Description: Perhaps one might have referred to Princess Cynthia as a delicate flower, but that was long ago. Years of battle have taken a toll on her, with her gaining scars from numerous battles, along with a fair amount of muscle for her otherwise slim frame. Her light blue hair is tied into a long braid, and her ruby red eyes can only be described as piercing and weary. She usually wears a full set of plate armour that has been enchanted to be far more durable than a normal set, along with being imbued with holy magic to provide a greater resistance against demonic attacks. Since coming through the portal she has further enhanced her armour with modern addons such as magazine pouches and Kevlar plating. Like all members of the royal family, she has a birthmark on her body, hers being on her back.
Personality: Cynthia was once a cheerful and optimistic young woman, but just about any and all traces of her former self is now gone. In the years since the Sundering, she has become extremely cynical and bitter, having lost just about everything. Her many battles and experiences have left her scarred and weary, and she has also become bitter. Now she only lives to fight the invaders, driven by vengeance and lust for revenge, and hatred of the enemy. Yet she is also resolute and driven, always willing to learn, and since the opening of the Gate she has spent her time with the militaries of Earth, learning modern tactics and how to use firearms and other equipment.

Born the third child of King Delroy and Queen Cathleen of the Kingdom of Irdonia, Cynthia stood practically zero chance of inheriting her throne. Her oldest brother was next in line and as such had been groomed from birth to be its heir, and the middle child also had spent years being taught to be placed as the head of the Royal Council when the time came. Her childhood was spent as what would be expected for a princess, with everything she could ever want and need right at her fingertips. As such, she was a rather spoiled and sheltered child, spending her days in the royal palace as she dreamed of princes and knights.

When she turned sixteen, she was to meet her future betrothed, a young duke named Clement from a neighbouring kingdom to further strengthen the ties between their nations. The two of them fell in love immediately, and it seemed that the marriage was going to go along much better than expected, and she would live a happy life with her husband.

The Sundering put a stop to that.

During the wedding ceremony within the palace, portals from another dimension appeared all over the world, and demonic invaders poured through to raze all of Erodiel. They struck without warning and without mercy, and Irdonia's defenders were quickly overwhelmed. Cynthia's brothers along with her mother were killed during the invasion when a portal appeared in the palace. Cynthia and Clement attempted to escape, but Clement was struck down by a demon. He had however given his life to protect his beloved, dying in the process. She eventually escaped from certain death with her father, the king.

The events that had just unfolded practically shattered her mind, and she went from an innocent and happy girl to a traumatised and scarred young woman. She spent many weeks after that in solitude and depression. Most of her family was dead as was her beloved, after all, and her father had been heavily wounded. One day, while going through her remaining belongings, she found a note addressed to her from Clement. It was his last message, telling her to be brave no matter what, and that he would always love her.

That was enough to put her out of her depression, and she decided that she would be stronger so that she would not lose anyone else. She took up arms, undergoing training under the watchful eye of the surviving Royal Guard. Once she had been trained enough she insisted to be sent out against the demonic invaders, and she along with the those who had survived battled the demons, winning many victories and eventually beat them back to the largest portal they had come from, known as the Ring of Fire.

Eventually, after two years of battle, the allied armies marched on the Ring of Fire. A fierce battle followed, with Cynthia herself slaying hundreds of demons, pushing them back. It seemed as if they were winning, and that they would banish the demons from the world.

However, something happened. Demons even stronger than before emerged from the portal in massive numbers, and suddenly the tide of battle had turned. The allied armies fell one by one until they were reduced to a mere few. Enraged, Cynthia attempted to make a final stand, but she was saved by the surviving members of her father's court who whisked her away to safety.

With the allied armies being reduced to a meagre few and the demons even stronger than ever, the survivors were forced to live in the ruins of their home, hiding from the invaders. In the five years since the great battle Cynthia had grown even more cynical and apathetic, now wondering if the war would truly end.

