"I can go so far on tolerating people who have committed crimes. Sure, everyone has a second chance at redemption, I believe that. But some crimes are just downright unforgivable..." That's what other people night believe in.
But me? I believe in Sysphy (see my profile status posts for further context). And have no general opinion in what crime should be forgivable or unforgivable. The law can be as annoying as it is contradictory.
Seriously, why don't all crimes under a specific category get the same punishment? For example, all degrees of murder get (n) punishment. That's it.
But no, each degree has its own punishment. For me, that just feels wrong. Murder is murder, and all degrees of murder are murder. They aren't separate crimes.
However I do agree with this... "Feature" on sexual misconduct crimes. There can be different ways it's committed, and with different varying severity. That's why harsher degrees deserve harsher punishments.
But for murder? They are the exact same thing, murder can be committed through many ways like sexual misconduct. The only reason murder should have different punishment is if it causes severe mutilation in the process.

Rehabilitation is the greatest thing we have in the judicial system. We, even though capable of atrocities, are also capable of profound compassion and altruism. And with that altruism we can make society a better place with changing criminals for the good. Jessica Jackson's case is proof of that, along with many others.
