And thus, like a long and elaborate dream, Yggdrasil came to a conclusion. The clamour of its vibrant and vast community had faded into naught but an echo, and finally, with little reason to carry on, the developers finally put the nail upon Yggdrasil's figurative coffin, and the game, at the stroke of midnight was fated to join the pantheon of its ancient predecessors, Runescape and World of Warcraft Among them.

Today marked the end of this current era of MMORPG.

Despite nearing its last breath, though, hundreds, if not thousands of fans remained online regardless of the late hours, some clearing through one last dungeon, one last quest, and others in their guild halls, awaiting its shutdown, to wave their favourite game one last goodbye.

The clock displayed on the UI showed 23:56, four minutes before imminent shutdown, following which they would inevitably be force-logged out of the game. All good things must come to an end, after all: thousands of hours, countless amounts of money poured into the game, it would all disappear within the next four minutes. It only made sense that some would not let it all go until the last second.

Do not go gentle into that good night.

Helnex, Havoc's End guild

Helnex walked around the halls of his guild build, watching as the factory went about creating more Magictech soldiers, that would never be used. Helnex thought about shutting it down but he couldn't do it. So instead he just went upstairs to the hall of founders of the guild, were holographic statues of the player's avatar looked down in serious poses like there were businessmen. Helnex sighed to himself, thinking that somehow out of all these great players, he was now the leader of the guild and it's the sole member to his knowledge now. "I hope to see all again in another game," Helnex said in a saddened tone.

Helnex then looked to a clock on the wall as it counted down to the end of the game. "It's almost over... I might as well stay till the end" Helnex added continue his walk in the halls as the clock went to its final seconds... or that what Helnex thought.

  • Alishia

    The Scholarly Alchemist
    Tall Tree
    Library --> Alchemy Laboratory

    23:00:04

Alishia hummed as she went through the library index once more. Aisles of books created a maze-like pathway, but she wasn't worried about getting lost. Whenever she put her hand on a book, a description popped up. A typical description would include the type of the book, the level of rarity, the usage of the book, and the lore behind it. The shelf in front of her, for example, was full of novels. Although they served no use in-game other than as cosmetic, Alishia had taken quite a liking of them, buying all that she could find. The novels piled up until it filled the shelves around her right now. She reorganised the books while humming.

    23:22:15

The shelves further inside were more non-conventional. Triangular sockets all over a wooden block, where a roll of paper occupied each socket. Scrolls.

In-game, scrolls were a one-use item that allows the use of spells outside of one's class. Instead of perusing them, Alishia just looked at the index with warmth in her eyes. The scrolls were one of her most prized possessions. Almost all of her effort in the game was put into creating these items. Several powerful scrolls were kept for an emergency, but scrolls like 5th Tier Spell: Lake Purification, which was an event exclusive, filled her with a sense of nostalgia. It was among one of the first exclusive scroll recipes she created. Had it been so long since she first joined Tall Tree, Alishia mused.

The deepest part of the library was even stranger. Shelves were scarce. Instead, pedestals stood far apart from each other, each housing a single book. Grimoires.

Grimoires were one level above spellbooks, the weapons of Scribes and Magic Scholars. They were able to store any spells within any spell trees, giving the user access to spells they were normally restricted from. Of course, creating a grimoire was no easy task. For a spell to be added to the grimoire, ten magic scrolls of the spells would be consumed. Throughout her years of playing, Alishia had collected over 3,000 spells, more than half of the spells available in YGGDRASIL! ...not that it mattered anymore.

    23:43:44

The alchemy lab could be accessed from the library. As Alishia passed through, a familiar figure clad in navy green stood, motionless. Acles. The Traveler NPC. His tattered cloak draped over his shoulders as majestic as a king's robe. The metal on his earring glinted under the orange light of the Rejuvenation Globe, emphasizing the rugged attraction of his unkempt hair and tanned, stubbled face. Alishia approached Acles and uttered his name.

    "Acles, follow."

As programmed, Acles turned at the command of her voice and faced her. His face remained expressionless. It was not possible to change one's expression in the game. Even Alishia, whose voice was clear and dignified thanks to the internal voice synthesizer, didn't move her lips as she spoke. The game hadn't reached that far. Not that it would ever reach that technology that the game was going to shut down.

Still facing Acles, Alishia glanced toward the clock on her peripheral view. In a few seconds, YGGDRASIL's server will shut down and she would be forced to log off. Back to her apartment in Quebec. Never could she return to Tall Tree. Never could she return to YGGDRASIL. At that thought, something inside her broke down. Not in YGGDRASIL, however. Alishia's face remained as impassive as it ever was. As impassive as it ever could be.

She put one arm over her chest. The server will go out in one minute. She had rehearsed her goodbye before, and she knew how she wanted to go. Only one last thing to do.

    "Acles, goodbye."

In one fluent movement, Acles raised one of his hand to the air and waved. Alishia mimicked his action, inwardly sighing over the details of his programmed action. Not that it mattered.

    "Well, this is goodbye then."

    23:59:58...
    23:59:59...

    Goodbye, YGGDRASIL.

    ...or so, she thought.

"Just because it's the end doesn't mean I need to stop!"
    "No please! Have mercy-"
    "Adios Le Black Swordsman!"
And so ended the playthrough of a famous Yggdrasil player known as Kirito, as a sword of electricity sliced his head cleanly off.

Both the body and rolling head disintigrated into data, as FAFNIR sighed to herself.

"Really? Is that the last person I am able to kill?"
She asked herself, before pulling out a lollipop out of her side pocket on her left leg. She unwrapped the packaging and put the sweet delight in her mouth, savoring the delecasy.

"Guess this is the last time I can eat one of these in game too."
And so, the countown to the end began.

Dolce, NPC Queen of Harvest

The last minutes of the game. Some members of Harvest actually stayed behind. They cleared one last dungeon and had one last lengthly chat about their past endevours. Harvest was a great PK guild, but there was more to them than that. Each member had a specialization, and each of them brought in a wealth of knowledge and perspectives. That was what made it a great guild.

As they sat there, gathered in the throne room, one of them had an idea. What if they took the two main NPCs of the last floor and brought them at the entrance of the guild? Dolce and Rosa where not alive, but as a symbolic gesture, the Great Lords decided to "show" the two how the outside world looked like.

One more minute until shut down...

The remaining guild members simply left one by one, they didn't wait for the last minutes of it. The NPCs left to bask into the artificial sunlight of their virtual world. And there, in the very last seconds, two figures were reflected in the ridiculously high-definition pixle irises of Dolce and her subordinate Rosa. One was blury and hard to properly see... and the other was...