- Mk 18 Mod 1: A variant of the M4A1 carbine with a shortened barrel, the Mod 1 is optimised for close quarters combat. Cynthia has a preference for this weapon due to its compact frame allowing her to quickly swap between it and her sword. Fires NATO-standard 5.56mm rounds.
- Glock 17: Simple, reliable, and durable, the Glock 17is a highly-popular sidearm with special forces around the world.
- Faithkeeper: A longsword that has been part of the Royal Family's armory for generations, Cynthia is the most recent holder of the Faithkeeper. A blade forged from mythril, it does not dull or rust, and retains its shine, and can even glow in the dark. Due to its composition, it is also surprisingly lightweight. The blade itself can channel Cynthia's Abjuration magic to amplify her attacks or cast protective barriers, and can even fire beams of light from long range. During the war against the demons it has proven itself to be particularly effective due to its composition, with mythril being naturally more deadly against demons.
- Dagger: A sleek dagger with a curved blade, this weapon is used when Cynthia does not have access to Faithkeeper, and is typically only used in emergency situations.
- Equipment bag: Contains medical supplies, rations, and other trinkets.

Physical Appearance: Leon is a very typical human in his physical tones: Well within average weight, height and build. His demeanor is what sets him apart from other members of his squadron - brooding and thoughtful, he is almost never seen to wear a smile. Since his enlistment in the SAS he is always armed, even if just a pistol, and wears military uniforms or combat attire even when off-duty. It's a common joke in his former SAS squadron (Gamma) that he was born in a suit of armour.

Features: Having no scars nor tattoos, Leon is most identifiable by his mixed-European accent. Though most soldiers know him only as a voice on the radio, since he operates a kilometer away from their location.
Personality: Leon is a brooding, often ponderous, man. It is uncommon that he speaks more than a single sentence - most of his military communication is frightfully by-the-book and concise. Even when not engaged on the field, however, Leon has very little to say to his fellow soldiers. He often communicates in only single words or phrases. Leon is always polite, even if he is curt, but he is emotionally distant from everyone and everything. There aren't any pictures of him smiling and none of him in casual attire. He always wears a military uniform or combat armour even when off duty and refuses to part with his pistol under any circumstance other than direct order from a superior. Though he is fluent in French, German and English he speaks only the latter in the presence of anyone who does not specifically request it; a thing which has annoyed more than one French-speaking UN soldier. His origins are still hinted in the fact that he is always clean and kempt; even spending time in the field to try and wipe dirt and blood from his armour.

Biography: A French Athlete-turned-Special Forces, Leon was raised mostly by his mother and uncle (father's sibling) in Northern France. His father was a cargo-ship officer that rarely returned home, though he did write sometimes. His uncle, who is mostly Irish, is a rugby coach and encouraged young Leon to compete in sports. Leon, however, was a very brooding young man who didn't much enjoy "team activities" and he proved to be very poor at most sports. However, after begrudgingly attending an archery lesson, he learned that he was quite skilled at marksmanship.

When he turned 18 (2017), Leon began training with rifles and pistols instead of arrows - hoping to compete in the Paris Olympics of 2024. But then...the world changed. Léonce approached the British government after the initial invasion, with his small pile of certificates and marksmanship medals and offered his services. Some exceptions to the rules were made and SAS recruited him as a sniper. Still a reclusive man, even as an adult, Leon's ability to kill a Demon from a kilometer away more than outweighs his brooding attitude. He's certainly not the most friendly team-mate but no one questions his dependability.

Family:
Anna Blanchet, Mother - 47 Years Old - Resident of Le Havre, France. Anna is a pharmacist who works with local hospitals and has a passion for gardening, for which she has won a few awards. She is an active member of a few farmer's markets / self-grow communities.

