Anders Pike, Maine. A sleepy little seaside town where nothing is quite what it seems. Descendants of the original monsters all reside here and are attempting to live their lives as humanly as possible and blend in. But how can this be possible when the only way for some to survive is by feeding on the blood of humans? Others grow fangs and fur one night a month, others are immortal, never changing. Vampires, werewolves, witches. Monsters. Humans. How long can they co-exist in a small town? Only time will tell.

1) Follow the RPN rules. If at any time there is conflict between rules, RPN rules take precedence.
2) This is a mature RP. If themes such as drug use and violence offend you, please look elsewhere.
3) When posting in a group of more than two people, please establish a turn order amongst yourselves.
4) We ask that you follow a two paragraph minimum rule. We know that sometimes the muse is hiding, time is short, or you just feel you have nothing to contribute, and sometimes single paragraphs happen. When possible, though, please shoot for two paragraphs.
5) Please remain active! If you are absent on your turn for three full days, your turn will be skipped and you will be poked by a mod. If you do not respond to the poke within three days, you will be kicked from the RP.
6) To avoid the ramifications of rule 5, please make arrangements if you know you will be unable to post for a while. Notify us via the OOC thread, and if need be, discuss your absence with other writers in your storyline.
7) This should be a given, but no God modding.
8) Please choose a pre-made character from the list to audition with. If all pre-mades are taken, or there is absolutely no one you are interested in, please send one of the mods the basic idea of your original character before auditioning.
9) To audition for a character, post the character bio with any suggested additions, and a 100 word minimum writing sample from any work. The writing sample may be waived if the mods know your work.
10) Faces chosen to represent the characters are mostly for fun, and are negotiable. Feel free to use photos/gifs in your posts, or not. The choice is completely up to you!
Have a great time, and if you have any questions, please ask one of the mods! (@RhiaRaye, @sidmaxification, and one more on the way.)
When does the story take place?
The story begins in August 2013, one year before the actual beginning of the writing. This way, we won't accidentally write ourselves into the future. I will be using the actual dates of the moon phases, but I'll be making up my own weather report.
What is the Anders Pike Gazette?
The daily newspaper of Anders Pike is how the main narrative of the RP will be controlled. Because this is more of a daily life RP, we do not currently have much in the way of a main storyline. That is up to the players to create. The Anders Pike Gazette will help to control the flow of time in the story, and relate any information important to all characters, such as the weather, moon phase, mysterious deaths, etc. the paper will not be posted at the beginning of every single game day, just when it is necessary to get all characters and storylines on the same track.
Here is a list of available characters, separated by gender.
Cherokee Bell
23, Werewolf, Bartender
Cherokee Bell grew up in foster homes her entire life, not knowing she was descended directly from the “Wolf Man”, the most powerful of her species. It wasn’t until she hit puberty at the age of twelve that she transformed, completely terrified of who and what she was. It was within the first year of finding out that she was found by her older brother River and he took her under his wing, teaching her everything she needed to know of their heritage.
Cherokee moved to Anders Pike with her older brother to start a new life and do their absolute best to live as human as they possibly could. She works as a bartender in the local bar that her brother owns and does modeling on the side in an attempt to pay the bills and just be a normal girl, which is something she was never able to achieve as a child. She and River are still searching for what happened to their parents and why the both of them ended up in foster homes to this day.
Libby Carver
22, Human, Tattoo Artist
Libby Carver grew up in the outskirts of Sheffield, England with her childhood best friend Lucas Forester until the two decided to make the move to the United States three years ago to Anders Pike, Maine and open their own tattoo parlor. They had tried to break into the business back home but it never worked out.
Libby has always been a bit different from those around her, she has always been able to see into who people really are and past their facades. Lucas always referred to it as her “sixth sense” jokingly, but the matter of the fact is she has always seen things others couldn’t, seen people’s true forms. Being in Anders Pike the past three years has been trying on her sanity and it seems to be falling away from her piece by piece.
