Idea Otherworld: When Two Worlds Collide (OOC Plot Discussion )

We all know how it works. As children/ kids, we're told bedtime stories of fairytales, mythological beings, creatures of the night , demons or angels, androids, shifters, benders and much more. As adults we tend to forget, we tend to think it is just that, tales and nothing more. Stuff that only happens in books and movies.
We never notice the rifts in our world. We never notice the yellow ripples in the air around us and unfortunately, some of them are starting to tear at the seams and a few have opened around to where someone, or something, could simply go through. They're only wide enough for one person to slip through at a time and small enough that if you pass by it you could possibly see it out of your peripheral, that is, if you're not looking. People who look, never find it, and people who find it, never are the ones to be looking. Most people want to stay ignorant, so as the saying goes, 'ignorance is bliss'. But is being ignorant about this really blissful?
It has already begun, a small portion of each side is beginning to discover these thresholds and there are many different opinions on what to do about this. Although, humans still tend to lean towards the ignorant side on 'seeing is believing', the beings of the Otherworld already know of human existence and know that a glamour was built between the worlds many, many, years ago to separate human and non-human.
Now that the wall seems to be coming apart, something that had been buried in the past has arisen/ awoken in certain lives and they have to come together in order to restore balance in the rightful places. Will they have the courage, knowledge and will to do what needs to be done to bring everything and everyone at peace or will it fall apart again, putting them back millenniums once more?

Alright, so I've already gotten some constructive criticism on how this lacks structure and plot. I understand I may have missed a few descriptions on what an awakened person was but other than that, I'm not too sure where I missed out on anything else. I was used to Jump in RP's and I know a lot of people aren't like that anymore but I was trying to be as simple as possible so it wouldn't be so confusing on what exactly was going on but I guess I still didn't do a good job. The RP itself has yet to start, I just posted the recruitment post today and I thought I did a decent enough job...guess that is not the case and if anyone is willing to discuss what I can do please let me know...

I think Ayama gave you some good advice in your Interest Check thread. Unlike a lot of people, I actually enjoy the kind of RP where everyone is responsible for the plot and there is nothing masterminded. However, you need to make this clear up front - as Ayama said, people expect group RPs to at least have a structure of some kind, if not a fully thought through plot skeleton. Try to at least give an overview of the factions people can join or viewpoints people can expect, and a more concrete idea of the lore of your RP. The concept is a good one, and I've seen it done many times in different ways. It should work! But you need to give a few more specific details.

I would advise you to stick to a small group size for this RP if it is sandboxy/non-GMed/freeform as otherwise chaos will ensue, and not in a good way. I would also recommend that you ask for full character sheets AND writing samples as well as a clear motivation and/or goal for their character. If you are expecting your players to carry the plot, you need to know that they are capable of it, as well as understanding what you expect from them.

There's no mystery. Right off the bat I know it's a save the world affair and that feels like something i wouldnt want to rp as unless I specifically wanted to save the world. If I ended up in that position through rping, I may care a bit more since I was invested. However giving away too much was a detriment here.

Secod,, you should try to convey what the monsters are doing to the world with a bit more subtlety. The bermuda triangle is the perfect kind of rumor to kick off a spoopy event like this.

Oray orayt. so. for lore imma add some occult stuff or whatever .

so basically, these types of people worship the creatures of the rift(or the creatures that come from the rift) and the classic satanic stuff. sometimes big time worshipers( like how i gonna make my character) can be granted special privileges, i.e magic, rituals, ynow, the usual, and these magic can only be used through the mouthpieces of artifacts which is gonna be her main hand.

She in particular, for once, takes a walks in the woods(btw what town are we in?????) and sees an unusual anomaly located far in the hearts of the woods. a rift. She sees a creature emerge from the depths and runs for dear life. after, that however, she could never sleep at night. she kept thinking of the horror shed saw, but in the bottom of her soul, she was awe stricken. \

Ok ok so for the cult stuff.

Their magic is potentially available to all cult members but only a number are able to use it, particularly the preachers. They must go through an extremely painful ordeal to get a devil's tongue which allows them to instantly learn the indecipherable context of the incantations. They can also allow a user to speak to others that may sound like gibberish to the rest which is how they preach to the weak and needy only without inciting agitation.

Also magic for them is only available through Artifacts which are crafted from the materials of the other world. You will always need at least one of them to cast a spell unless of course you etch it into your being which only the hard core fans do. Why?

Not only is it painful, you also sew a part of the beasts soul from the material you crafted the Artifact with, causing major bipolar and oft insanity.