Liam Sullivan, Father - 53 Years Old - Officially resides in Le Harve, France but is never present. Liam is the Third Mate of the HMS Nicola, a VLCC-class Oil Tanker owned by British Petroleum. He has spent most of his life at sea and continues to do so. He has some interest in his son, writing him letters (today: e-mails) and sending a part of his salary home via his brother, Connor. But he refuses to retire and has only visited his family in-person a handful of times.

Connor Sullivan, Paternal Uncle - 48 Years Old - Resident of Le Harve, France. Connor is something of a father-figure to Leon, though he is biologically not. A rugby coach who travels frequently, Connor spends as much time at his home in France as he can. Though neither he nor Liam are legally married to Anna, it is quite clear that they have an extended relationship with her and Leon, as they own the large house in which they live and have paid for much of Leon's upbringing.

Liam and Connor often came to blows when they were younger but now that they are both aging, they appear to get along better and have had two polite family reunions. The exact details of why the two brothers have had this feude is not known but most people would guess it has something to do with Leon. In spite of their differences, the Blanchet-Sullivan family owns a large and luxurious house on the coast at which they all live and host frequent visitations from extended family and friends.
Equipment:
Beretta 92X - A "Performance Defense" weapon, the Beretta 92X uses the same frame as the classical military sidearm but has been custom-built and fine-tuned for marksmen. The weapon is usually used in shooting competitions and has been Leon's personal sidearm since he won it in a 2020 contest.

AS50 - The (in)famous Accuracy Internal .50BMG rifle is symbolic in the British military. Technically an Anti-Material weapon designed to punch through the armour of vehicles, it proved to be equally effective at punching holes in the supernatural armour of demons during the initial invasion. A very heavy and unwieldy weapon, it is extremely accurate at long ranges but completely impractical to use in a normal engagement.

Osprey Mk 3 Light - A revision of the 2010 Enhanced Combat Armour made for the British military, the Mark 3 version was released ahead of schedule in response to the demonic invasion in the UK. Leon wears a modified, "light" version that utilizes a zipper-attached camo-sheet (which he refers to as a cape). This allows the armour to assume different styles of camo-cloak by removing the sheet and attaching a different one. The armour is lighter than the normal combat sets worn by typical soldiers; it offers very good thermal and water insulation but has pretty poor ballistic armour.

SAS Recon Kit - General equipment issued to members of the SAS, this kit includes all of the typical things that a commando or extended-deployment operative would require such as a torch (flashlight), compass, batteries, knife, freeze-dried MREs, etc. etc.

Skills & Abilities: Elite Marksman & Strong Composure - Not supernaturally so but more than the average human soldier.
Perhaps in nod to his French upbringing he has been known to carry an extra canteen of dark red wine instead of water. He seems to be something of a snob in this regard, refusing to drink any other kind of liquor.

During his few training deployments, Leon has been occasionally observed to interact with the locals in exchange for minor luxuries like chocolate or soap. Exactly how Leon manages to know who has such things and how he buys them is a bit of a mystery. Perhaps he can be charming when he chooses to be? His squad doesn't question it: Especially when he shares.

Features: Davian has brown skin, blue eyes, and shaggy black hair. He has two vertical bars tattooed beneath his left eye, one longer than the other; they almost seem to glow. He wears a beaded necklace, the beads various shades of white, blue, and brown. His second necklace is a circular silver pendant with the symbol of Tahira engraved on it; this pendant used to be prominently displayed, but now he keeps it under his robe.

He wears a long robe blue robe with underlayers of black. Both are lined with patterns embroidered in silver. His silver belt has some embellishments to it, and it is where he keeps his bag of holding and a few other pouches. Black boots adorn his feet. At a glance, one can infer he is a follower of Bo (the tattoo being the most obvious, but also the color scheme of his clothing).
Personality: Davian presents himself as laidback and easygoing, though he is full of inner turmoil. He was once a gentle soul and still prefers non-violence, but he can break bones with a friendly smile—though, he is always quick to apologize and mend whatever wounds have been caused once the fight is over (unless you’re a demon). Aside from the bandits (and the demons), he has never taken a life. A reincarnation of another, Davian is unsure how much of himself is his own or if all his thoughts and actions stem from his prior life. He tries to be the peacemaker of any group, though he’s afraid to truly care for anyone again.