Didi Franklin
19, Human, Stockboy
Didi was born in Ontario and lived there for most of her life. Never being real close with her family, she didn’t grieve much when her last known surviving family member died, her Uncle. Being the youngest and only child, most of her family died from old age or Sickle-cell disease that has been passed down her mother’s side.
Once her Uncle was buried, she dropped out of high school, fled to the states to try and find something different. She ended up in Maine and accidentally stumbled upon Anders Pike while trying traveling along the coast. She didn’t expect any jobs to be available in the small town, but as luck would have it, the owner of the local grocer was hiring a stock boy. She had only planned to stay a few months to save up some money, but she found that she liked the towns charms and decided to stay.
Agatha “Aggie” Logan
23, Human, Journalist
Aggie Logan was born and raised in Anders Pike and can’t really picture herself ever leaving, unless it would mean to pursue her journalist career in a larger city. But being co-editer of the Anders Pike Times is good enough for now, covering any and all news in the small town.
An alumnus of the local East Maine State University, she spends a lot of time on the alumni board organizing charity events and in general being a gem of the local community. She has always suspected there’s been more than meets the eye to Anders Pike, and with her newly developed investigative journalism skills, she’s sure that she’ll get to the bottom of her suspicions soon, no matter how dangerous.
Callum Ainsworth
500- Looks 30, Vampire, Nomad
Callum Ainsworth hasn’t loved much in his 500 years of living. He loved his sire, otherwise known as Dracula, but after being abandoned and left to his own devices long ago, he roamed the world alone, never staying in one place for long, appreciating art and culture wherever he went. Hailing from 16th century England, Callum had lost everything that ever meant a thing to him. His family taken by disease and starvation, his home taken by his feudal lord, when asked by Dracula if he would like to become immortal, he of course agreed. Once left to his own devices, though, Callum found himself wishing he could die, to join his lost family.
Once he found Claudia Gacy sneaking out of her plantation home in the late 19th century, he felt he finally had something to do, a purpose. In her he saw life and light that once thrived in his own daughter so many centuries before. He wanted her by his side at all times, and never to see that light leave her eyes. Once his own childe became too out of control for him to handle, he left her, deciding she would have to learn how to be on her own before he could ever stay with her. After approaching her and sending her away to Anders Pike, Callum decided he would stay nearby, on the outskirts of town, to keep an eye on her.
Jace Anderson
28, Vampire, Record Store Clerk
Jace Anderson counts his life as having begun when he met Dia Gacy. He grew up in a small town in Midwest America, and set out on dreams of having music as his career. Years and thousands of bottles of booze and pills later, all while battling severe depression, he was found by his sire near death in the basement of a dank and dark venue in downtown L.A. Four years have passed since then, and he has been with Dia every day since. He indulges on her whims all the while controlling his own urges in an attempt to get back to the person he was before the drugs and alcohol came in and ruined him.
Jace would follow Dia to the ends of the earth and has proven this by joining her in opening a small Record shop in Anders Pike at the request of her own Sire to begin controlling herself. The small town setting is the first Jace has been in since he himself graduated high school and set out on the road. This is his first chance at being able to settle down and really get back to who he used to be, the person he wants to be once more, despite his newly developed abilities.
River Bell
27, Werewolf, Bar Owner
River Bell lost his parents at the young age of seven when his little sister was only three. The two siblings became separated and put into different foster homes throughout their entire childhood until River left home at the age of seventeen to track down Cherokee and build a home for the two of them. He took her away from the foster home and began to raise her himself in the small town of Anders Pike and in the past few years was finally able to open his bar.
River has been searching his entire life for what happened to his and Cherokee’s parents, both of them still unaware of the fact that they are descended from the original werewolf. He is still trying to find and put the pieces of their family history together while giving his sister the life she deserves but was never able to get until he came back into her life.
Jackson “Jack” Campbell
24, Human, Bookstore Clerk
Jackson was born and raised in southern Louisiana just outside of New Orleans, or as he calls it NOLA, and has retained the accent ever since. A proud alumini and English major of Louisiana State University, he moved to Anders Pike just six months ago when his late great-grandmother passed away and left her stately mansion and bookstore to her favorite relative.
