Fantasy Original Species

"Ah! This is Tomas, my alligator friend." The Alligator seemed to look at her and understand she wasn't a human.

The Alligator turned away and went back into the water. "Don't mind him" Robert said,"he is fairly shy..."

"So do you like it? I want sure but... It's nature... Man, I'm just awful at this." He looked at her and laughed lightly. "Sorry if this isn't what it's cracked up to be." He scratched the back of his head

Isabelle snorts as she looks at him. "Of course I like nature... I'm a fairy... We're connected to nature and need it to keep healthy..." She said while walking.

"Good point." He looked at her, "so now what?" He walked to the edge of the water and looked in. The area over the lake was clear and the moon lit up the opening.

He came up and looked at her, "well that's not very fair." He laughed a little, "care to join me? The waters nice." He headed for the edge where she was

He came out of they water, "if I hugged you, you'd be wet, then you could just... Jump in." He grinned and walked toward her

Robert smiled and took after her, his speed was faster than a humans, "but I can't fly so this might be a problem.." He laughed a littlelittle

From the dark alleys that lead to the streets where Kiara's bakery was situated, a silhouette appeared from within the shadows. Walking forward from the dark alley, his shoes clicked on the paved sidewalk, echoing it throughout the streets with ease. Walking under the street's light, he revealed himself to whoever was on the street. He was a tall man, probably around 6'1'' tall, but unclear. His face was shadowed because of the angle of the source of light coming from the street's light bulb. His eyes were glued towards the bakery.

Believing he lingered enough on the street, he began walking towards the bakery, crossing the street with ease, his shoes clicking on the ground. Once he reached the bakery, he stood in front of the street entrance for a moment, before lifting his fist up in the air, his torso forming wrinkles around the other side of his elbow and gently knocked on the door. He knocked once, he knocked twice, he knocked one more time, before returning his hand back to his pocket.

Kiara unlocked the door, surprised that anyone was knocking this late or rather she was surprised that anyone was knocking the door. As she opened it slowly, she could smell whoever it was was a vampire. And an older one at that. "How can I help you?" she said as her brown eyes scanned her figure. She was shorter than he, with long dark brown hair with blonde highlights thrown in, and as she looked up at him she found herself feeling guarded.

The door opened slowly, revealing a woman with long dark brown hair and a pair of brown eyes, which were scanning him from head to toe. He understood her reason to, scan him. He thought that not many knock at her door at this hour.

"I apologize to disturb you at this moment of the day, but as I believe, you already know who am I, or maybe I should correct myself. What am I. Coming during daylight will prove to be, a rather--annoyance for me. I hope you will understand." he said, with a soft and calm voice.

"Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Noer Eisenman and I have come with the hope that would help me with a very important matter, miss Ryland. Or-- may I address you as miss Arel?".

A small smile appeared on his face as he looked in her brown eyes.

Kiara smirked. "I haven't been called that in a very long time," she said as she stepped to one side. "Please do come in sir." She turned the lights on, and a soft golden light illuminated the room. "You are quite welcome to come during the day if you wish, we open before sunrise for vampire folk and we have UV resistant windows so you can stay during if you like," she said kindly, wondering exactly why he was here.

Noer narrowed his eyes at her as she opened the door for him and kindly invited him inside the bakery. He looked into her eyes and another small smile appeared on his face. Deciding to play along, he walked in, slowly, inside the building.

Once inside, he walked around the bakery, scanning the area carefully. "I must offer my congratulations. Your little bakery here is lovely." he said with a smile.

Turning to her, his smile quickly faded away. "But, I have not come here to admire the interior design of your bakery nor have a taste of your--products." he said. "And before we start, I would suggest we have a civilized conversation. Not a threat, if you believe so, more like, asking a favor. Perhaps from a client?"

"But now, to the reason of why I am here. Miss Arel, I have been tracking down the Originals for more than 254 years, so far, with no success--up until now. You, for instance, I've been trying to find for the past 100 years and now that I am here, I would like to get straight to the point. May I ask of you, to tell me what exactly happened when the Gods cursed the Originals families? The manner on how the Original families got cursed, if a chance to rethink the offer was ever made. Anything involving the curses would be much appreciated."

"You certainly don't waste any time do you?" she said, as sadness engulfed her. "Please take a seat," she said politely as she put a variety of cakes and cookies onto a plate simply to be kind. She sat in a tall backed chair and tucked her ankles under it, one behind the other. "Before I begin, you need to understand some things and I ask you not to judge us too harshly. I also ask that you not tell anyone who I am unless necessary. Only a handful are privy to the information I am about to give you." She looked at him carefully as her hands smoothed out her light grey skirt, before one being placed on top of the other. "You say that you have been looking for Originals for 254 years, which leads me to believe that you are less than one thousand years old. Am I correct in assuming this?"

