Opening Scene
The sun had finally begun to set, dipping it's self gently into the water on the horizon, giving off just enough light to bathe the beach in a warm orange glow, as the stars far above began to peek out just as slowly. Anticipating the rising full moon, ready to join it's luminescence with their own.
The universe held its breath while waiting for the solar blaze to finish it's agonizingly paced extinguishment.
In the meantime, people buzzed around the dimming beach side, moving coolers and barbecue grills, tarps and tables. It was time for a party, the first chapter to a story already in started.
"Once again I can't thank you two enough for your charity. The town's been tight on budget for a while now, but with since we've had a few more wealthier home owners settling in, projections look good. Another thing I should thank you for, the hospitality you two have given to the town council has been more than we could every really repay" the Mayor said with sincere appreciation in her eyes as she gazed out towards the dying sunset. She finally got to relax a little, right in the middle of another campaign, and with a large fire less than five hundred miles away, things we're increasingly stressful for the woman.
"No need to thank us Heather, I grew up here too, and Chinmi just really enjoys financial mapping. "
"She's right about that. " Chinmi responded to Rin's comment "And besides, with Piyeone coming back to town, especially after everything she's been through, it was the least we could do for her birthday. Two birds, one stone and all that. The girl could use some friends, and what better way to get her acquainted. If anything we should be thanking you. " The short woman finished as she leaned gently on her wife.
"Either way, I couldn't have done all this without you two. Now if you lovebirds will excuse me, there's some things I should go look over. A mayor never sleeps, but I'll make time to catch some drinks later. " Heather smiled and waved as she walked off leaving the two Aunts alone together, both taking the moment to enjoy each other's embrace as they quietly watched the last bit of light retreat beneath the waves.