Jack, upon going through his family’s belongings, has now come to the realization that there are things of this world that he had no earthly idea existed before now. He isn’t quite sure whether it is all factual or his beloved great-grandmother really was as loopy as they all say. But his experiences in Anders Pike so far are leaning towards the former rather than the latter. But why exactly his great-grandmother kept records of such creatures and their whereabouts he isn’t sure just yet.
Lucas Forrester
26, Human, Tattoo Artist
Lucas grew up in Sheffield, England with his best friend Libby Carver until the two decided to take their tattoo business across the pond to Anders Pike, Maine. He left his music career behind in order to pursue his art and tattooing and stay by his best friend’s side.
What Libby doesn’t know is that Lucas is still battling his drug and alcohol addiction, therefore unable to see her struggling to deal with what he refers to as her “sixth sense.” He still blames himself for his younger brother dying in a car accident in which he was driving when he was a teenager, and the guilt weighs heavier on him every day, causing his depression and addictions to further drag him down. He puts on a good front for Libby and his other friends around town, but it is slowly becoming harder and harder.
Damian Yates
24, Human, Undertaker
Damian’s family has lived in Anders Pike for generations, and for the same amount of time, they have provided funerary services for the residents of Anders Pike. Damian took on the role of undertaker while his father prepared to retire. Damian helps provide under the table burial when the more unique residents of Anders Pike have an accident. He has also been known to aid in procuring organs, when needed.
Outgoing and cheerful, considering his occupation, Damian tries not to let his profession get in the way of connecting with the other residents of Anders Pike, be they human or otherwise. However, it does seem to be a little off-putting to some of the fairer sex, much to Damian’s disappointment.
Claudia "Dia" Nicoleta Gacy
120-looks 22, Vampire, Record Store Owner ((user coming soon))
Claudia comes from the most powerful blood line of vampires- Dracula himself. Growing up in the southern United States until she was turned at the young age of 20, she was always a bit too wild for her parents’ liking. When offered the opportunity to stay young and strong forever, Dia jumped at the chance. She spent the first few years of her vampire life with her sire but then drifted apart from him once he began trying to curb her behavior and appetite.
Dia spent the next 90 years gorging herself on blood, sex, and violence. When her actions threatened to oust all vampires and not just herself, her sire came to her once more and forced her to choose between losing him forever or controlling her actions. It was then that Dia relocated to Anders Pike, Maine and opened a Record Store with her young childe Jace. She spends her time running the store and causing small amounts of havoc throughout the sleepy Maine town, all the while trying to force back memories of her human childhood that caused her to begin her life of running in the first place.
Tennessee Bates
24, Human/Double Persona, Med Student/Clinic Nurse ((@sidmaxification ))
Tennessee Bates:
Tennessee moved to Anders Pike with his father when he was only a few months old. His mother died when he was a month old because of her “condition”. He refuses to leave Anders Pike because it is secluded enough for him not to worry about his other half too much.
He tries to keep a low profile and stays out of everyone’s way. Ever since his ancestor Jekyll “created” Hyde, scientists have been searching for a live subject to test on.
Presently, he is in medical school to become a surgeon, but also studies neuroscience to try and understand how his other half works. He works at the local Clinic as a nurse to keep his debts down. There isn’t anyone he calls a friend and tends to keep to himself for fear of Hyde finding them out and taking them from him. Tennessee and Hyde communicate through writing or a small voice recorder that is kept on their person at all times.
Hyde:
Extremely talented in the culinary arts and can cook just about anything as long as he has the supplies he needs. His love of food came from people watching. Wherever there was good food, people seemed to flock. He doesn’t so much enjoy their company, but he enjoys the challenge that strangers give him. If he finds them interesting enough then he tends to seek out their company. He constantly refers to Tennessee as his older brother and usually forgets to tell him what day it is after he’s had his fun.
