The Sad Reality
Characters: Sheets and Roster
When creating a character, keep in mind that the starting atmosphere of this roleplay is essentially a Dragon Ball fandom. Characters are meant to be creative and diverse, not necessarily immediately powerful. This is the point where characters like Yamcha and Krillin are actually useful, and unlike Dragon Ball, I don't intend for them to fall off and become completely secondary to a Saiyan counterpart. Do keep in mind, however, that it is technically possible for Saiyan(s) and/or Namekians to be on Earth. Options are open, but the power level between races won't be nearly as vast as it was previously. While I'm looking for casual players, I'm also looking for interesting characters to expand on a plot.
Ten Tips to Impress Me
#1 Innovate In regards to creativity, I love innovation. Reinventing an old idea or concept to make it new again is something I respect highly. Benefits of it can be retaining what connected it to the world to begin with.
#2 Utility over Power I like to see techniques and abilities with an actual function, not just a raw display of power. Trade-offs and resourcefulness are some of my favorite quirks about abilities, and can help make them unique.
#3 Motivation I want to see a character with motivation. A flare in their personality that drives them. Often times, more than just the desire to be the strongest or prove something. Or, an explanation of that desire or an answer as to why they feel that need.
#4 Borderline-Detailed While posts need only be a paragraph long minimum as well as the other prerequisites of Casual as per RPNation guidelines, going all out with a character sheet is a great way to grab my attention.
#5 Tie-Ins with DB(Z)/YYH This one is tricky, as I want tie-ins to reflect the world as we saw it portrayed. But, successful tie-ins will be one of the most influential and deciding factors in making me love a character.
#6 Original Inspired Content This one is also tricky, but if you can create content that is relatively new or maybe adapted from another setting and format it to fit into this world so well it is seamless, you might even impress me more than with a regular tie in.
#7 Backstories and Masters Something I will hopefully see are people who focus on their backstories and more over the training within them. I'm not necessarily looking for natural prodigies, but if that's your fancy, so be it. Still, having trained with a master can help you with tip 5 and/or 6, and make a back story exactly what I was looking for.
#8 Dark Tones I heavily prefer dark tones over comedy. Tragic histories, terrible plotlines, horrific events, so on and so forth. This will become apparent more so later with spirits. The atmosphere won't be as lighthearted as Dragon Ball was at times (though I know it was dark at times, too), and if you can reflect that, then you'll earn some points from me.
#9 Pre-existing Character Relations Got a friend that might be interested? Make a duo. Really. Do it. Tien/Chiaotzu, Goku/Krillin, so on and so forth. With this one, you can hit tips 9, 7, 5/6 all in one very easily, and become something I'll value highly right off the bat.
#10 Fuck Your Tips - I'll Blow Your Mind Without Them Do it. I challenge you to do it. If you can ignore my tips or better yet if you intend on creating solely what you want anyway and it's not precisely what I'm looking for, yet you still impress me and convince me you can fit in the setting, then do it. I created these tips to make it easier for people. This is somewhat what I'm looking for or more precisely hoping for. If you want a challenge, try it.