Bio.:
Long ago, a young girl named Tahira rose up to be one of the strongest healers on all of Erodiel, called Tahira the Pure. Unable to have children, she adopted many. One of these was Isaac, who came from an abusive home as she once had. Tahira had no favorites among her children, but she and Isaac had a special bond. Some years later, Isaac was fatally wounded in a battle. Tahira tried a power she had never used before--resurrection--but she alone could not complete the task. Instead, Isaac fell into a cycle of reincarnation.

Davian is the latest reincarnation of Isaac. His family was killed by bandits when he was only four, and he was taken in by a nearby monastery and raised as a cleric. This was also the start of him having dreams of his previous lives, though he did not place these dreams for what they were until he was several years older. He kept this revelation to himself, though it changed everything he thought he knew about himself.

As a teen, Davian grew increasingly restless with monastery life, and so he began to journey out to the surrounding areas. As a part of this, he made his official vow as a cleric at the age of fourteen. Word of his skills as a healer spread, and he began to receive requests from further out. So, at sixteen, Davian left the monastery to become a traveling healer.

One day, Davian found himself summoned by bandits to heal their leader. He’d had plenty of run-ins with various bandits, he an especially easy target for them with his belief of Ahimsa, but he healed this leader without a second thought.

Several days later, these same bandits attacked the monastery Davian had grown up in and slaughtered all inside. Davian saw the aftermath of it all, and it changed him. He sought out the bandits and slaughtered every last one with the magic he had once used to heal. His vow of non-violence broken, Davian was stripped of his cleric status.

Davian joined a few adventurer groups after that only to find himself dissatisfied with each one—that was, until he met Abyss.

Abyss was a young woman who had been marked by Bo, the Lord of Time, from birth. She was a seer, and she was in the process of gathering a party, each member influenced by Bo in some way. Davian had his own connection, and he fit into the growing group quite naturally. It was only with Abyss he learned the fate of the world would soon be at stake.

--And soon enough it was, the demons appearing en masse shortly after Abyss’ party had gained its final member. Davian had full faith in Abyss and the god guiding them, but weeks of constant battles against demons wore at them until they were overwhelmed—and Davian was the only survivor.

Davian’s world crumbled in an instant, and he spent the next several weeks (after recovery) drifting from place to place more akin to a phantom than anything else. However, nowhere was truly safe, and he could not ignore the threat of the demons.

After four years of fighting on his own, Davian finally agreed to join the main resistance. He still did not wish to fight alongside anyone, but his focus quickly shifted from battle to research, it helped by the intel he had to share. He, along with others, were instrumental in opening the portal to Earth.

With the new allies from Earth, Davian found himself stepping back into his role as healer and warrior.

Abyss: Bo’s Chosen One, and the reluctant leader of the group. She seemed a happy but unassuming girl at a glance, but she secretly thought herself crazy and blamed herself for her parents’ deaths. What she later learned was that she was a seer—and all the later she discovered she had some time powers. Deceased.

Caleb: A giant of a man who wielded an axe. He was the strong, silent type, and he didn’t like to be bothered about anything. However, he had miraculously survived a battle years prior, and Bo told him it was time to pay up. Deceased.
Equipment: He carries no weapons.

Davian has a bag of holding, in which he keeps everything he owns. This includes healing supplies, a waterskin, a bedroll, some coin, a few changes of clothing, supplies for mediation, and supplies to help against demons.

Skills & Abilities: He knows the basics of hand-to-hand combat.

Healing magic (which he can also reverse to cause damage instead). His magical skill is partially derived from medical knowledge, and so he has a good idea of biology and how the non-magic side of the medical field works.

