I mentioned a while back the idea of being contracted by a weapons manufacturer to destroy bioweapons in a locked up, decaying research facility that were created with reverse engineered vrexul biotech. The problem being that these bioweapons were locked up for a reason and a vrexul militant group is there too for the same thing and it's clear the manufacturer might be doing this for reasons other than simply covering its tracks.

Sounds awesome and I was going to suggest something similar too - exploring abandoned ships floating in space after a big battle fought many years ago or exploring dead planets. I love going to all sorts of abandoned places and seeing their history, either in-game or IRL.