Ignis?

Where is Something? A question asked many times by those who knew her, and those who knew her by the countless aliases. It wasn't as simple as checking a friends list, given the frustrating ability to alter there own location or online status combined with the multiple profiles that forwarded to the same individual it was often like looking for a needle in a haystack that might as well just be a straw itself. In truth, the only way of finding her reliably was through a chance message if she wished to be found or sought out the individual themselves.

This had been how she had always been since starting her time in the grand game, a similar case in her real life as well but never to such an extent. Though to answer the question for the moment she was in fact amongst the ruins of the Yarazhan Opera fight, The bleachers that remained filled with a variety of forms with instruments, several notable players within the game all appeared to have been gathered for a final strange performance as the doomsday clock of this world ticked ever closer to midnight.

Several figures danced, Several played like a festival among the ruins with Somebody at the center spinning around and around. However, as the time drew closer figures would start to vanish and fall over with their numbers ever-dwindling, departing in digital fragments as the ability that maintained them ended. The process continued until there were only five remainings and the music had long since died down, Somebody speaking with a sad smile "Quintet" another figure vanishes "Quartet" another "Trio" one more "Duet" and then with a final figure gone there she was all alone, giving one last sigh as the time hit midnight her eyes closing finally.

"Solo"

Nothing unites people like a deadline and someone they hate. Dozens of players of all races, classes, levels, and guilds had gathered on Yggdrasil's last day for one purpose: to kill Billions. The notorious player-killer was finally going to face mob justice for his relentless slaughter of players, NPCs, and every other thing he'd murdered that had gotten in the way of other players. One of the members of the Edge Syndicate had sold out the guild just before leaving, accepting a huge bribe from all those who wanted revenge in exchange for the guild's location. And now a small army of pissed off players was about to take their vengeance.

The Edge Syndicate had hidden their guildhall in plain sight. On a plain. The building was invisible and intangible unless you had a magic ring, but the leaders of the Kill Billions Army had a plan. There was no way Billions would refuse a fight, so they'd lure him out and overwhelm him with sheer numbers. With well over a hundred players there was no way their plan could fail.

n00bn0b (level 75) shouted out his challenge at the front entrance of the guildhall. With his assassin skills he should be able to dodge Billions while the others closed in. Their mole had guaranteed Billions would be in the building, even sending a picture of him in the main hall minutes before the raid. But a minute passed after n00bn0b's initial taunting and Billions didn't appear. The players outside started getting restless. Had their mole been lying? Where was Billions?

Then they heard a faint sound. It got louder as they looked up. They could now recognize it as music that was getting louder as it's source got closer. A boom box landed in the middle of the group, and they scattered before realizing it wasn't an explosive. The mob quickly began using every spell and skill they had to figure out where Billions was. Then the boom box exploded, taking out every player under 40th level in it's blast radius. And as Billions appeared in their midst, having teleported to the location of the fresh corpses, the song rose over the sounds of the ensuing massacre.

"This is your time to pay!
This is your judgment day!
"

It wasn't Billions's blade that hit the gathered players first, it was his auras. Debuff after debuff crippled healing, negated buffs, and fizzled out spells. Then his blade began hitting them, with a quarter of the group going down in the first minute of combat. The rest of the raid group tried to rally, but the size of their party made coordination impossible. And Billions wouldn't stand still, sprinting or teleporting from one kill to the next, never staying in one place long enough to be pinned down.

"MOB HIM! HE'S JUST ONE MAN!"
"NEED HEALING!"
"GHFL:DGBKLMFD!!!"

Finally out of desperation the raid group risked their allies by using AoE attacks in the vain hope of catching Billions in them. One high level fire spell actually did manage to do damage, but Billions then proceeded to tank every single fire spell after that and quickly healed and then overhealed using his class abilities through killing those assembled against him.

In the end the army fell apart and scattered, trying to flee. Some did, but most were quickly dispatched by Billions's superior speed and teleportation. The clearing was left empty of all except Billions just as the song ended, with the entire battle having taken just under 3 minutes. Billions picked up his boom box, selected another song, and then trotted off to find more people to kill in the last few minutes of Yggdrasil's existence. He'd sold his own location to the mob. He got paid, they got the chance to kill him, and he got a guaranteed finally massacre. Everyone won. Well, mainly him.

Just as Yggdrasil ended Billions was in mid-swing to bisect a giant butterfly.

As the countdown ticked down to 00:00, to the end of Yggdrasil, the players that remained would have been force-logged out of Yggdrasil as its servers were put down for good.

Well, at the very least, that was what was supposed to happen on paper. As the timer hit midnight, the screens of each player would start to blur, and become hazy. Damned devs - seems like they added a special force-logout effect or something? Their visions would rapidly decline until everything was a hazy mess, before blacking out, only for a split second. In fact, it had been so short that it was about as dismissible as a sudden, temporary drop in FPS.

However, in that single second, the scenery had completely shifted - Helnex was no longer standing in the vast, mechanized halls of Havoc's End, nor Alishia in her vast libraries. Something was suddenly not by her lonesome, Dolce and her subordinate, Rosa were somehow no longer standing at the entrance to their guild, and as for Billions and the unfortunate butterfly he decided to hate in particular...

Well, let's just say that the unfortunate bug that he had just decided to murder on a whim was replaced by a smug little dragon-girl with a pink hoodie, blissfully sucking on a lollipop, likely moments before she was cut clean in half.

What had happened? Wasn't Yggdrasil meant to shut down? Why were they all teleported to some random location? And most importantly, why did the graphics suddenly upgrade? Did the devs pull the greatest troll in the history of mankind, and updated the game and hit the reset button on the world map while everybody thought the game was dying for good?

And the most pressing question of all...

Why did it hurt like fuck?

Aside from the sudden change in scenery, those who unfortunately did not possess immunity to Necrotic would suddenly feel a sharp sting all over their body, a distinct pain digging into every inch of their skin. It didn't take a genius to realize that they were all taking some form of DOT, and neither was it hard to realize that the culprit was the thick, grey miasma that permeated the air. Whatever the mist in the air was, it was applying constant ticks of necrotic damage to them, and it was more than enough to put a thick dent in their HP if left alone long enough.

Thanks to the grey mist saturating the air, their surroundings was a touch difficult to completely survey. They were standing in some sort of forest clearing, though to call it a 'forest' was a bit of a stretch. The ground was devoid of grass, dyed in a sickly grey colour. The trees in the distance lacked any leaves, having long died out and petrified to a pitch black colour, oozing with the scent of death. Looming in the far distance was a structure that was as tall as the sky itself, was the shadowed silhouette of a structure some would be able to recognize as the limited-time dungeon, 'The Phantomhaunt Bonespire'.

