Fandom Out of Soul Thread

Well, magic in this world is a bit undefined and hard to really get a handle on, so I can understand the lack of wanting to police it. Luckily I think clowns are less magic and more just pure insanity with a better ability to wield the soul than others, but I will leave that up to the GM. If that doesn't pull, then I have a back up.

I ain't a civil engineer or anything but imma take a crack at what the lore is saying here.

The lore seems to imply they slipped a bomb in and dwma agents went searching but never found it in time. Evacuation pretty clearly points that outm If it went off in the center and did as much damage as i think it did, i generally expect that the academy would have def suffered some sort of damage but not as extreme as i originally thought. Not the monster i was thinking like a demolition derby or wrecking ball on a house.

I imagine you'd get some collapsed floors, or damaged structural supports on some of the lower levels, maybe even some blocked off areas but its definitely not going to be extreme to the point where the floor would literally collapse around people on say the 4th or 3rd floor.

Sure, some bruises, some cuts, maybe some minor injuries. I'm not expecting peeps to walk away without a spec of dust, even with magic (sorry that's just me). But if it killed anyone that would probably just be to being in the wrong place at the wrong tremor.

I doubt the upper floors would suffer anything more than shattered windows on every floor, ruptured pipe systems so definitely toilets doing their leak thing, and shook up classrooms with people and materials all over the place. Maybe even bits of rubble but a complete collapse doesn't seem guaranteed from what im assuming. The blast radius would def shake up the whole place and air pressure and wind speed would do all the rest from the shockwave so yeah I'm expecting places to collapse here or there but not an extreme.

The time should be enough for anyone to be able to get away from windows or anything of the sort and find a modicum of cover. Doesn't mean it won't still hurt cuz if the structure is being shook hard enough, stuff will fall and dwma's interior is like a maze with all sorts of decorations on its interiorm statues, paintings, plinths, pillsrs etc. Only thing I'm not expecting is a very bad collapse that would make everything 9x worse.

Else it would've been insane for the instructors to keep any personnel in the school at all, period.

In regards to the bomb and the damage that was left in its wake… just to contribute to conversation and help clarify things…

The DWMA was already evacuating before the bomb because the city had become a target for those infected with madness after the passing of Lord Death. So the evacuation that was in progress had absolutely nothing to do with the bomb at all.

The DWMA itself is no longer standing. The bomb managed to hit enough of the building’s structural supports that building could no longer support itself. A lot of the destruction to the city itself is not necessarily from the bomb, but rather from the collapse of the school.

It wasn’t the choice of the personnel to keep people at the school. While some instructors did learn of the bomb before it went off, it wasn't nearly enough time to fully complete the evacuation attempts that had already been ongoing for quite some time before the bomb was even a concern.

That’s, at least, my plan for how things panned out.

Hm, interesting. Evacuation I can get now that that is cleared up. As for the academy it sounds to me it must have rained on the city then to cause that kind of damage, if I'm picturing it right. If the bomb was in the center and it went off taking out every part of the academy's supports and the academy played a role in the city's damage then my guess is bomb was underground and the blast had an upwards effect.which sounds to me from your explanation, that affect caused the academy to more or less explode outwards, like a balloon filled to the point it explodes. Lady Warlock Lady Warlock

Now if that's what you are aiming for, an explosion like that would be great cuz it means the damage effect would be wide, given how big the academy is and how much it covers. The fact you can see the whole city from its staircase would be a good sign its area of effect is huge.

But, that means the cast is going to get caught in the blast of they are inside. My suggestions are this: either have the pcs react to the blast while moving away from dwma underground

OR

Have players react to the explosion as it happens and the academy is coming apart. Theres a good reason im suggesting this, it gives an opening scene to display a warning of the explosion happening that would give characters a chance to actually react to. Its better than reacting to the explosion after it happens, because then we have to all estimate the damage ourselves and i wouldnt really advise that since our view of the damage may differ from yours, the creator. Plus it makes it easier for all of the pcs to not only figure out the situation (which you can determine the level of damage in a follow up post) but also lets us vaguely position characters in areas nearby or not far from each other after the collapse. Then pcs can pick off from there and sort themselves out

Apparently this wasn't clear before. Canon characters do not exist with the exception of Lord Death and Eibon.
More likely someone just skimmed and didn't actually read it. That's probably not going away no matter how much ya tell people

Would we be starting in the direct aftermath of the collapse? Or will it be a few days after it? I was wondering as it could be interesting to have a small segment of the pc's trying to help find any survivors before having to do whatever they need to. The whole standing in the ashes of their accomplishments, the reality of everything coming to nothing dawning on them as they try in vain to find others.

Also, will there be a chance for those that don't have a partner due to the event of the explosion be able to find a new one or is it something that should be decided upon before the start? Or will you be accepting people and those that don't have a partner will have to learn to bond with who they have. As in the instance of my character she will not have a Meister at start if she happens to be accepted.

So, how goes the creating for others? I went with both sides, a meister and a weapon just in case the roster needs balancing in one or the other.

I am probably gonna go with Meister, but if I see a lot of people saying they'll also go Meister I will go with a Weapon for the sake of diversity.

Nice, I'm looking forward to seeing them. I'm leaning a lot more towards my meister character but if i need to i can always use my demon weapon. Looking forward to exploring them once things kick off. Decided to take a page from Justin law in the show and went with the whole concept of lord death having a religious group for one of my characters so that will be interesting to explore if i use that one
