PERSONALITY:
Cherry is one crazy spitfire. She's both smart and calculating, but she has a wild side that can really bring out the rashness in her. Her taste for adrenaline is nearly unmatched, as is her determination to take what she wants. She's usually all smiles, playful, kind, and sometimes even a little flirty with her men until they step out of line. She's the kind of twisted person who is happy in the middle of a war zone, but don't be fooled, Cherry can go from a well-mannered sweetheart to a raging bitch in a manner of seconds.
She doesn't scare easily, nor does she care much for mercy. She tries to avoid indulging in carnal behavior, though to be honest that has never worked for her. Her weakness is her pride. Cherry can't stand to be humiliated or defeated, she's prone to one-up man ship when amongst equals. We won't even mention her penchant for theatrics.
Cherry leads from the front, never choosing to send her bandits into places she wouldn't go herself. Filled with blood and guts as her father would say, she tries to win fights through sheer willpower. A tiny girl, no one would dare call her short after meeting her personality. She's gotten used to bullshitting with the guys, and laughs at the idea that certain behaviors can be 'un-lady like'. When it comes to dealing out justice, her determinations are usually swift and her eyes never leave the firing squad.
Cherry is cool under pressure and always puts the group above herself. She hasn't cried since her father died, and she does her best not to show neither sadness nor fear in front of her troops.
HISTORY:
Once upon a time...
A man begs for his life from his knees. A small girl delivers a kick that sends him face down into the mud.
Believe it or not, her father used to be a policeman. Hell they weren't always bandits.
The man pushes himself off the ground and lunges at her with a knife procured from seemingly nowhere. It's futile as the crack of her revolver silences everything for a mile.
Where did that innocence go? Where did mercy go? What has she become?
A series of graves are dug for the man and his family, a passage is read from a holy book, and atop the freshly laid dirt the girl places a single red fruit.
Life is for the living.
Danielle Jessie Thorreson was born in Malbury, Sething to Frank and Maria Thorreson. Frank, a police officer in the town of Halboro and a former Central Republican soldier, worked constant overtime to provide for his family. It was nearly five generations since his family had come from Sveland, but a certain hardness of spirit still ran in their blood.
Danielle doesn't remember too much of what was before the apocalpyse. She was a little girl, preoccupied with dolls and boys. There was a time when she practiced junior gymnastics, and always endeavored to look pretty. She was maybe twelve when her father came home and taught her to use a gun. She never would have guessed it would come in handy, but around that time she started putting less effort into sports and more into competitive shooting.
When the virus hit, everything changed. Frank took his family and any who would follow in an attempt to reach a safe zone in Malbury. There though, they only found chaos and the undead. In desperate need of supplies after being attacked by a group of thugs, Frank's group fought back violently and took them for everything they owned. Frank's wife died during this fight, as well as his sense of humanity.
They travelled back to farm outside of Garter to establish their home base, but when the crops refused to grow, it wasn't like they had much of a choice. Darwinism took over and Frank turned to pillaging neighboring groups to feed his own as both food and commodities became scarce. They took in other former soldiers. They took in a biker gang. They took in woodsman, criminals, and anyone else who could make them stronger. He and the thugs his group began to attract became known throughout the southern part of the province as 'Malbury's Marauders' .
Frank continued to teach Danielle to defend herself, if only because he knew the lecherous comments some of his men were making to her. He made her hard, and he created a list of laws. With no son, she became his right hand as well as the fastest draw in the group.
1. No purposeful killing or injuring unarmed women and children.
2. No purposeful injuring, killing, or stealing from fellow Marauders.
3. No taking prisoners back to the compound.
4. No killing or injuring those who surrender without a fight.
5. Women and children eat first.
6. No lights on in camp after dark.
7. All food, ammo, weapons, and building supplies captured by a group member belong to the group.
8. Never betray the group. Never lie to a fellow Marauder.
9. The group leader is the only person allowed to make or change the law, and the group leader will decide sentencing and hear all matters of civil dispute. Do not disobey him.
10. Any marauder found to be infected will be given the choice of killing himself or having someone else do it for him. Any other infected will be killed on sight.
Danielle was groomed to take over from the beginning, even if she wasn't nearly as respected as her father. The men began calling her 'Cherry' because she was a virgin, and the name stuck even after she wasn't...mostly because 'Blondie' was already taken and 'Shawty' just didn't have the same ring. It took her proving her medal by going on runs with the 'bottom' bandits for her to truly earn their respect. By the time her father was murdered, she was one of the crew.
When Frank was gunned down by another marauder, his killer was made an example out of, but there wasn't a consenus on who should be the next leader. The head of the bandits responsible for making runs and the head of the bandits responsible for administering the compound were locked in argument, each man declaring it should be him. Knives were drawn and blood let as there war of words turned violent.
Cherry strolled into the room with her gun in one hand and a bottle of wine in the other. She shot them both. Casually stepping over the bodies, she sat down in the seat that used to be occupied by her father.
"Well...clean it up..."
She made it clear she was in charge, and nobody was going to get away with breaking rule number two.
