A Map Of Ostyae
The Purple Kingdom Of Envy
Race: Vampire
Traits
- Ancient race - Among the oldest of the races. Have knowledge of the worlds history far beyond what anyone remembers.
- Deep Loyalty - The subjects will give their life before betraying the Oldest Ones.
- Apex Predator - The vampires feature enhanced physique. Alongside enhanced speed, strength and endurance the vampire race also have heightened senses. Their strengthened eyes and ears greatly increases their general perception. Their enhanced sense of taste and smell means the vampires powerful enough only dine on the finest of quality. The difference between a fresh cadaver or the corpse of yesterday can be enough to make royals squirm in anger. This can turn even worse, nearly paralyzing the vampire if the smell is awful. The sensation of feeling is also enhanced, often noticeable during fighting. If the vampire have just feasted a mere bruise can feel like a broken bone, often resulting in a more delicate lifestyle for vampires with access to high-quality food.
- The Scarlet Boon - Not only is blood their source of life, it also boosts the vampiric traits for a while after consumption. Deteriorates depending on use, much like energy would be burnt up when humans are active / in-active. Vampires can live with only consuming a small amount of blood every week, though this leaves them only a shell of their actual potential. Not only does it weaken them, it's also frowned upon by the pure-blooded vampires, an impure way of living.
- The Scarlet Curse - While blood is an essential part of the vampire life, it can also be the downfall of any vampire. The sole consumption of blood over an extended time period will leave the vampires body mutating. Blood dripping from orifices, leaking into his lung or bladder are the first signs. From here the outcome can be, but not limited to; Paranoia, Insanity, memory loss, irregular muscle-growth, physical mutations, loss of senses. To avoid these symptoms bread are often used as a regulator, ensuring that the vampire won't fall ill.
- Sunlight-Sensitivity - The sunlight highly drain on the energy given by blood, capable of leaving vampires highly weakened by the time of nightfall. It isn't unheard of vampires starving to death if they are ill-prepared for a journey. Because of this many vampire towns feature a large amount of thickly-woven cover, strapped between buildings to provide as much shade as possible.
Hierarchy:
Opposed to man, a vampire's worth is decided by his blood.
When using 'generations' for vampires it refers to how many generations in a row of pure-blooded vampires there have been. A fifteenth generation vampire would then mean a vampire with 15 generations of pure blood in it's veins. If a half-breed is born the heritage is broken, meaning that for the family to carry on it's lineage there will have to be born another baby, but this time by two pure-blooded vampires. (Note: Because vampires live longer than humans, a vampire-generation isn't the same as a human-generation)
The purer the blood, the more enhanced the vampiric traits will be. It doesn't increase in a linear fashion, yet there is a clear difference between a half-breed and vampires of the twentieth generation. From twentieth and upwards the difference in the vampiric traits becomes less noticeable.
In the vampiric society there are many steps, each class of vampire fitting onto a designated spot determined by their blood.
<The Oldest Ones> The oldest line of pure-blooded vampires in the kingdom. They equal the king and his family from the human kingdom. Rules from the palace, the finest and most secure structure in the Purple Kingdom. Their words receive great respect, praised and admired by any vampire with the slightest respect for their race.
The Oldest Ones can assign Royalty important tasks directly which is often considered a great honour.
Yet they can't alter their Kingdom, in a major fashion, without the majority of the Royalty agreeing with the changes.
<Royalty> Vampires of the fiftieth generation or older. Have few rules limiting their way of living, answering only to 'The Oldest Ones'. Each Royal family provides a guard to The Oldest Ones. It's a sign of respect, devotion and loyalty. Yet it also serves as a hostage should it be needed to calm a situation down.
Each Royal family is assigned a piece of land for them to governor and work. They each have chosen a member to represent the families will in meetings with The Oldest ones. The family get's a housing of their choice in the land they are assigned too alongside other bonuses.
<The Ascended> Title given to vampires of the twentieth generation. Their vampiric traits have been increased substantially trough generations of pure blood, now allowed to serve in finer ways. Librarians, knowledge seekers, Royalty Guards, Vanguard in the Royal army etc. By now allowed to have more than two children each generation.
Special assignment and requests can be given to them by the Royalty. This can involve protection, assassination, infiltration, raiding and just about anything else the Royalty might think necessary.
<The Flock> Title given to vampires of a young generation. Can be used to discriminate or insult, as it's a term shared between impure vampires and races used for food.
The Flock deals with mundane work assigned to them by The Ascended, involving variation of task's often seen in less elegant societies. Cleaning, logging, farming, slavery, masonry, cattle-catching and other duties an Ascended shouldn't have to deal with.
(In vampire society cattle often refers to humans or other races easily hunted for food.)
Locations:
- Varisvaara - The capital of the vampire kingdom, a town buried deep in the mountains of the east. Only the purest of blood are allowed to live here, the constant isolation of sunlight what attracts so much royalty. Only merchants with the finest of wares are allowed in, not guaranteed to leave if the pure-blooded find the wares unimpressive. Because of the location of Varisvaara, the capitol in it-self is a huge strain for the Purple economy. Every cattle need to be imported, no production of goods for the general population and with little-to-no trade Varisvaara is only occupied because of the cultural impact. To bring down heaven and have the purest live there is a major part in the control of the impure, showing that morale behavior will lead to an ascended lifestyle.
- Hallow-west Hill - A city located to the north-west of the Purple Kingdom, nearly reaching the border to the Green Kingdom. What was once used as a garrison during war quickly turned into one of the largest trade-towns ever to have existed. Be it ships from the Blue and Pink kingdom, or travelling merchants wandering all the way from the Yellow Kingdom, Hallow-west have about every ware and race walking this earth. It's such an important source of income for the Purple Kingdom that there are multiple garrisons of Ascended guards, controlled by the Royalty owning business in the town. While the Royalty doesn't decide what is being traded, they do tax each vendor earning a hefty sum of each deal. Besides a few fine establishments the city is by all means a slum, cultural tension always high. Fighting isn't unusual and many murders goes unresolved. Kidnapping happens frequently, drunkards being taken from dark alleys by cattle-catchers.
The Red Kingdom Of Envy