Noer took her offer without much thinking. He sat down, but before he did so, he unbuttoned his black jacket. Once settled down, he returned his attention back to her as he put one leg over the other, followed by his palms to be positioned on one of his legs.

He listened to her question carefully, as well as her demand. "You have proven to be difficult to track down. However, I shall not reveal your location, as you have requested me." he assured her.

"And indeed, I was unfortunately turned into a vampire 643 years ago, during the 13th century." he answered her question.

Kiara nodded silently and relaxed back into her chair. "I was born a human exactly 3287 years ago. I was the sixth child, and only daughter of Matthew and Mary Arel. In fact I was the last child, but with five older brothers ahead of me you must know that I had no choice in the events to come. We lived in a village in what is now France with three other families. I bet you can guess who," she said as the corner of her lips twitched. "The Redicks, Desin's and Harts children were my closest friends growing up and it wasn't long before I was betrothed to one of the Redick's children. It was just how it was in those days. Fathers sold off their daughters in exchange for cattle and trinkets, or in my case a bride for my eldest brother, Marc. He married one of the younger Redick daughters, and after that my family became more favourable. My next brothers Jon and Demetri married Hart girls, both of them blonde and giggly. I can still remember how their laughter annoyed me. Eddard married a Desin, and then Benji a girl from a neighboring town. By this time I was fifteen and ready for my own wedding. In the grand scheme of things I should have been nervous but I wasn't. I knew what was expected of me and I saw it through. And I know I seem to be blathering on, but it was on the day of my wedding that a man and two women arrived. We invited them to join our festivities of course, out of politeness. But it was a mistake. The heads of the families began to approach the man, trying to convince him to marry the women to one of their sons but only my father held back. When the man laughed, they struck up a conversation and he told my father that he was a God in human form come to find a family to help him. My father told him that if he could help then he would and the man seemed pleased by this. And so the man told my father to gather his children and bring us to a cave on the outskirts of our village." Kiara paused and straightened her back with a sigh.

"And so gather we did. But we weren't alone. My brothers had told their wives, and I my husband as I was required to do and their families had joined them. They were all eager to see what this God in human form could do, but very few of them shared my fear. Simon Desin, a few of the Hart girls and my husband, Sebastian Redick were among the few. The man appeared to us and asked why the others had joined us, and that he only required one family. One family whom he would turn into Gods among men, but my father refused. He said that we did not wish to be Gods, we wished to help. And then everything changed. Everything turned black and cold. The sun turned red in the sky, barely giving off any light as the ground shook around us. It was then that we changed and became the four Original supernatural families. The man told us that demons would be coming. Creatures of intense darkness and horror that would slaughter women and children. Have you ever seen a demon?" she asked, breaking off from her story.

"You were Celts?" he asked, as he heard Kiara mentioning France. "This God--came to you in the form of a human? And he only offered this--gift, to call it like that at first. Demons would be coming." he said the last part, almost in a whisper. He spaced out as he began to think, carefully.

"I have seen a couple. Some tried to kill me immediately the moment they laid their eyes on me, without thinking nor hesitation." he said. "However, I have--spoken to a few. Because of them, I have found out about these curses on the Original families. But none offered an explanation nor hints. I had to find the answers on my own." he answered her question. He opened his mouth to speak more, but he closed it immediately, deciding to wait to hear the rest of the story.

"What I didn't know at the time was that there are a variety of demons. Some are complete idiots and will try and kill without hesitation, but others are more sneaky about how they kill. They lurk in the shadows and wait until you are most vulnerable. They most likely did not tell you of our curses details because they do not know. But this information has little to do with the question you asked," she said pausing for a moment and picking a cookie off of the plate. She popped a small bite size piece in her mouth and chewed, swallowing slowly.

"We had a few days between our changes and the demon arrival, enough time to practice fighting and learning to use our own powers. But I was confused. By that point, I was married to Sebastian Reddick and I should have been a witch. So I asked one of the women why it was that I had become a shifter. She told me that in the eyes of the Gods, blood was the most powerful weapon that one could possess. And as such, until I bore Sebastian's children I would not be considered a Reddick. So we trained, testing the limitations of everything. The Desins and the Arels became faster, stronger... they had better senses.... imagine your gifts without the restrictions. You wouldn't burn in sunlight, you wouldn't be allergic to vervain or gold. And my family, they could shift into any creature that they liked without pain. We weren't forced to shift, we could touch silver and ingest wolfsbane. The Harts and the Reddicks became almost one with nature. They weren't physically stronger but they could do things that were pure magic. They too didn't have any restrictions, and it was a beautiful thing. Then the demons came like a black wave of bats pouring over the village. And we fought them. They weren't expecting it. Their bites didn't have any affect on us the way it did on humans because of our blood. It was their goal to conquer our planet and harvest it's riches. But we destroyed their army and the others fled. Over the years small groups have tried to re-invade but they never quite manage it." She swallowed hard and wrapped her arm around her stomach.