Physical Appearance: Pale and lithe, many people would suspect that Demi is either sickly or half-elven simply by laying eyes upon her. Anyone who knows even modest lore about vampires or necromancy would suspect her after spending more than a few minutes in her presence. As if to intentionally accentuate this fact, Demi wears the classical trifecta of black-red-silver for almost all of her clothing; which includes ostentatious flowing capes, corsets and similar.

Features: Like most vampires, it is impossible for Demi to have scars. Her eyes are too alluring, matching the color of blood frightfully perfectly and reports are inconsistent if she has vertical pupils.
Personality: Playful and optimistic for someone who dresses in such grim attire ~~and drinks blood~~, Demi is friendly but reclusive...how that is even possible is something that one just has to see to believe. It is often impossible to tell if Demi is joking, teasing or being completely serious in anything that she says. Her actions often do not carry the weight that one would expect of them and she seems to have no solid value of money or material wealth, in spite of being noble-born. She can be an ally and an enemy in the same breath which makes her something of a wildcard to those few who actually know her.
Knowing exactly who - or what - Demi is may be impossible without divination magic, because she is known to tell multiple different origin stories about herself and none of them are actually true. While she has good reason to do this, some people suspect that Demi simply enjoys causing chaos and finds lying fun, like some kind of game. Since the deeds of her mother, she refuses to feed upon demons or "tainted" creatures - so perhaps she is capable of some level of humanity after all?

Biography: A trio of young girls one day appeared at the gates to Westwood Keep, with no acclaim of their lineage nor sires. All looked so very thin and starving, struck by some terrible illness. The sight was so grim that even the reclusive Countess, Elizabeta, was moved nearly to tears and so she showed generosity and grace. The Countess took them in and raised them as her own. -- At least, this is what the legends say about the three pale girls who could occasionally be seen causing mischief in the nearby towns and taverns. The truth is more likely that the girls were her daughters as a result of the fancies she was known to have for passing Knights and rival nobles. The more grim version of the truth is that the young girls had no mere illness and did not leave the safety of their mother's keep to frolic in the towns: They had the curse of House Tepes and were out on the hunt.

Yet one night, not so long ago, Demi found an unnamed grave in the local cemetery. The sole marking upon its limestone surface was something that she recognized: It matched the silver clasp upon her cloak, a trinket that she held since she was merely a child. It lead her to a path of many questions: And at its end she found answers she could not accept. Her father that she never known was mortal man - a man who glimpsed upon the truth and had all his honor and life stripped away in response. Demi began to doubt her mother's true intentions and much of her upbringing. Were humans really so terrible? Was the world truly how her mother saw it? Or was she the monster? Then the demons came - and her mother joined them. That day, Demi left behind her life of luxury and moonlit towers. Her father had been right and it was in his world that she would now live...if she was even alive.

In a twisted sense of family politics, however, Elizabeta does not take Demi's rebellion as any kind of serious threat. An ancient creature, she sees her daughter as simply having a "rebellious phase" that she will one day snap out of - she thinks it is merely a matter of time before the mortals turn on Demi and send her running back home to make the "right" choice. Elizabeta has no problem waiting a decade or two for her prized daughter to return and join her now-demonic family once again; though clearly Demi doesn't see things this way. The classical phrase "This is who I am, mom. It's not a phase!" would probably apply.

Family:
Elizabeta Tepes, Mother - Immortal - The story of Elizabeta Tepes, second daughter of Vladistok Tepes, one of the first vampires has long since faded into myth and many believe that she, nor her father, were even real. However, there are more modern myths: Rumors that speak of a vampire clan that made pacts when the demons invaded. In exchange for loyalty to the destroyers of realms, for integration and servitude to whatever overlords the demons have, they were given demonic blood to feed upon. A terrible and twisted ritual that has turned these vampires into succubi-like creatures that now feast upon not mere the blood, but the very souls, of their victims ... all in service to the demons, who they are now indistinguishable from.