Strange, the Bonespire wasn't located near any forests, be they alive or dead. It was at the heart of a cast necropolis on an artificial island in the middle of nowhere, shrouded by mist. Perhaps, the devs did indeed press reset on the map. That being said, their location wasn't exactly the issue at hand. A solution about the constant necrotic damage was more important, and more than that, there was a soft skittering of countless legs around them. Seems like the mobs around here weren't too friendly either.

Helnex, Havoc's End guild

Helnex looked around at his surroundings and the strange cast of people around him. While the surroundings were dark and glooming, Helnex some how fine and calm with it. Helnex has many things going through his head, like should he be logged out in his room, why was his avatar teleported here, and why did he feel like drinking... Blood? It was a lot to think about and Helnex hoped those around him would have some kind of answers. "Do any of you know what's going? Was I wrong about the shutdown time and why did a event go off bringing us here?" Helnex asked those around him.

And while others used their final moments in the game to reminisce, or fight, or play... the high-ranking members of the Deep Sea Trading Company did what they did best: Planned for the future.

It was aboard a massive shipping vessel that was easily the size of a small island, sailing beside it were a fleet of smaller ships. Fishmen and pirates went about managing the vessels, but by this point they were mostly NPCs. Many of their creators had already logged off, save for the those at the top of the Food Chain. For aboard the bridge of the shipping vessel were over a dozen actual players, all of whom sat around an overly menacing table while discussing their ploys... their schemes... their plot to continue making money even in the face of the game's demise.

The one standing player was a grizzled navy commander who raised a baton before slapping the tip of it against a large board they had set up beside the table, "I'm telling you, Realms Reborn is the next step! I don't see how any of you are missing this!"

"Pfft, so he says." A woman with a pirate getup rolled her one good eye while adjusting her eye-patch "If any o' us need to explain this then I ain't sure how you got ya position there, Sir Reginald."

The commander growled, "What other options are there? We got studies that Realms Reborn has already nabbed seventy percent of YGGDRASIL's player base, we've got too many connections heading over there. We can't just ignore a boon like that!"

The Pirate slammed a fist on the table, "Have you seen there Marketplace, Man? I knew from the moment they said Free-To-Play that they'd end up screwing their own economy and look where we are? Just last week they introduced purchasable booster packs that completely neuter the endgame, there's no way in hell I'm putting time into a trainwreck like that."

A cough from across the table made her look to an overly muscled man with the head of an Orca and several tentacles trailing from his neck, "While I would have put it in better terms, she has a point. We've all seen what this kind of thinking does to a game, and I'm just not certain we could hope to replace YGGDRASIL with something so... fragile?"

He looked around the table, and several of the other members began voicing similar concerns. The commander looked stupefied, shaking his head before slapping his baton to the board again, "So we're just going to ignore this?!?"

"What about Infernus?" Another Fish Person asked "That one's already getting game of the year nominations."

"Its not even out yet!" the Commander shouted "Plus its a sequel to a game everyone knows wasn't designed for one. Maybe if it wasn't shaping up to be a PR nightmare then-"

"You're looking at this too narrowly, Reggie." A distorted voice echoed from the other side of the table, where a slumped over figure finally raised their head "Why focus on only one game?"

"Oh so now you're gonna speak up, Princess?" Commander Reginald folded his arms, "And hear I was thinking you'd ride out our last moments in silence."

A figure covered in abyssal moss and with alien-like tendrils emerging from its form leaned up in its seat, before its odd eye-like protrusions turned towards him, "That was the plan, seeing as we're gonna have this conversation with the others on the forum right after the game ends. But I can't just allow such an embarrassing idea continue being sustained."

"Here she goes again," the Pirate snickered as the Orca-Man rubbed at his head

Slowly getting up from its seat, the figure stepped away from the table as the numerous fleshy tentacles stretched out. Soon two planted themselves on either side of the figure and lifted it off the floor. Using them as legs, it approached the board with a shake of its head.

"We've accumulated far too many subsidiaries here to let them go to waste." it stated as one of its other tendrils traced the images on the board "When a game this big goes down, its players don't tend to migrate en masse unless an extremely similar game is presented. Realms Reborn is not that, the similarities are there but no hardcore YGGDRASIL player's gonna mistake the two. Nah, the playerbase is gonna be darting around the new releases for a while before things settle down. With how many of us got friends in similar predicaments, it'd be insane not to utilize this chance to spread."

"We won't be able to establish firm enough groundings if we spread our ops that thin, Penelope." the commander tried, only for the abyssal figure to turn to him as something writhed under its chitinous form.

"Relax, Reggie." it tilted its head "Morris already finished setting up our site and we've got dedicated channels in several others, we work this angle properly and we could be looking at some major branding in the near future."

Looking away, the creature shook its head, "And I told you, In-Game its Mr. Sunk... nothing more... nothing less." Sunk turned away and looked over the assembled players, "We can finish this discussion on the Questlet's Forum. Morris and his boys should be getting on soon."

With nodding from the assembled Guildmates, they all relaxed and waited for the end to come. Why bother logging out when the game was going to do it for you?

But for Mr. Sunk, they'd never make it to that meeting.

Instead... he'd been... teleported?

The moment he appeared in the grey mist, Mr. Sunk immediately twisted his head around to try and figure out the best explanation for why he was still in the game. Immediately his gaze locked onto the identifiable form of the Phantomhaunt Bonespire, something that was nowhere close to the ocean in the base game. All of a sudden Sunk had the irritating idea that players might not have been intended to be online when the servers went down, and that their ability to enjoy the last moments right up until the disconnect might've lead to some unintended consequences for the dev team.

And would you look at that, other players had been dumped here too.

It was a bug to end all bugs, but that would be saved for later, as the corruption rippling throughout his form writhed at the presence of a stinging sensation that Sunk instantly recognized. Ah yes, Necrosis, but this wasn't right. This Status effect might've been common to creatures that spawn in the Bonespire Tileset, but they only had it be dungeon-wide like this for certain events. And what was this damage? Usually Mr. Sunk's Deep Corruption would boost resistance to status effects like this, but even with those resistances the chips of HP he was losing was unnatural.

Could a bug this big even be possible?