"My mother, my eldest brother Marc and half a dozen others from our families died in the attack. To say my father was distraught was an understatement. He had fallen in love with her at the age of 14 and they'd been married for 30 years. He knew that their lives were coming to an end but he loved her still. When the Gods came to reclaim their gifts, my father was the first that they found. He refused to do as the Gods wished, saying that it was their fault that my mother had died, and my brothers were bound to follow their wishes. Out of grief, the other families fell in line with his wishes. All except the Reddick's. They too had lost family but they knew that they had done as the Gods wishes and offered their powers back. I was torn between my fathers wishes and my husbands, but it mattered not. They did not want part of the gift back, they wanted all of it. So they cursed our blood. The Reddicks were the only ones who got off lightly, as the witches remain mortal. They do not have to watch the world grow and expand into this alien thing as they wait for death. We did not know of the curse at first. It wasn't until the first full moon that I even considered that something might be different, when all my family shifted for the first time. The others grew fearful of our violent natures and lack of control during these nights and they even plotted to chain us up with ropes and silver chains. It was the Desin's that tried first, as they were as strong and fast as we were. It's what started the hatred between the vampires and the shifters. One that has never died I'm afraid. But do not worry, I mean you no harm. I am not one to judge based on species. They succeeded in chaining us up that night, and after our changes had faded, they left us there in the sun as the silver burnt our skin. Sebastian was the one to set me and my family free. We deemed that it wasn't safe for my family to stay in our village but I did. In my eyes I wasn't a Arel anymore, I was a Reddick. And I was pregnant with my first child. The other women looked at me with distaste because Immortals cannot have children unless it's with a Mortal. And although there were a few Reddick women, Sebastian was the only male. My son, Kristopher, was the first halfling in existence. Like me he was immortal, and he too was fast and strong but he could not shift. He was more like his father, and could perform beautiful magic. Life continued and eventually I had a daughter, Brooke, who again was like her brother. The Harts had since fled to another dimension, preferring what they had called 'Paradise' but they visited often. But still the Desin's chained me up each full moon. One evening, the Gods came to me as I was chained and forced me back into human form. They knew that the others would not come out of their houses where they hid, but they wanted to speak to me. They asked if I was ready to repent and hand over my gifts, and I asked them why my choice mattered. They told me that my father had died, killed himself shortly after he'd left. Jon had been killed in a hunting accident and Eddard by a wild boar. They told me that Benji and Demetri were returning and that if I could convince them then we could take the powers of our respective partners. Because Benji had had a daughter with his human wife, but she had died giving birth to her. And although Demetri was not bound by blood they were willing to overlook it just once. I agreed, but I was unable to convince them. For a month I tried, but when it came time for us to be bound up, Demetri was killed. One of the elder Hart brothers, Kol, didn't want his sister married to a 'beast' and decided to take matters into his own hands. I have never forgiven them for that. Demetri was kind. We fled from the village; my husband, children, niece and my only remaining brother fleeing into the country." She looked at him curiously, wondering why he needed this information.

"I later learnt that one by one the families died out until few remained. Sebastian died of old age, at the age of 46 which was practically ancient then. And his families generations continued. My own children married and had their own children. And while Brooke's children died out in 1649, Kristopher's live in this very town," she said with a small smile. "As far as I am aware, Samuel Desin, is the only remaining Original vampire although I am unsure as to his story. And there are three Hart's living in 'Paradise'. Kol, Baylee and Jace. So it is not surprising that you've been having trouble finding us. Benji died in 1892, and my children are gone now along with my niece. It's just me left."

Noer looked Kiara in the eye, with a very serious expression. Taking in a deep breath, he opens his mouth to speak,

"What if I told you, that there might be a way to uplift the curse, while keeping our powers intact?" he asks her.

"If you are the only Original left, or if you are the only one I am able to find, then you might be my last hope." he tells her, his eyes, never leaving hers.

"I would be willing to listen, but I can't say that I would participate," she said simply, relaxing back in her chair to pick at the last of her cookie. "But I can find you an Original who might if I am unwilling. Although I am not in touch with the Fairies, there is one in town who is. And there is a possibility that I might know where Samuel Desin is, or at least where his son is."
