Fantasy Original Species

Joe stopped, panting as he transformed, pulling the robe she threw at him on and moving over, standing next to her lying figure awkwardly, not sure what she expected him to do, nor how he was expected to behave. The wind was cool here and brushed the parts of his skin that was bare

"You can lay down if you want to.... or sit. But you should know that your robe isn't covering anything from this position," she said simply, trying not to look as she blushed bright red. She hoped it wasn't visible in the little light there was, but knew that it shouldn't matter either way.

He blushed a deep crimson "I'm sorry...I'm not used to people." He sat himself down on the grass next to her, his legs crossed like he'd been taught when he wanted to seek calmness "I've lived a very reclusive life...other supernaturals are odd to me"

"Sounds lonely," Alicia said softly, closing her eyes as a gust of wind blew past. "Have you ever shifted into a bird?" she asked out of the blue, opening her eyes too look up at the sky. It had been something she had always wanted to do but she'd never gotten around to doing it. Either out of fear that she would fail, or not wanting to do it alone.

He looked down "I can only do wolf at the moment" he bit his lip, which drew a small amount of blood because of his sharpened teeth "the place where I trained says that a wolf suits me because I'm a loner and angry a lot of the time. She was wrong. I'm just sad"

"Well if you join the pack we can work on that. It's so much fun shifting into different animals," she said smiling as she looked over at him. Her blonde hair was fanned out around her face and she felt truly relaxed out in the wilderness.

He gulped looking down at the ground as she looked at him. "I can't join the pack...if they found out who I was then I'd be killed sooner rather than later"

"And just who are you?" she asked. "Because all I see is a kind halfling shifter who has been alone far too long."

"I have different names across the country" he looked down "Some call me the Scourge in the shadows" he started to fidget with his hands "I don't really feel comfortable talking about this...it doesn't reflect who I am"

"Never heard of you," she said, turning her gaze back to the stars. "And besides, I already know who you are. Or at least I know enough to make my own judgements and there is no way that anything you say will push me away. "

"You won't push me away? You want to be my....my friend?" He whispers, edging slightly close to her "as in you'll run with me more?"

"Sure," she said smiling gently. "But we can't leave the state of Louisiana," she said frowning slightly. "I'm still bound to Kiara. But I'd like to be your friend."

"You want me to stay here with you?" He bites his lip "you're sure that Kiara will protect me from my mother and her pack?"

"How old is your mother?" she asked curiously. Not because it had any impact on her decision, but because it seemed like a question she should ask. "But yes I want you to stay here, and as for protection you only have to ask for it."

"Thank you" he lied down next to her "you're the only friend I've ever had....I'm so old...." He placed his hand on hers nervously

Alicia held his hand gently. "Well you wont be the only one. You just have to learn to let people in. Kiara is older than you I think.... and she manages just fine," she said softly. "When you join the pack I have no doubt that you'll make friends. You could even get a mate and have little halfling babies," she teased softly with a giggle.

"I doubt it" he sighed "I'm not very appealing....and I have no experience around neither people or women" he gently stroked her fingers in his hand without knowing

"You're doing fine around me," she said with a smile, turning her head to look at him. "All you have to do is relax and just be yourself."

He looked at her, his eyes less sad and more hopeful "you like me?" He whispered, but still loud enough for her so she could answer

"Of course I do," she said with mild amusement. "We're out in the middle of the woods, alone and I'm wearing nothing but a robe. Either I like you or I'm borderline suicidal," she said with a soft laugh. "Personally I think I'm edging towards liking you."

"I think they could be classed as the same thing" he held her hand in front of him "I think I'm edging towards liking you too"

"Well it's better than suicidal," she teased, running her thumb over his skin gently. "So you'll stay?" she asked hopefully, looking into his eyes.

Sucked on his bottom lip "I'll stay if you do something for me..." He looked at her "It's been a long time since I've ever spent time with another human...let alone a girl"

"What do you need me to do?" she asked, eager to get him to stay. She didn't know what it was about him but she felt like he needed to stay.

He bit his lip "you're already a better friend than anyone I've ever had..." He took her arms and pulled her hand up to his mouth and kissed it gently