A question for later, instead he turned his attention to the other players who had been transported there with him. He was about to ask if any were Supports when the skittering drew his attention, and now the mobs were jumping in. What in the hell was happening here? He once more pushed down his confusion to instead call out to a player anyone in the know would recognize from appearance alone.

"Hey Billions, ya mind ditching the lil' girl and turning that blade o' yours onto something with a bit more bite?" he called out as his tentacles lifted him off the ground once more and began backing away from the incoming mobs "Big ass monsters just look a whole lot cooler getting cut down, ya know?"

As he was making sure to distance himself from the oncoming mobs, he heard words of confusion over their predicament already coming from one of the other players, "It looks like some kind of extremely off-kilter bug, don't know why and can't really care at the moment. I have a meeting to get to after this so-"

He tried to log out and found that he couldn't.

Tilting his head in confusion, he tried again only to find that his U.I. was acting wonky as well..

"What the hell did they do?" he muttered in confusion before turning his attention to the forest around them, "Whatever, the sooner we're away from this combat encounter the sooner we can try getting in touch with Tech Support, assuming that isn't broken as well."

Somethings eyes were snapped open again by a sudden chilling sting, the sensation lasting for a moment before abating though that was the least of their concerns as their minds themselves burst forward as entirely new yet with all the memories she had shared across each in a distorted and bizarre sensation that forced their hand to the back of there head attempting to disconnect her headset and yet finding nothing but hair.

Something was very very wrong like their mind was scattered across their entire body with constant echoes of her every thought yet also each being far sharper and faster than she was used to, and that was not even getting started on how their body itself felt. Everything was just so...wrong and yet normal, senses and sensations she couldn't describe, literal eyes not only behind her but also across her entire form like she was tiny squirming but also whole. All this was before she even started to comprehend just where they were or the fact she couldn't disconnect, the fact the smell and feel of the world around her was as if she was walking around in real life. Their name...Their name was, They were Something Something, no they were Nechto..all of them was Nechto... wait for all of them? They were one person, no they were many people, hands come up to her head as they try and comprehend what was happening and what they were along with a rapid flood of information that made their heads spin.

They only now realized the almost frantic breathing that had been going on, a sensation across her entire body pulsing as it expanded and contracted with the mist next to their body being moved around slightly like one's breath. Trying to focus the breathing slowly slowed as the new being she was tried to put things in order, no easy task as in addition to her own issues she also had the sensory overload of everything around them including the individuals around her. It took several moments but she was starting to adapt, pushing aside the concerns, for now, to focus on a single task, itemizing it all slowly.

Each person revealed far more information than she was used to, the details only increasing as she looked further, taking in the slightest curve of their facial features, the exact shade of the eyes, hair and so much more. No, she needed to keep it simple for now, file the rest away, and have some of her other minds handle that while rest focused on the simple stuff. Their location was most likely a variation of the Phatomhaunt Bonspire, there were several players in their immediate vicinity...Fafnir an emotionally chaotic Dragonoid, NoJoke a Nephlim PK'r and Guild member, Helnex a Vampire, Alishia a High Elf, Achles an Automation, Guts Demonic Automation, Dolce Aeon, Rosa a Oni and finally Penelope Princess a Deep Lord. She usually among of information far exceeded just the simple names but as she had decided, it was important to keep moving on less she stand still forever.

Ok, we have what is around, now we have that what are we going to do? We need information on our circumstances and what is happening, the others look confused as well and they are thinking....similar questions at the moment as to the nature of the change so keep monitoring that while the rest of us think further. Helnex's words confirmed this, ok so these thoughts were from the players gathered, what to do....ok we need to act composed and together, game time with the usual activities.

Taking another slow breath Something stands up straight with a faint smile to their face as they spin around on a foot in an almost dancer-like fashion to face Helnex "Well we...I do think Kansas is a distance away no? Given everything here, its easy to tell things are far more real and the normal overviews, menus, and heck even log offs don't seem to be a thing, oh and that interesting scent and sensation? If I knew better I would say this is real among other things, though I shouldn't need to explain all the obvious no? Perhaps for dear Penelope but that can wait" The tone was in a playful sing-song as they strode around slightly, keeping an eye in all directions. The fact their thoughts were split up in such a way really was strange but the fact it was also starting to feel natural was strange too, though they were unsure if that was a good or bad thing, for not it was useful in the very least. The confusion coming from Penelope was slightly amusing to parts of her, even as distressing and freaky the entire situation was, best to not let them know and or show just how close she herself was to losing it completely

"So Helnex, my Friend and the rest are having a very strange morning in general, I personally would think information is still the most useful commodity, that hasn't changed, so the only question is how we go about accruing it. Looking around is the easy part, finding more beyond those simple intelligence monsters around us would be useful as they cant answer questions leading to the closest target being the Bonespire itself if it still holds those intelligent NPC's....well provided they have more than the usual amount of dialogue hmm? The insects can be dealt with quite handedly im sure with little concern but those who are capable of holding a conversation? do try not to be too forceful with them at least until said conversations have taken place.".

The light dancing steps continued, the real reason behind such was Something really needed to familiarize herself with this new body as, like her thoughts and sensations, the movement itself was instinctual and normal, yet bizarre and alien at the same time, quite hypocritical indeed. Moving a leg was as if moving a thousand parts of the leg at once, each thinking about the way it should move in a step she was still trying to understand how she knew how to make. All I all, things were weird and she was sure they would get weirder but she wasn't about to stop dancing.

The first thing Alishia noticed was the pain. No, seriously. It was like fire ants were biting her all over the place. She let out a yelp.

"Who raised the pain sensitivity level?! I never raised it over one percent for a reason!" The only way to change the sensitivity was through the game's main screen. However, no matter where she looked, the logout menu never popped up.

    "[Environment Resistance]"

A dark red glow suddenly enveloped the high elf. The prickling stopped. Alishia turned toward the source of the voice. The ever so familiar voice of a famous actor she was secretly fawning over. The voice sample she used as a basis for Acles' voice. It was Acles. Her automaton NPC. Alishia stared intensely at him. Feeling her stare, Acles tilted his head.

"[Environment Resistance] only stops further environmental damage, Miss. It's best if you heal yourself. Phantomhaunt Bonespire is home to high level undead."

    "Ah, yes. [Healing]"
Alishia waved her wand and pointed at her own body. Her HP instantly returned to its full capacity. Acles' face retained its impassive, bored look. He nodded.

"The layout of this land is also different from the one stored in my memory bank so teleportation won't be safe. I recommend grouping with the others Heroes here. Their firepower should proven to be a great help to our survival."

