Outlaw X Farmer's Daughter

Binnie Ryman

Long may she reign
Lydia woke up bright and early and walked straight to the barn. She began milking the cows and collecting eggs for breakfast.

Murphy walked along side of a dusty path, hidden in the shadows that the tall trees casted. He needed food and housing. No, he needed money. Money was what he was lacking currently which, sadly, has decreased his storage of edible substances and roofs over his head. It was around five in the morning which is often much to early for him, but here he is. 'Bright an early...' He thought, shrugging. He didn't notice that the trees stopped and he was walking on the path. A farm was visible from where he stood which made him smile. 'I could steal the chickens and cows to sell.. Maybe even take some of the crops for food. Perfect!' He thought happily, looking around to see if there was anybody. The only thing he saw moving was a young lady. 'Hm.. Interesting. A young lady taking care of a farm by herself?' He thought, then smirking. 'Ransom seems like fun. I haven't tried that yet.' Murphy then crouched down, moving closer to the shadows and trying to get closer to the lady without her noticing him.

Lydia thought she heard something, yet brushed it off as just the wind. She continued milking the cow, hoping the milk would help, even in the slightest bit, to restore her father to health. She finished milking the cow and put the pale of milk to side and went to grab the basket for the eggs. She began collecting them. Once she had finished, she began picked up the pale of milk and began walking out of the barn, completely oblivious she was being watched.

Murphy continued to watch the oblivious girl continue on with what she had been doing. 'Hm.' He thought, standing completely out of no where and walking onto the girl's land, looking as confident as ever and walking right next to her, pretending that it was normal and that he knew the lady... Even though he had no clue who this woman was.

Lydia jumped slightly when she saw Murphy next to her. "H-hello, s-sir," Lydia stuttered nervously. "C-can I help you with something?"

Murphy looked at her and took note of her stuttering. "Yes, do you have money?" He asks. This wasn't abnormal or him. He was a strange being that seemed to not know anything about robbing somebody. In fact, he just seemed like he's begging at this point.

"N-no, sir," said Lydia, her eyes wide. "I, I just paid my rent yesterday, I don't have any money yet. I, I'm sorry, sir."

Murphy nodded, taking a few glances at her. He felt as if she was lying but the clothes she was wearing told otherwise. "I see. What a shame." He said, continuing to walk with her, looking around. "Nice place out here." He complimented, looking at the house the most.

Murphy raised an eyebrow slightly. She couldn't see, since he was completely covered from head to toe. "Would you now?" He asks, intrigued by her earnestness. "Well, you do have something that would help." He said, continuing to look forward. He was playing it cool. If he was being himself, he would've already swep her off her feet and take her, but he was being different currently. He didn't want to blow his chance.

"W-what do you need?" Lydia asked nervously. She had no problem helping people out, she actually enjoyed it. But there was something about this man that unsettled her.

He over-dramatically looked at her, stopping where he was and said, "You." The girl could probably hear him stiffling the laughs that came from behind his mask. It was to much seriousness for him to endure. He started to burst out laughing, doubling over and not visibly cry.

Lydia looked frightened and confused. She didn't understand why this man was laughing an why he said he wanted her.

Murphy finally stopped laughing and stood straight again, then looked over at her. "But no, seriously. You can either do this the hard way or the easy way and even I would preffer the easy way." He said, tilting his head to the side slightly.

"Oh, sorry for the misunderstanding but I'm kidnapping you. Would it be considered kidnap? Hm.. How old are you, again?" He asks her, honestly curious. He didn't seem to think this was unusual or scary in anyway. Then again, he isn't the one getting kidnapped.

His eyes widened a bit at the whimpering. "Yup, kidnap. Also, don't worry. It's only for ransom." He said, shrugging it off and grabbing her arm softly, to not hurt her. He pulled her along towards the house. "You can't work on this famr all alone so I'll leave a note for the person who helps you... Maybe something on the lines of- I've got your daughter and if I don't have.....a hundred dollars in.... three weeks, you won't see her again. not that I'd hurt you- ust as a threat." Murphy said, nodding at what he had just accomplished.

Murphy sighed, "It's not like I can let you go. You know who I am and where I've been. You can call for the sheriffs which would not end well for either me or you. I can't take him with me either." He said, shrugging. "I can let you say your godbyes but say I'm a new friend." He said, being more generous than he usually is with ladies.

"My apologize missy," Murphy said, shrugging, "What's done is done and I can't trust anyone I just met." He continued towards the house. "Do you, by chance, have any rope with you?" He asked. He wasn't prepared to kidnap anybody.

Lydia shook her herad. "N-no, sir," said Lydia, knowing full well that there was probably rope in the barn.

"Hm." Murphy said, "Guess I'll have to carry a woman over my shoulder..." He said, turning around and attempting to pick her up with a firm grasp.

"N-n-no, sir," said Lydia. "P-p-please, I, I lied, sir. There's probably some rope in the barn."
