normal, they do not look normal. How do I treat them? How do I treat them...?"

A few seconds passed, and the room would be filled with unintelligible whispers. Klaus nodded his head slowly, as though he did understand them. His eyes rolled back into position, and he began to move with haste.

"I can close your wounds conventionally. It will keep you from death. Your unique looking burns, however.. that will take time. Needless to say, it'll be a while before you should attempt combat again." He took up a needle and some thread.

"I am going to stitch your lascerarions. It's going to hurt. But, as drunk as I have gotten you.. You won't remember it."

The jagged cut across her face was simple enough. Heinrich smoothed his thumb over the wound, sure that his cold hand would feel nice over the burning, sore wound. He then took his needle, and after peeling the skin over the exposed flesh, began to stitch it up. He kept this up, and 10 stitches later, the wound was closed. Heinrich's movements were deeply focused, alarmingly fast, and completely unlike the eccentric crackpot he painted himself out to be.

He got to her body, and stuck the back of his hand against the slash wound. To numb it, to understand how clean the cut was, as well as how deep. He first pressed the cut together, unfettered by the blood, and stitched it up with agility. The cut on her body took about 40 stitches to seal shut. The cut on her leg, treated with the same focus, took 28.

After she was stitched up, Heinrich took a cloth wrap, and wrapped it around her stomach and leg, though only covered her stitched face with a strip of gauze. In all, the process of stitching her up took maybe 50 minutes.

"Are you able to hear me, Mizuki? I want you to listen carefully to my instructions if you want to heal." Klaus spoke with authority. "Keep your activity to a minimum. Sleep now while you are drunk. You are concussed, true. But! It is only a superstition that you must stay awake with a concussion." He circled around her, trying to make sure he didn't miss anything.
"Your burns will require a variety of treatments.. They resemble burns associated with various acids. When I have time to spare, we will first run cold water over them, and then attempt various base solutions involving soap, bicarbonate and mineral oils. For now.. Sleep the pain off, have someone watch over you. I am needed elsewhere." Before Klaus left the room, he clapped his hands.

"CHALONDRA!"

He couldn't help but feel he was being used now, such a quick dodge of his offer, and quick to pay with compliments. Whatever, so long as he held the end of the deal where he got the wealth and power, he didn't care. This was also the drive that kept him from speaking up when "your orders" came along. Whatever, if he wanted to play King, he could play it all he wanted. More schemes would surface, which he would bury in his mind until later.

He did pay attention to this all however, and took careful note of the map.Certainly a good find, as he never thought too much about how he would invade the road other than their main entrance. In fact, and battle plan he had would be about taking out secret fortifications in that road...but this, took it to a new place. He was very pleased with this find, though he kept a straight face.

"So how many do I get? I think it would be smarter for me to run around the country for a while raising an army so I can crush the opponents. I also have my elite guards that I want to take with me...so I think it time I return back to my home to get my personal soldiers before fighting." He stretched. "Unless any of you have a problem?" It was hardly a question, more of a challenge. "Also, fascinating that you have Demons working with you-what is their role..." He turned away from the King, and looked towards Lexus. "What is your and the rest of your lot's plan? Join me on the battlefield? I've never had the...honor of fighting with Demons before, I would imagine it is quite the experience, and I should wonder if you would be a valuable aspect."

He looked back to Yaro. "The mission is simple and easy. I suppose it is up to the Demons to decide where they will be here, and it is a question of how much you will give me to take the ruins, and beyond. Though I think my first step is returning back and recruiting."

He didn't bring up the fact that he should really be set up as King, nor did he mention that fact that sitting there and waiting at the ruins was a waste of an opportunity.

"I can also go recruit now, and meet up with a dispatch later if that is more convenient."