"Ah, of course." A gentle smile was all Alishia showed. Her fingers ceaselessly interacted with the menu in front of her while her eyes observed everything around her without a miss. The automaton continued to talk as if he didn't notice anything wrong.

"Unfortunately, there seems to be a magic field that restricts any flying options. [Greater Haste] is still an option as is [Lightweight Cargo] so our usual way of travelling won't be an issue. No need to worry, Miss. Even if the others are proven to be unreliable, I am confident at our escaping ability from anything."

"Ah yes, together we will be unbeatable- as if I'm going to say that!"
Alishia stomped her foot to the ground in frustration. Talking NPC?! Moving facial features?! The acrid smell of dead body in the air so thick she could taste it?! She had read enough light novel to know what this is. The elf stared at the mistly horizon with spite in her eyes.

"Like hell I'll enjoy being transported into another world!"

    Acles stared his chin, impassive.

Dolce Requiem and Rosa Crimson- The Strongest NPCs of Harvest

"Lord Ignis!" Both Dolce and Rosa blurted out as the scenery instanly changed. They were now in a different area, dark and ominous, oozing with the scent of death, a depressive area of lifeless trees and bones, in complete contrast with the evergreen forest and sunshine they experienced before being teleported. There was also the necrotic miasma, but both Dolce and Rosa had racial traits that made them immune to necrotic damage. To this situation, one could only wonder...

"Did the Great Lords decide to redecorate the front yard of the guild using the bones of of those filthy casuals they talk so much about? I love it!" Rosa tuned in cheerfully. Dolce however, was skeptical.

"Doubt." She sent a telepathic message to Rosa. The oni girl suddenly became stiff. The conversation from that point onwards was only in their minds.

"I a-am sorry I offended you, Lady Dolce."
"No such thing. I simply believe we are far away from the guild. I tried to contact the others, but to no avail. This is not an illusion either and..." Dolce turned around to the other people present. "I do not recognize anyone from this ragtag group gathered here."
"Should we attack?" Rosa smiled malevolently as she gripped her weapon tightly.
"No." The decisive curt mental reply made Rosa sweat. "We need to assess the situation first."
"Understood, my queen."

Dolce analysed everyone around them carefully. One thing stood out from their interactions.

"They use many of the terms that out Great Lords used to: bugs, virtual games, tech support, channels, forum, players, and the big event that they refered to as the Shutdown. These people are... Great Lords of other guilds." Dolce mentally transmitted her brief analysis to Rosa. "So far they do not seem hostile, so we should try to act friendly, but be on guard."
"As expected of Lady Dolce!"

From discussions she constantly overheard from the Great Lords, the best way to handle a social situation was... to first intereact with the most approachable, friendly-looking people. In this situation those were, the elf and what looked like her person of desire for copulation, or how the Great Lords liked to call it: boyfriend. They were also the closet to their position and they looked the most distressed.

"We shall approach the elven woman and the plain-looking man first."
"Ok~"

Dolce walked with elegance and the refined air of royalty. Obvisously, her attire and crown helped in portraying her as such.

"Greetings. I am Dolce Requiem, NPC Queen of the guild Harvest. This child close to me is Rosa Crimson, my subordinate. We mean no harm." She said, on a calm pleasant tone.
"Hello~" Rosa acted like a cute little kid, speaking softly and walking close to the two. "Are you what they call... a normie couple? Tehe." She asked, with sparkles in her eyes. But in her mind, what she actually thought about was...

Spineless garbage.

The sudden sensory overload caused Billions to jerk back, his blade stopping a centimeter from the girl's face before it was retracted. Smell, taste, a world that looked and sounded REAL, what had just happened? And he could FEEL his body, from his massive form to his sharp fangs to the comfort of his armor containing him. He felt his overhealed HP momentarily drop before his immunity kicked in, but couldn't see access the menu to see what had happened.
Gundam Watcher 27 Gundam Watcher 27

The player who now dwelled within Billions's body quickly began making observations. Due to his use of hardware there was no way his current situation could be due to a software change unless there was some sort of mind control device inside his game gear. It was also unlikely that he'd somehow been put inside his character's body and transported to another world. Assuming the former was true when the latter was the reality could lead to embarrassment. The reverse being true would could result in death. So right now the best way to move forward was to be cautious and keep an open mind. He still had his character's abilities, and his gear was still on him so he didn't have to worry about that.

Okay, assuming that whatever this new world was had power levels close to Yggdrasil he should be fine when it comes to danger. That still left the issues of food, water, and shelter. His character didn't need to sleep or eat (even in-game his racial classes meant his Anathemic nature sustained him), but Billions didn't know if that applied to him as well. And he did feel like he COULD eat if he wanted to. The thought of sinking his fangs into something felt right, especially if it was meat.

Ah, Mr. Sunk was here too. Billions hadn't seen much point in getting involved in the game's economy beyond what was necessary for keeping Billions equipped and the rest of his guild happy, but he had ensured he knew what was happening with it. And Mr. Sunk had a reputation. If what had happened to all of them was connected to Yggdrasil maybe it had to do with the most well-known players? But Billions didn't recognize any of the other players other than Something. And with his combat warning abilities kicking in he sensed the approach of enemies. Well, he'd have to be careful, but now was the time to determine the level of this world's creatures.
But first he needed to make sure the rest of the group had his back "Copy someone useful and join in, Something. The rest of you do what you can, whatever this is we don't want to die to these things."
PlusUltra PlusUltra GrieveWriter GrieveWriter

Having entered combat Billions's auras activated, debuffing the enemy with everything he had as Billions dropped into a ready stance. His sword was drawn, time to get his slay on.

    20:00:00

It was strange in all honesty... to be standing here in his garden of life whilst the world around it prepared to die. Yet no level of green thumb could replace the damages that had been done to it, only the flakey expectation of monetary influx could help that out. Pulled from his thoughts, the armored knight looked up to see the image of an aurochs staring down at him. Despite the fact that this beast had been nothing more than a fragment of data floating about, he couldn't help but find it almost lifelike. The way its eyes looked into his visor... slowly he lifted a hand up and gently stroked the beasts face, he ensured his due diligence when it came to avoiding the horns and more 'aggro gaining' points that the beasts had. "Don't worry Varkis... I'll be alright." The faintest hint of sorrow could be gathered from the echoey voice within the helmet, though the creature showed no response and instead began to return to it's pathing around the pasture.

