The Incident at Mount Massive Asylum and the subsequent release of information by a vengeful Waylon Park forced the Murkoff Corporation to round up all assets that hadn't been destroyed and take their research into hiding.
They set up a new asylum deep in Nebraskan wilderness, naming it Rumerson Asylum and funding it under false sponsorships.

Inside their Nano research continues, forcing old and new patients alike to go through the Morphogenic program, slowly rotting away their very souls to create a suitable host for Project Walrider.
But of course, history loves to repeat itself doesn't it?
The New Walrider let loose several high risk variants that immediately crippled security and various others to escape their confinement as well.
Murkoff, desperate not to let more of their problems go public, instead severed off all ways in or out of the facility and waited with baited breath and assault teams ready for the variants to kill each other off.
Too bad they didn't count for the several reporters who may have snuck in, the ones who kept careful eyes on Murkoff's movements after hearing of how Waylon made the story of the century off them.
That leaves us with another Large, crumbling Asylum filled with deranged Variants, trapped reporters, and even Murkofff staff members who had been trapped inside along with them.