Nero Drakos, Father - Executed - A Knight of Irdonia and second-son of a once-powerful noble, Nero was placed into the service of House Tepes when they absorbed the Drakos family after political maneuvering. After nearly two decades in their service, Nero suddenly abandoned his charge and took up arms against his former lords. He spouted "madness" about forbidden truths and the wicked hearts of the "goodly lords of Westwood". He was labelled as a traitor and his rebellion swiftly crushed by Paladins and Righteous Knights of the crown, it is said that even some of the local people formed a militia to combat his band of lunatic rebels. That, however, was nearly 50 years ago...

Hekate & Phoebe, Sisters - Immortal - Demi may like her sisters slightly more than her mother; which isn't saying much. If the mythos of the succubi is to be believed then they are likely the most powerful among them.
Equipment:
Tails of Kerberos - These three silvered shortblades were said to been originally made for a Paladin that used them to banish restless souls back to the gates of hell, hence the name. As they are part of a singular enchanted set, the blades refuse to be split more than a few dozen meters from one another - and by mental command they can fly back to the hand which wielded them. By the limitations of such magic, however, the Tails of Kerberos do this always in the shortest possible route. Effectively this permits someone like Demi to throw them modest distances and recall them for infinite ammunition or to impale them into larger creatures, relocate and recall them through the creature - ripping it apart in grotesque and often-lethal display.

Noble's Attire - Demi wears clothing that would be considered common among lesser nobility: oiled leather armor, cloaks and a small number of rings and silver accessories. Her outfits have a large number of hidden pockets and pouches, which one would expect of a professional cutpurse and not a noble's daughter. Though some might argue that wearing leather pants makes her a bit boyish, they would likely retract that argument upon seeing her corset.

Skills & Abilities:
Shadowstep - Demi has an inherent magical ability to teleport short distances. This seems to be limited by her vampiric nature - it does not work in bright light, only in shadows. Exactly how far she can move with this magic seems limited to a dozen meters, though she can use it in rapid succession to move further, this can prove exhausting and still has limits. Demi is unable to translocate things larger than herself with this ability but seems able to bring along equipment or objects that she can reasonably carry on / about her person. This power also extends to such items: Demi can draw an object in her pocket out to her hand - or vice versa - without physical motion. Or at least, it seems that way...she might just be very good at sleight-of-hand.

Crimson Grace - Like most vampires, Demi is possessed of inhuman levels of physical ability in direct contrast to her stature. However, her powers extend only to swiftness and agility, not to strength nor intellect. Strangely this is not mentioned in any of the myths or legends about Vladistok Tepes and has caused great debate in the scholarly community about its origins. Was it some kind of pact with the demons that gave him such powers? Was it a dark god which chose not to spurn him like the others? No one really seems able to cite a truthful source but there are many accounts of it.

Supposedly true vampires can never die - even if totally destroyed they will be somehow returned to un-life to suffer again - at least according to the original legends. Most vampire hunters would say this is not very accurate. Not a full vampire, Demi is not actually immortal in any sense. She heals quickly from injuries but she would still be killed by things like beheading, immolation, etc. Loss of limbs can be healed if she enters torpor - a sort of sleep that she must willingly focus herself into for several days - and she becomes very thirsty upon waking.

Lightbane - Shunned from my light and from the world you once knew, shall you suffer in darkness for the rest of time. This tomb shall become your home and by mere the grace of the moon shall you walk the world at all. -- Or so says the myth of vampires. Only the most powerful - or weak - of vampires can withstand the touch of sunlight. Though Demi does not burst into flames or turn to stone, direct sunlight exposure is physically painful to her.

