Welcome to the Wasteland
The Story/Plot It's been a little over a year since the first nuke dropped out of the sky and we all had been forced to head under the cold dirt and rock that once held a glorious city. We are slowly beginning to run out of supplies in our bunker and within the last few months, our captains have been letting people out of the bunkers to search for more, but none of the groups have come back yet.
We don't know what to expect out there. We're not sure if it's radiation that's killing them, animals, or other people, but we need food. We need water. So we keep sending people out, hoping that they will bring back something, any sign of hope.
Last week the captains made an order for a group of people to gather up and make plans to head out into the city. They chose random names from everyone aged 15-20, and it just turns out I was chosen along with a few others. I'm already all packed up, though it's not a lot, none of us have a lot anymore.
The captains are saying that they believe that maybe a larger group could have better results, but I believe they are just trying to get rid of us so that the people staying behind can have food for a few more days.
Honestly, I'm terrified. I don't want to die out there, but staying in the safety of the bunker is no longer an option.
Okay, so I wanted the setting to remind people a bit of both fallout and metro 2033, hopefully, it worked, if not both I hope at least one got through.
So, to explain a bit if someone didn't understand anything. Our characters are gonna be a group of chosen between the ages of 15 and 20 that will be leaving the bunker for the first time since the nuclear blasts that hit the city about a year and a half ago. Each character has known nothing but the struggle of trying to survive over this time and they are definitely not ready to be thrown out into the dangers of the wasteland.
As expected there will be many hardships that follow, not only with radiation but with the new creatures that have appeared over time and the struggle of finding food and water and even warmth at night.
Over time it'll be up to the group to decide if they want to keep helping the bunker with supplies or if they would rather leave the bunker's civilians to survive on their own and go adventure the wasteland on their own. This will be a later game decision that the group will have to make.
Setting InfoOur story takes place in and under the remains of Manhattan, New York. The year is 2183, only a year and a half after the nuclear blasts that devastated the city fell.
The areas outside of the underground complexes have become mostly radiation free, but some areas around the city somehow substance high levels of radiation. Many of the once sturdy buildings are now in ruin or look to be on the brink of collapsing. There are other underground bunkers to be found underneath the city, along with many goodies that could be found or traded for, but that doesn't go without mentioning the nightmares that hide in the darkness.
There are very few people that live above ground and the reason because of this will become very clear over a short period of time. At night it becomes almost deadly cold and the creatures that come out when the sun lower are less than friendly.
The bunkers are actually reinforced and sectioned off pieces of the subway stations that run along Manhattan. Most are completely blocked off to the rest of the subway since much of the subway had collapsed from the nuclear blasts, but most, if not all, have found a way to the surface.
Creature Info So, to make this interesting, I have creatures from all sorts of games, along with some custom creatures I've been dying to throw into a game for a while now. Most of them fall on the more realistic creatures and some will be given short stories on how they came to be where they are now.
I will be making a section full of the creature information when you encounter any of the strange critters outside the bunker.
What I Need From You 1. Obviously, follow all of rpnation's rules.
2. I want a post at least ONCE every THREE days. If something comes up, I understand let me know.
3. I want solid 3+ sentences per post. If you can write 5+ paragraphs go ahead, but please no one-liners.
4. You are free to post as many times as you want in a day, BUT, Please don't go back and forth with posts, wait until two people post before replying again.
5. If someone doesn't post in 24 hours, and you got a reply to your last post you may go ahead and post again. That's the only exception to the back and forth replying.
6. Please understand that this is a survival roleplay. I don't mind some silliness, but if you make constant stupid decisions that take away from the general survival and sometimes serious mood of the roleplay, I will kill your character. Of course, I will give you a warning or two beforehand, but try not to push your luck.
7. I am the type of person who will tag you every day if you do not get a reply out within the three-day limit or just drop without letting me know. If you want to drop or need a break from the roleplay I'm 110% fine with it, but please let me know. No one likes to be stuck waiting for a reply that will never happen.
8. Please be aware that you will have to be active in the OOC chat. (Or I might just make a separate chat for it instead). Because this is a survival roleplay, I want to add a way where we can figure out how much food rations, water, ammo for weapons, and how much radiation we all have. I don't want us to find food and suddenly we all have food for weeks on end because someone decided that they found 30 cans of soup.

Lastly, it's not required, but I would prefer if you write in 3rd person. It's not a huge issue if you write in 1st but if you do, please write your character's name at the top of each post.
Well, I hope this is interesting to a least a few people. I want to try to get at least 3, if not more interested then I'll make a character sheet along with everything else. If you have any questions feel free to ask
I hope to see you all out in the wasteland!
Here's the Character Sheet: Welcome to the Wasteland: Character Sheet