Victoria Kurten Jollenbeck
21, Constructed Human, Computer Science Student ((@RhiaRaye))
Victoria can’t remember the day she died, but she can remember the day she was reborn. Doctor Frankenstein’s creation found her face down in a river in Germany, and chose to grant her life the way life had been granted to him. Victoria can’t remember anything before that time, and she isn’t sure she wants to.
Victoria’s body is a constant weakened condition, especially her heart. It has been difficult finding the right match for her biochemistry, and Victoria must treat her organs and nervous system with care. About once or twice a month one or multiple of her body parts may cease to function. The body part must either be replaced or given a shock to the right nerves connected to the affected area.
Victoria moved to Anders Pike ten years ago, so that she might find the safety her father couldn’t give her. Maine: a perfect place for her to hide her scars and failing organs; a place where, just maybe, she can find some normalcy.
Elizabeth Myers
43, Witch, English Professor ((@JoshQ ))
For as long as there have been vampires and werewolves and other creatures of their kind, there have been witches, and Elizabeth;.. well she isn’t that great at it. A four time divorcee, Elizabeth decided long ago that Mr. Darcy was a much more suitable companion than any man she’d ever meet in her real life. Her time is spent focusing on her grading, writing her latest- well, only- novel, and helping not only her human students, but the not so human ones as well.
Elizabeth prides herself on being the mother of East Maine State University, her door always open for any student that would like to come in to discuss their work, books, or the fact that they slipped up and killed or turned someone the night before. Her magic consists of herbal remedies to heal common ailments and help with her students’ concentration, never exceeding that, much to her family’s disappointment.
Hattie
22, Human Mummy, Barista/Business Management Student ((@ElleJoyner))
Hattie is a descendant of great pharaoh, who was mummified and subsequently returned to life. In order to stay alive, Hattie must undergo a mummification ritual every Sunday night before sunset. Without the ritual, her organs will turn to dust. Despite the strangeness of her condition, Hattie views it as no big deal. She sees no reason why her circumstance should keep her from living an ordinary life.
In keeping with that, Hattie refuses to live off her royal inheritance, instead working as a barista in Anders Pike. She moved to Anders Pike about a month ago, determined to find a quiet place where the royal family would not look for her. Elliot, whom she calls Jeeves, is the only person associated with the royal family who knows her whereabouts. He was employed by the royal family to perform the ritual on Hattie; without him, she couldn’t survive.
Hattie’s mother and father died when she was only a few years old. The royal family, comprised of other descendants of the ancient pharaohs, looked after until she was old enough to strike out on her own. Hattie just wants to live her own life, without the help of royal heritage or money. Hattie’s dream is to one day own her own company, built from the ground up by her own hard work.
Elliot Alden
23, Human, Emplyed by Egyptian Royal Family ((@RhiaRaye))
The son of parents who moved to Egypt, Elliot spent his teen years in Egypt, learning most of the traditions but none of the language. Due to his keen insight into the funerary customs of ancient Egypt, he was employed the by the Egyptian royal family. Elliot’s mother and father, familiar with the royal family, stayed behind in Egypt as Elliot travelled with Hattie. Elliot’s salary is directly deposited into a bank account, and though to outsiders he might look unemployed, in reality he isn’t doing too badly.
Anders Pike, Maine. Elliot really isn’t sure why Hattie decided to come here, but where she goes, he goes. Not only for the money, either; Hattie isn’t so bad of a person. Elliot is bored in the sleepy town, preferring a bigger city, or at least a few more women to chat up. Elliot spends most of his free time practicing his near mastery of papier-mâché art.
Xavier Dale
24, Human, Lightkeeper ((@Elle Joyner))
Born and raised in Anders Pike, like most of his family before him, Xavier has never been far from home. Something about his fellow residents of Anders Pike has always kept him feeling as though the rest of the world could never be as interesting. After his father died six years ago, Xavier was left in charge of the lighthouse, a job handed down through his family. With his mother retired, living in Miami, Xavier is almost alone in Anders Pike. Not that it bothers him; he was never very outgoing. Keeping the lighthouse in his father’s memory, however, Xavier gives tours of the light and the nearby museum despite his reclusiveness.