Crimson Thirst - No food, water nor wine will sustain you, nor your legacy; only the blood of the living will sate you. Like your soul you shall become, to haunt the night and reap what you cannot sew. Yet of nothing, even this, shall you find lasting satisfaction and be apart from your sins. -- Or so says the myth of vampires. In Demi's case, this is partially true: She must drink blood from a living person every few nights. As this is part of a curse, the presence of life is required; Demi can't be sustained by frozen blood or modern Earth's blood transfusion technology. Though she could drink the blood of non-humanoids, much more is required: It would kill anything smaller than a horse. From a person, however, she needs much less - roughly four-to-five cups.

Crimson Emptiness - From my sight, I cast you out and from your own shall you be banished evermore. -- Or so says the myth of vampires, once more. Many vampire hunters use mirrors, especially those made of silver, to detect their prey as they either cast no reflections or they are extremely distorted. Much like her other abilities, Demi inherits a limited form of this curse: While she does appear in normal mirrors, she does not appear in silver ones; which she has used as a strange way of telling if something is real silver. Though most people fail to notice it, Demi does not cast a shadow of any kind in the rare times she is directly exposed to light (her clothing and equipment still does).
Some vampires are known to have aversions to silver or blessed gold. Demi does not seem to exhibit this weakness, as most of her jewelry and accessories are silvered.

Demi often fakes adherence to the mythos of vampires for comedic effect, especially with Earth-born humans. She will ask to be invited in to rooms or doorways (that she is often already inside of), will pretend to obsessively count objects or act afraid of running water or holy symbols in extremely over-dramatic fashion.

Crimson Madness - A fully fledged vampire that does not feed enough is said to become like the original Vladivostok Tepes, a horrific and twisted beast that looked like a freakish crossbreed of men and bats. It would haunt the night, screeching into the minds of those it stared at in dreams and relentlessly feasting upon the blood of everything it crossed paths with. This mutation/degeneration is something which scholars debate but veteran vampire hunters will attest to it. Thankfully Demi is not cursed enough to mutate into a winged horror but she does suffer from a touch of this madness. Demi does not become enfeebled or exhausted when thirsty, instead she becomes aggressive and over-stimulated; like a starving wolf on Adderall.

He maintains a short haircut as per military standard, and also is usually seen sporting a 5 o'clock shadow, though he is usually clean-shaven when not on duty. His eyes are a pale green-blue and very piercing. As per attire his default in the field is the standard US Army Combat Uniform with a ballistic vest chest carrier, along with a FAST helmet, with nigh-vision goggles if the mission requires it.

Personality: Merrick has a reputation for being able to remain calm under absolute pressure, issuing orders with complete professionalism. Frequently stonefaced and no-nonsense, he will do whatever it takes to complete the mission, but will not perform needless sacrifices to achieve it. However, he is also stern but fair to those under him, which has also earned him a reputation for being quite fatherly. Having two young children has also helped this. When not on duty he is fairly personable, though he still maintains an air of professionalism at all times.

Bio.: Jonathan Merrick was born on the 18th of May 1989 in Chesapeake, Virginia to parents who were both active service members of the US military. His father was in the Army, and his mother in the Air Force, both of them officers and highly respected. As such, his career path was essentially set out for him the very moment he was born, and he wouldn't have had it any other way.

Growing up, his parents were often away due to their professions, and thus he spent much of his time being raised by his grandparents. His grandfather was a veteran of the Second World War and Korean War, and had served during the early years of the Vietnam War. He would often tell stories of his service to the young Merrick, and in turn these stories would go on to further inspire him to join the Army. When they had time with him his parents would similar educate him of their service.

When Merrick reached the minimum age of 17 in 2006, he enlisted in the US Army, and would spend the next few months in basic training, and in early 2007, he would see his first tour of duty in Afghanistan, during its growing insurgency. He would experience his first taste of combat later that year, and would go on to participate in multiple operations.

