I'm pretty sure I remember the books saying Hogwarts limits it to one pet a student, but she could tag team them or something. A capybara would certainly be...unorthodox, but interesting

Damn. I can sneak the snake in and bring the capybara as the pet.
Though taking care of it in school grounds would be really, really hard. Maybe it'll make friends with the merfolk and the giant squid. Next thing you know, this animal is making friends with everything.
