Forevermore
Still wishing on dandelions.
- LOTPLOT
Ah, New York, the city of dreams. It's where people go to chase their goals and be the best at what they're doing. For decades, New York was the place to be. What better place for a fresh-faced conductor to create a brand-new orchestra?
Juno Tsao-Lee is a young woman, fresh out of one of New York's many performing arts academies, with spunk and a dream-- to create a spectacular band from all stretches of the USA, made out of dreaming young music talents such as herself, and be known as one of the youngest conductors of all time. Of course, she needed a band. A conductor is nothing without a band to lead.
She sent out a mission statement. She reached out to friends, colleagues, people she had created ties with at her old school. She was given a chance. If she managed to pull together a symphony orchestra and bring them up to world-class level in a year, she would be allowed to play in the Beacon Hall in NYC and make history. But, here's her dilemma, of course. The band needs to put in as much effort as it can, and a band full of college-age kids and younger being fully mature? Yeah, not going to happen. Although it isn't Juno's prime directive (obviously), there's no doubt drama and more will happen between her band members, whether she likes it or not. Will these interludes bring her amateur symphony closer together, or tear her dream apart?
- ECTIONSSECTIONS
The band will be divided into these main groups, before being divided further: Percussion, String, Woodwind, and Brass.
Percussion instruments are always in the very back of the band, because their instruments are the biggest and loudest. Their sheet music is the most simple, but they hold the rhythm and beat of the band together. The percussion instruments involve drums, tambourines, triangles, xylophones, maracas, etc.
String instruments are finicky and perhaps the most difficult to play. Some of their instruments are closely related to percussion. They are often the most beautiful sounding and are mostly used for classical music. Some examples of string instruments are pianos, harps, guitars, violins, basses, etc.
Woodwind instruments are delicate and soft. They sit in the very front of the band, and there are often many of them, so they can be heard. However, they also sound beautiful, and are often the stars of solos. Some wind instruments are flutes, clarinets, bassoons, oboes, piccolos, etc.
Brass instruments are also wind instruments, but they are very different, mostly because of their shiny brass colors and loud tendencies. Brass instruments are snazzy, shiny, and can adapt, from classical to jazzy. Brass instruments include trumpets, saxophones, tubas, french horns, trombones, etc.
People playing the same instruments will be seated together in their groups, as that just makes sense.
- THER INFOOTHER INFO
This is just a bit more info I think is relevant.
So, the conductor, as you all know, is the leader of the band. Juno will also be teaching and assisting with things her band members might not understand.
Thanks to the power of the internet, The word of a brand new orchestra spread from sea to shining sea, so people from all over America moved to New York in hopes of being able to join.
The Beacon Theatre is real, and is actually in NYC. I didn't just pull that out of my ass. Go check it out, it's pretty neat.
This code wasn't made by me, of course. I just found this in the BBcode library :3
The try-outs and everything else will be held in the Manhattan School of Music (also real), where she studied and currently has a part-time job as an instructor.
I guess I should also mention that, how most musicians have more than one job. You gotta have a steady pay flow.
She has a deal with one of the top managers of the Beacon Theatre. Remember, she has to get this done in a YEAR in order to secure her first gig.
Yes, I was a band kid. Deal with it. SAXOPHONE FOR LIFE BABY-
- ULESRULES
Here are some simple rules I want everyone to follow to make sure this whole thing runs smoothly.
1) This roleplay will be for people 18+. I'm sorry, but I've had many experiences with minors that left me feeling uncomfortable, so I'd rather not deal with that. I know you can hide your age here, so this is more of a warning than a rule. Please. If I somehow figure out that you're not the age you're supposed to be, you will be kicked out immediately.
2) You will be required to make a CS for this RP. I will be making a thread very soon where you can post your characters. You can make it fancy, make it paragraphs, use coding, I don't care, as long as you follow all the requirements that I will attach to the CS thread before the deadline, which remains TBD for the moment.
3) Please participate in the OOC as well as the main RP. If you're going to participate, participate fully. It's a pet peeve of mine, people that blow up the OOC and don't contribute to the main.
4) Everything will be on this site only. It makes it easier if everything is in one place. Also, if you post something HERE, you're supposed to go full site. That's what the discord ad thread is for. That's another pet peeve, especially because not everyone has discord.
5) Please be nice and respect one another. If there are any problems, please try to make amends, or tell me about it. I won't tolerate bullying or arguing.
6) DNI if you're xenophobic, homophobic, etc. Just don't.
7) Try to make your characters unique. I'm not asking for too much there. I'm so tired of the same old stereotypes (like 'the girl that's super shy but plays really well when she's by herself' thingy)
8) Ask me any questions you may have, and please enjoy!!