2.) Ebon Sun
3.) Savage Hand

5.) Eternal Smog
6.) Cruel Scar
-Currently, the Eternal Smog is at war with the Cimedach Empire, refusing to acknowledge Mordahl's rule.
-Ebon Sun and Cruel Scar have recently resumed their age-old aggressions after a short, tense, and unsuccessful treaty. However, both are loyal to the Empire.
-Twin Giant claims to be loyal to the Empire, but continues to trade with the Eternal Smog.
-All other tribes acknowledge Emperor Mordahl's rule.
The Red Nation was once a Republic, ran by elected officials from the various tribes throughout the continent. But after Mordahl Cimedach challenged and defeated the powerful and well-decorated Executive Balthaasad, he dissolved the Republic and named himself Emperor. While some tribes refuse to recognize his rule, he is currently considered to be the supreme ruler of his race.

The Green Kingdom Of Greed
Race: Elves
The elves are one of the oldest races in Ostyae. They've been around since- well- who really knows. Not even they do. Many books suggest thousands upon thousands of years, but not the most ancient of books can explain where they came from. Many elves in the west are somewhat religious with their beliefs, following a Goddess called Akina who is believed to give them their cunning and agility. Southeastern elves prefer a more scientific outlook though, believing that they evolved from the offspring of a human and a vampire.
The elves of Sinifact are typically lengthy, pale beings. Light hair is very common, ranging from whites to pale caramel colors. An elf with black hair is an elf that is most likely not a purebred one. The same goes for exceedingly dark skin tones. Most elves take on a very pale appearance in all aspects, or at least lightly shaded with tan skin and sandy hair. Though the elven color pallet is predictable, the folk are very unique with facial and body physique. Angled features are most popular, paired with lengthy builds and tall heights. The shortest elves are those who are chosen to serve in the military as archers.
Archers double up as spies, due to the fact that they reside in trees. The Euphoria trees of Sinifact are common, beautiful, and everywhere. It is very easy for archers to hide in such trees and go unnoticed, though most who pass through can't help the eerie feeling of being watched. Nor can they escape the thin cascade of arrows that would bombard them if they made a wrong move. Especially if they weren't armored.
Euphoria Trees
Other members of the elven military are usually chosen at birth. Those chosen begin training at a young age, but aren't put into the ranks until they age 25,which is relatively young when you'll live an average of 10,000+ years.
Like many besides humans, elves age excruciatingly slowly. An elf that is 400 years old probably looks about 20 in reality. It isn't until an elf is around 1000 years old that they start to look a bit older. It's a pretty sweet deal, until you're an elder. Once you get to 7,500-9,000 years old... It kinda hits you all at once. Literally, you'll wake up one day looking like a white raisin.
The elven royal family currently consists of only three members. The previous King and Queen, Xandra and Araak Sylvis, and their daughter Kaenirin who is currently the Queen. She has been ruling for merely eighty years as of yet, which is minuscule compared to her parents 4,000 year reign and her grandparents previous 6,000.