His eyes swept over the field as he began to recount all of his hard work. Twenty-five aurochs females, One aurochs bull, and twelve calves all of the highest yielding stock... a total of roughly 25mil gp. Beyond the pastures fence, he could see some of the vegetation he had grown, anything from the field of golden wheat all the way down to the small grove of peach trees. He'd spent at least two billion gp in making this whole thing work... it was his art in away. The beeping of an all too familiar sound pulled his attention to the inbox notification on his screen. "A raid? Well... it is the last day." With that he reached his hand up and seemed to teleport, reappearing at the instance locale of the dungeon.

    23:52:00

Less than ten minutes remained in the lifetime of this beloved world, the one that had brought him so much pleasure and an equal amount of pain. He looked around to the others, they stood around outside of their guildhall with two of the remaining powerhouses of the guild- those were of course NPCs. In more ways than one they were the ones who had managed to keep this magnificent fortress safe, whether that be from the brutal resistance they gave against those who tried invading or merely being a fun, and heavily scripted, interaction. It was hard to imagine that they would be disappearing too. As if the sun too were on a timer, he watched it slowly begin to dip down towards the horizon. A wave of dancing color scattering across the landscape, he held his hand out towards it and could almost feel the gentle warmth... almost.

He opened his inventory screen once more and began to scroll through it, slowly but surely adding up the cost of the cash items he had attained over the time he'd been playing. In all honesty, he wouldn't have been surprised if it accrued almost as much debt as his attempts at college had. Closing that tab once more he watched as figures began to fade out of view, and slowly his chatlog was filled with notifications of his guildmates logging out for the very last time. They must have not wanted to stick around for its conclusion. Slowly but surely the online members had diminished into the single digits, but that was fine... it would all be over soon anyway.

    23:59:50

It had taken him this long to think of something to say, but given how late it had gotten there was no reason for him to make the moment any sadder than it already was. Turning to look behind him, he could see that the two NPCs seemed to be staring over towards the sunlight- they probably wanted a better view if he had to guess. So without another word, his form began to fade into a translucent state of etherealness. Only as the last seconds ticked towards them did he open his mouth, "This was fun... let's meet again.". That was the last thing he'd stated before turning to stare back into the sinking sun.

'If only it could stay this way... a little longer-'

Little did he know, that absent-minded thought would soon become a harsh reality.

    00:00:01

The end of the game that helped him to escape the bleak reality that was his life. A little voice in the back of his head kept saying he should have seen this coming, but the part of him that loved this experience was still in denial. All he’d have left now were the walls of his hospital room and the beeping of the machines that surrounded him. “Ugh.”

Onboard one of the guild’s mightiest vessels, Zetian sat at a table with his peers and dare he say friends. They had put in so much work to build this guild to new heights and now it was all supposed to just disappear.Zoning in and out of the conversation at hand he was able to discern the topic of discussion. “A new game?” It seemed highly unlikely that there would be a game to rival YGGDRASIL and if there was one, how long would it take before that game was on the level they wanted it to be.

Overcome with despair and gloom Zetian sank down in his seat and left the debating to his companions. He had so much more invested in this game than just levels and items. Closing his eyes and dozing off every few seconds he didn’t notice when the time had come for the game to shut down, nor did he notice when the game seemed to glitch. It wasn’t until the weird smells and dry wind brushed against him that he finally awoke and looked around. “Huh?” Slowly Zetian turned a full 360, looking around at the unfamiliar location he found himself at.

Why did this all look so real? Why did his body feel...healthy and why did his body not look like his own? Right away Zetian recognized the voice of Sunk and that set him at ease, somewhat. He began to notice a few familiar faces, but all were characters from within the game. He had dreamt of this situation over a dozen times, but there was no way this was really happening. As noises emerged from the mist Zetian’s head snapped, turning quickly towards the direction the sound was coming from. “Princess.” Zetian called out casually as he approached his guildmate’s side.

This was a difficult situation as spells cast could harm other players and their enemies were unseen. “Best keep things safe.” With uncertainty as to whether his next action would work or not, Zetian raised his hands out to his sides. “Heal!’ It was a 6th tier spell that could restore a great deal of health in addition to healing various diseases and other abnormal status conditions. He could see that some of them were taking damage over time from necrotic. This may not fix that, but at least they would be healed somewhat.

The skittering noises became louder, thousands of legs of the mobs closing in. Then came the loud hissing as thousands of glowing, red dots manifested from beyond the mist. As they drew close, their silhouettes became clearer...

Spiders. Hundreds of enormous, ravenous spiders. The creatures froze, the surroundings falling silent for a moment, before one suddenly pounced with a horrid screeching noise. Fangs and legs outstretched, the creature went straight for Alishia, who appeared to be the most fragile member of the party. Following the initiation, the rest of the spiders rushed in, like a pack of Zerglings. They seemed to all be Deathweaver Drones, and a quick analysis would reveal them to all be around level 45, which luckily meant that they posed little to no threat - a single AOE could likely finish the job rather quickly.

Though, it was rather troubling when one takes into account that Deathweaver Drones didn't spawn outside of a particular spider dungeon, meaning that for one reason or the other, two dungeons had been placed in relatively close vicinity. Aside from that, it was impossible for mobs to leave dungeon instances. Would that mean the high-level undead of the Bonespire could pour out en-masse?

A new world?

To Mr. Sunk's surprise, that thought had come up almost immediately after he vented his annoyance. From the way they put it, shouldn't he be feeling more about his body than usual. With his inhuman hands stretching up to rub at the ancient shell-like substance that mad up his corrupted body, he had no choice but to admit that the sensory input was... wrong. Oh he wasn't feeling his own fingers on his body, but he did feel something scouring underneath it every time he poked at it. But there was no reason to panic, that was just the corruption doing what it did whenever a Host of Mortis went pawing at their character like that. But the feelings it gave him this time were not to be understated.

He was numb to most of the world, except that which was contained within his muted vessel.

While he wasn't exactly ready to subscribe to this whole trapped in another world idea which seemed to be sprouting up among the others, he'd readily concede that this went way beyond a mere glitch. In fact, the world wasn't enough of a problem, there was also something wrong with the players around him as well. Besides the screeching from that one blonde getting hefted around by her straight-laced boytoy, there was the way that one black-haired girl was just accepting the odd circumstances so readily. But Something wasn't even the most odd, those two role-players who approached the screecher. One of them called herself an NPC, and of Harvest no less. While it wouldn't be the first time Sunk has seen a weird Roleplay theme get initiated in an extremely unfit time, something about the way she said it was odd beyond the others.

Luckily, Sunk wasn't alone in this confusion. Another member of the DSTC approached, it seemed Zetian got sucked up in this mess as well. He advised they keep cautious and was quick to heal in response to the status effect still chipping away at their health.

