Two childhood friends meet again fatefully years later, now adults. Little did they know this journey would overthrow their government.
As the hook says, basically two childhood friends that haven’t seen each other in a long time meet under unfortunate circumstances. Something else that is linked to these circumstances launches them on the run from the government. Which eventually lands them planning on overthrowing the government. This plot is very versatile so I would love to see what everyone’s own take is. I already have a plot and idea in mind that I’ll share momentarily. So if that's catches your eye we can use what I have!
This takes place in an almost fantasy/medieval world. Magic almost, almost, runs wild here. Magic can be harnessed easily in this world by the people that the magic will let them. Most people have some capacity to take advantage of magic. Depending on the person, some may be able to move mountains while some can at the bare minimum read someone’s mind.
Anyway there was a coup within the country that led to a change in leadership. The previous captain of the royal guard (working title) staged a coup and successfully took over. Depending on where someone led on the political spectrum, some were for and against. Most people were against it but stayed complicit to not be executed for treason.The new king's main focus was on magic users. Although highly selective, depending on how the king felt about a certain ability, she would enlist their help. Now if they didn’t join her, nobody knew what happened to them. They vanished from the face of the earth. Nobody heard from them again. The King doesn’t take kindly to individuals who don’t serve a purpose to her.
Depending on what town or village someone is, their view on the King and Magic-user differ greatly. Most will shun magic-users. They want no reason for the King’s special team to come looking for the magic user they are harboring. That team tends to leave some kind of bloodshed in the wake.
For the main plot, our characters would have been young kids, (infants to 5 years old), when the coup happened. Now they will be adults and see the world in a different lens than they did as children. Fatefully they meet again, (planned or unplanned). The idea is that they are both magic-users but if you don’t want your character to use magic that’s fine with me too! I’m down for whatevers.
I have a lot of side characters, villains, allies and stuff in mind that I can fill in the blanks. One important character that I will be rping as is the King. But besides that, I want you to have free range with who you play. Maybe they are a part of the King’s special force of magic-user now, maybe they live a simple life helping their family run a store, maybe they are on the run. I would love to have you put your own side characters in as well as this world is very dynamic to me and I love seeing how people perceive it differently. If you plan on doing this plot please read the magic system as it is specific as it’s not anything special but it’s just more background knowledge. But with that said, I already have a character in mind for our main characters but we can talk more about that in messages as this post is already getting long enough.
I don’t plan on having romance be at the forefront of this rp like my other ideas. But if it happens, it happens

.The magic system is pretty simple. People are born with a wide variety of magic. But no one that is living is allowed to have the same. There can be sub-categories, like fire magic or water. But for example if someone is able to harness the power of electricity (like think of lightning), that means nobody else can have that power besides them until they die.
The range of how people can control their magic depends on the individual and their ancestry. People might have the ability to cast magic but it’s very simple. Like bringing back electricity, for someone who doesn’t have affinity to it, it’s as if they accidentally shock someone. But some people's affinity can be the catalyst for events that can change the fate of the world, create natural disasters. Like lightning, it creates out-of-control forest fires. Or it terraforms the land so badly that it would take decades to fix. Stuff like that.
I don’t have any control of the way you want their theme to work. Like if they have affinity to water and can only use ice, but think creatively. Maybe they can create permafrost in a hot climate. Stuff like that, as long as it’s not like God-moding, I don’t really care how you want to run your character. I’m just more interested in seeing how you work their ability in! Magic doesn’t range from just fire, water, earth and air, it can range to the weather, mind-control, alchemy, making constructs (homunculi), etc.

Requirements & Stuff
Hi y’all my name is Fishy! I’m 21 and I’ve been roleplaying for a long-ass while now. I like to joke a lot but I swear the way I text doesn’t correlate to how I actually roleplay. I love dynamic roleplay that doesn't necessarily always have happy moments. I thrive on conflict. And I stay more interested when there is more for the characters to do. Although I do love mundane moments of human life made a tad bit interesting due to fantasy elements. I’m not too picky when it comes to genres albeit, I do favor more fantasy SoL,fantasy, actions and occasionally romance.
For this, I only want to roleplay in Third-person, para-format. I feel like you can’t convey the same things through script. So if you want to roleplay using script, look at my other posts because I will not do it for this idea specifically. Thanks
My response times greatly vary. I sometimes will be very snappy and send responses a couple times a day or it may be just a week. If you need updates on how my schedule for posting looks, let me know. If I didn’t respond to our roleplay, it’s most likely that I’ve been busy. So just message me if anything. (This does not mean you can ask me every single day, or god-forbid every hour for a response). Even though I may not respond to the roleplay right away, I am very easy to get in contact with OOC. We could use RPNation to talk OOC or we could use Discord, whichever you prefer. But I love yapping and talking to my roleplay partners so please expect that when you message.
When it comes to roleplaying, I can usually write very little or a lot depending on a scene. I can usually write anywhere from 250 - 1000+ words. I love expositions and writing in a way that it is almost like it’s in a book. So I include a lot of details that are dependent on the current scene we are doing. I do have a couple of samples if you need them. But just so you're aware. I will never require you to match my response because I do get carried away.
I can also juggle side characters and I absolutely love having them as it makes the world feel more alive. I DM for Dungeons and Dragons for my friends so I have no problem coming up with stuff on the fly.
Now more importantly, here are some requirements/request.
- THE MOST IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT: Do not message me if you are 17 or under. I require that everyone must be 18+.
- Again! No script-writing, I want paragraphs. If you’re interested in writing script, check my other post and we can come to a compromise there. Danks
- Timezone: I don’t mind large timezone gaps, I do prefer if you’re in a similar time zone as me which is MST just because it makes planning and talking OOC soooo much easier. It’s not a dealbreaker and I’ll try to work with you as long as you try to work with me too.
- Be creative!
- Response Time: Like I said earlier. I’m not going to always be like off the walls crazy when it comes to responding to the roleplay. I don’t expect you to either. It would be nice if I could get at least one response a week but I mean this sincerely, if you take a month or months to respond, I ain't gonna give ya shit. Stuff happens! Your life comes first always.
- Responses: I’m not going to ask for responses that are so literary good that it’ll make me sob. I believe in quality over quantitiy. As long as you put in the effort in, I don't really care if the post is only a paragraph long.
- No god-modding.
- Be okay with Queer characters. I am queer myself so naturally, I'm going to have characters that are queer. If you're not fine with LGBTQ+ elements, I am not the person to roleplay with. Sorry batman.