In 2010, Merrick was shortlisted for Delta Force recruitment based on the recommendations from his superiors, including his father, by then a colonel, and would undergo selection later that year. Passing the gruelling training that would on average see a washout rate of 90%, he would ultimately qualify and officially be inducted into its ranks as an operator. His first major operation would be in 2011, in which his unit was tasked to extract a high-value target in Afghanistan. The mission would be a success, although Merrick himself would sustain a non-fatal gunshot injury to his abdomen. He was awarded a Purple Heart for this.

By 2022 he had become a captain, having been deployed on numerous operations. He was in Syria on a mission hunting down the leader of the Islamic State terror group when the First Incursion occurred, and he received word that the United States was under attack by an unknown enemy, along with many other countries. His unit was urgently recalled back to the mainland US, and he was deployed on an emergency operation to evacuate civilians from Washington D.C., which was under the heaviest attack. These new enemies were unlike anything he had ever faced before, and nothing he had trained for either. Nevertheless, he quickly managed to adapt and fend off the demonic attacks, ultimately managing to close a small rift when he killed a leader.

After several days of heavy fighting the First Incursion finally ended with a victory for Earth, and yet with massive casualties and nations in chaos. He would fight in the following Incursions, participating in major UNERC operations such as Runestone and Lightning Spire. Eventually, he would be tasked to lead Team One of the newly-formed DAGR Task Force in preparation for Operation Last Judgement.

Bio: Born and raised in the UK to a British mother and Moroccan father, Veronica Amira Waincroft followed both of her parents footsteps and enlisted with the military once she was of age. Enjoying the adrenaline and camaraderie both, she found her place within the Royal Marines where she could push herself to be her very best and excel past her parents of which both had served in the British and Moroccan Army, respectively.

When the Rifts began to open Veronica and her unit were one of many sent to investigate. Having just passed commando training, she was transferred to the 30 Commando unit and would go on to serve as combat scouts both within the UK and abroad as the world mounted a defense against the demons.

Personality: Pieter is the last remaining member of his unit, due to the demonic invasions of the past. Their forces had low equipment and suffered from many scandals of bribery and corruption. When the enemy arrived they were not ready. To survive took his all, and he made it through. He is a man of resourcefulness, using whatever he cnanto stay alive. And even though he has lost so much, he strives to follow the principles he was taught in training. He seeks to show others what it meant to be a member of the South African National Defence Force, and goes beyond the call of duty at times. He believes his actions do credit to the memory of his unit, his family, and his country.

Bio.: It was a simple job to make money. A way to get back at his parents who wanted more for him. There was little sense of pride when Pieter joined the SANDF. Equipment was poor, vehicles were tough to come by. He was even thinking about dropping out during training. Yet his parents passed away in a tragic car accident. Drunk driver. In those dark moments, he had his fellow trainees to offer their support as his sister was overseas. It was enough to convince him to stay, and he took his training seriously.

When the demonic invasions started, they were not prepared. Leadership snapped like a twig, and most units were left to fend for themselves. South Africa turned not into a battle, but a fight for survival. Units did not fight to stand their ground, they fought to make their way out of the country. Wounded were left behind, ammunition was depleted swiftly. It was hell. Pieter's unit was able to hold themselves together though with their NCOs until they reached Saldanah Bay. It was the only area still somehwhat standing, and their port was the last chance to leave the country.

On the way their unit picked up many other survivors of civilians and other units. The impromptu force faced many obstacles to the port, with the the last of the unit deciding to stay behind and hold off the demonic forces the best they could to allow the civilians to escape. Only Pieter was able to survive, able to repair a boat with some civilians and extract.

He became a face in the crowd of many, as they move up the coast of Africa. Enemies became brothers in arms. Different cultures that clashed, worked together to survive. As Africa fell into chaos, Pieter was one of the few to escape. He used his training to fight for whoever would take him, and eventually one day he was recruited into the United Nations Extradimensional Response Coalition. He fights the rifts so that one day he can return to South Africa and help rebuild it.