"Right," he responded before looking to the screecher, who through all the yelling and arguing he was starting to recognize as yet another high-level player "Given the levels of those in attendance, I'd say most of us should have enough resources to outlast the debuff, save for a worst case scenario."

He wasn't sure how much stock to put into the whole 'Other World' angle, but bugs as big as this one could be lethal to an OS. Getting killed now would only strain it further, and Sunk didn't have all his documents backed up. Then there was that weird sensation coursing within, despite the numb body he couldn't help but feel wrong because of it. But such things were a matter for another time, right now their quarries revealed themselves. And almost immediately the tension he'd felt vanished.

Deathweaver Drones? Here?

Now it was more confusion than anything else, replaced subtly with annoyance, "Ugh, whether another world or a bug, this kinda placement is sloppy."

Seriously, just having Billions alone was overkill for this kind of push back. Sunk almost felt bad for getting the guy primed for battle, as even a Merchant-focused trader like him could wipe the floor with mobs of this scale. And there went his consideration for that Screecher's offer, Mr. Sunk merely used his tendrils to look over the heads of those assembled to the sheer number of the mobs approaching. While they weren't a threat, they did provide an opportunity to test something.

The moment that one lunged for Alishia, one of those tendrils sailed down and took hold of the beast's abdomen before whipping it off the ground. Sunk held up the creature with two of his tendrils before a third emerged from his back and spread its claw open. The hole in the center of the claw diluted before a single spike slid out, As the monster thrashed, Mr. Sunk stabbed the spike into its head and pumped fluids into it.

"If this mechanic still works, than most of your abilities should as well." He mentioned to the others before turning to them with the spider still trapped in his clutches, "All in favor of dealing with these quickly so we can take this somewhere else? I find I'm not in the mood for dealing with Dungeon hazards on top of the strange occurrences."

As he spoke, he tossed the spider back towards the incoming horde, with it immediately turning around and charging into its former arachnid kin only to be torn apart as its brothers lunged for the players. Sunk merely had his tendrils deal with them, the sharpened spike tips whipping out and stabbing any bug to draw near, only for them to be tossed into the fray and turn on the other spiders immediately.

Helnex

Helnex sighed putting his hand to his face as Something spoke of information as a commodity, which while Helnex didn't disagree with her on most points the framing of it made him not hopeful for her full help with this problem. It reminded him a bit to much of his father. "Not everything has to be a commodity..." Helnex said being brief with his disraste of it, And luckily he would not have to go in more detail on the subject, as Deathweaver Drones attacked the group.

"I agree we should finish them quickly and discuss what to next else were," Helnex said pulling out his laser sword. He paused for a second wondering how this felt different from before yet so natural. This should be game and yet he was feeling the armor on him, the weight, padding touching his skin... everything. But for now this was all things he would deal with later. Now it was time to deal with creatures before him. With w=quick movement Helnex lept forward to start cutting through the spider, easily cutting through legs and bodies like butter with his sword.

"-and that's why oranges are superior!"

If one wondered how far the pair had argued, their conversations had at one point derailed to whether orange or peach is the better fruit. Their banter was only stopped by the intervention of a crowned humanoid knight and her more monstrous companion. Their words caused the pair to stare at each other.

"It's a meta setting."
"It's regretful to see such strong individuals using nonsensical words my Miss occasionally uses."
"Harvest has no sense of immersion at all."
I am inclined to agree with you, Miss.
"Oh, now you have telepathy?! Since when!"

Since I have become your guardian, Miss.
"Whatever! You two, no harm, capiche, but I can't really trust anyone from Harvest. It's the Harvest."

Alishia went right to the point. Several times members of Tall Tree had been PK'ed by the Harvest. She also had a close call during one of her expedition to gain her elite class, Synthesizer. Basically, the guild was notorious. Enough that even members who only played for a few months knew them. Who knew how their NPCs are actually are? In the current situation, she'd rather not trust anyone from the stabby-stabby guild, thank you.

The previous knowledge was also why she chose to approach Mr Sink; she didn't personally know him, but his figure was one that was familiar; The Deep Sea Trading Company was one whose stories she often heard from the more seafaring roleplayers in Tall Tree guild. At the very least, they didn't have a reputation of being a PK Guild.

The screech of the spiders cut their conversations short. While Alishia started screaming about 'Kill them with fire!' Acles simply punched any spiders that got close enough to the pair. The spiders were weak. One punch was enough to kill them. But Alishia was still screaming.

"If you really want to kill them with fire, Miss, you're the spellcaster here."
"You KNOW my attack isn't that- oh right these are weaklings. [Library]. [Elemental Grimoire]. [Chain Fire Bolt]."

The first chant opened a list of names in front of her eyes. A five coloured spellbook appeared between her chest and Acles' back. With the spell cast, a streak of fire streaked toward a spider. The spider was pierced right through, yet the bolt did not stop. It spread from spider to spider, killing groups of spiders too closely located from each other. Acles' eyes turned blue for a brief moment as he activated [Area Scan]. He pursed his lips, turning to the others.

"This land spans beyond 500 meters. [Fly]."

Alishia hugged Acles' neck tightly. The pair flew up to the air, as high as they possibly could to see the lay of lands. Once at a sufficient height, Acles activated his [Superior Area Scan] to turn everything in his sight into an adaptive map in his database, essentially turning the originally unknown area into a terrain minimap in his head. Meanwhile, Alishia kept her guard against anything that might attack them midair, prepared to cast any elemental spells in time of danger.

Dolce and Rosa

"You two are so in sync!" Was Rosa's energetic reply to the happy couple's constant banter.

Pretty funny for a couple of maggots. She thought as she watched them fly high in the sky.

Meanwhile, Dolce was disappointed that she could not form a friendly relationship with them, and why? Because of Harvest's reputation as a PK guild? That is what Dolce gathered at least. She did not understand the reasoning, but from her own experiences with the Great Lords of Harvest, these beings simply had a way of thinking that was beyond her comprehension sometimes.

Was she not interested in the spiders around? It was true, but the more important thing was that... spiders wouldn't attack either her or the oni girl. Rosa had a strong intimidation passive that instilled fear in anything lvl 50 and bellow, while Dolce's passive intimidation was even higher, striking fear in anything bellow 70 even without her Absolute Fear Aura. In other words, the spiders were closeby, but were too afraid to attack either of them. As soon as both started to move towards the others of the ragtag group, that decided to kill the spiders in their own way, the spiders just got out of their way as they did so. One ot them (Mr. Sunk) suggested they dealt with them quickly. Dolce simply nodded in response. As long as the people in the group stayed near her or Rosa, the low-level spiders wouldn't attack anyway.

I wonder if that bone structure is the source. Dolce pondered. She wanted to check something. "Rosa, strike that grotesque tower for me." She mentally commanded Rosa, as she pointed towards the Bonespire. The oni grinned.

"As you wish, my queen." Suddenly a giant red arm appeared behind Rosa. A colossal glowing energy crimson spear materialised within its hand, with golden sparks dancing around it.

[Gungnir: Spear of the Gods], a tenth tier arcane spell. Dealt copious amounts of single target arcane and piercing damage. It could also pierce barriers. On the other hand, since the oni was not in rage mode, it would not be as powerful as usual. Rosa threw it towards the middle of the bonespire.

Their movements slowly sped up as time went on, the benefit to having so many copies of your mind running all at once was the repetition really did help get used to things, well once you got used the whole hive mind thing in general. Speaking of Hive minds that did appear to be how these spiders around them were functioning so a few leg twitches and an imperceptible scent did have the creatures think twice about approaching her. This did give them time to start to pry in further to the disorientated minds to attempt and track down the center or queen, the easiest way to disrupt them in general but the added stress of the fear just made getting inside the minds that much easier given their now compromised state.

Stranger and stranger, the situation had simply been pushed to so crazy just roll with it in Something's minds, sure she could take some time to sit down and fully process it with full attention but as long as she keeps going that is a task for a later time, for now, she would just keep dancing along. Turning their head to Billions for a moment as they address them their first response is merely a shrug and a smile before responding.

"I suppose we could but really that just seems like gratuitous bullying, besides there are far more efficient methods of handling this situation other than slapping them, Taking advantage of there biology, Having a chat with the lady in charge, or just keeping calm and carrying on to mention a few. But hey go nuts and have fun, wouldn't want to put a damper on your little party would I?" a flashing of their eyes seems to imply they are currently aware of far more than they are saying but then again given Somethings reputation it could all be an elaborate ruse for some other purpose.

In either case, they began to waltz forward casually with a direction in mind unbothered by the spiders giving them a wider birth "Oh and Helnex if you think everything is not a commodity, you really have not been paying attention" a youthful laugher escaping her lips "Well that or been a bit too long in wonderlands, its why some have such a vast collection of them, be it a collection of first pets and mothers maidens names or so much more" another flash of knowing in her eyes before spinning and raising a finger as if making a point "now attachment, value, and meaning of each commodity are different but if you there isn't a salaried position somewhere to weigh all those to maximize consumption and gain then i might try and snag a copy of those rose-tinted glasses." clapping their hands quickly they try and change the topic back to the subject at hand "Now we could solve one problem with another but that requires tact and few here do know how to speak the right tongue to spin a proper web and make some connections. I would recommend that in general, even if people are not up for being friends than associates with a common goal does just as well no?"

Several seconds later she does turn her attention to Acles and Alishia however as they gather information themselves, useful regardless but it was pointless playing that part of her hand too soon but her eyes themselves were now tracking the launched spear projectile.

They were certainly in the presence of a few characters and some of which lived up to their reputations, especially the group from the well known roleplaying guild. Zetian stayed near his fellow guildmate as he examined those around them, taking stock of what they wore and what levels they possessed. Oddities aside they were definitely a capable bunch to say the least. When insect-like noises drew near and finally revealed the source to be large spiders, there was very little surprise on Zetian’s face. He had in the past experimented on arachnids for npc usage, so this was somewhat like deja vu of his harvesting days.

When they made their first attack he was relieved that the creatures did not target him. The last thing he wanted was to test this world’s sensory mechanics with bugs. “Nice catch Princess.” Zetian watched as the spider was used as a test subject for Sunk’s abilities and needless to say he was pleased to see the results. Many of their skills and abilities still seemed to function as they did prior to whatever mishap landed them here.

“Dealing with these would be a simple task so I agree, we should plan to…” The sudden surge of power in the area drew Zetian’s attention towards a spear of unreasonable energy. He analyzed it and quickly recognized the spell as tenth tier. Slowly his eyes followed the spear’s aim and trajectory and his expression became somewhat soured. This person planned to cast that spear at the nearby tower which was a dungeon with its own foes. With little regard for anyone else’s thought or opinions she hurled the spear and Zetian’s eyes trailed along, watching things unfold in slow motion.

“I would like to propose we split from this group as some of them may be more trouble than they are worth.” Zetian whispered to Sunk. Of course they could all handle whatever came next, but that didn’t mean any of them wanted or should have to. They still had to figure out what had happened to them and what to do next.

"Now we could solve one problem with another but that requires tact and few here do know how to speak the right tongue to spin a proper web and make some connections. I would recommend that in general, even if people are not up for being friends than associates with a common goal does just as well no?"
Really, it was absurd how few people knew how to properly prioritize tasks. If you had to choose between being pedantic and dealing with an immediate possible lethal situation the latter was a much higher priority.
"Less talking, more fighting, Something."

The spiders couldn't hurt Billions, but there was no way he was just going to let them swarm him. Getting the area clear of enemies would give him and the others time to think and figure out what was going on. And With his auras and speed ensuring that none of them got close to him he managed to clear enough of them away from him to activate one of his more powerful abilities.

At this point he'd ascertained that the spiders weren't a threat, so now he could use one of his mob-eliminating moves with the space he'd gained. Raising his sword above his head Billions made a proclamation:

"[Red Sun Over Paradise]."

This move combination was useless against players familiar with it, since it required a second to activate and despite being an AoE attack was easy to dodge if you knew it was coming. But against mobs or the inexperienced it could eliminate anything below 50th level.

A blazing ball of blood-red flame rose over the area, casting everything in shades of crimson. The Red Sun would expand the range of Billions's moves to the limits of the Red Sun's light. And right now all the visible spiders were in Billions's range.

"[Vacuum Cut]."
By itself Vacuum Cut was a move usually abandoned after level 35. With Billions's build and the Red Sun overhead it obliterated every spider in the area, slicing each of them in half and crushing the halves together with brutal force, leaving the group standing in the center of a massive bloody smear. A few drops of ichor from each spider flew together into a bloody stream, which flowed towards Billions before flooding into his body. Billions started laughing as the sensation sent a massive spike of pleasure through his brain. He stood completely still for a moment before turning to the rest of the group with a mad gleam in his eyes before shaking off the bloodlust and sheathing his sword.

"So now what?"
"What the fuck? Why?"
