One Last Year

FungKu

A Magical Sprite
"I'm sorry, Ryu-san.. But there's nothing I can do." Those very words echoed inside Ryu's thoughts as he was drinking. He never thought that his perfect life would end like this. All the troubles the he had gone through, all the things the he has accomplished, they would all just go down the drain. Ryu picked up his mug and gulped down the last drops of his beer before ordering another one. He took out the receipt that he got from the doctor and tore it apart as if it was some kind of a trash. His refilled beer mug then arrived as he immediately gulped it down once again.

"Heresh.. my paysh.." he said as he groggily took out his wallet and the right amount of money to pay for the services of the food stand. He then slowly stood up from his sit as he started to wander off, not knowing where to go or where he would end up. Thinking of the fact that he has only one year to live made his eyes tear up. And most of all, he lived his life like a hermit. He ignored everyone to tried to make friends with him, he never loved anyone or had anyone loved him. He thought that he was some kind of a trash in the human society that only though about himself.

Realizing where he was, on a dark bridge where he could see nothing but the river and the moon on the side. He thought that since he has no more reason to live for anymore, that he should kill himself. Why does he even need to wait for one more year for his own inevitable death?

Ryu pulled himself up the railings and balanced himself by holding on one of the columns supporting the bridge. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes and thought, " This is the end.."

Aiko, was walking back from her job at the wellness center. It had been a long day and she still had to walk home from. Though she didn't really mind it, nice to get out and get some fresh air. After all that she had dealt with today. But it was a good day, the people that came in where on their way to a great new life. And that made her smile. It was a cold night, she pulled her jacket closer around her. Walking close to the bridge that was her way home, the water always made things cold. Walking along she hummed to her self, just enjoying the might light walk. Looking up she could see ever start in the sky. As she walked along the bridge she looked over, seeing a man up on the rails. "What in the world was that man doing up there?" As her mind went through what was going on before her. "No, he couldn't be doing that." Her mind spinning with a way to safe him. Running over to him. Her eyes wide with fear, as she looked up to the man. Dropping her bag to the ground. Her voice soft and gentle to him, "Please don't jump." She had to get him talking to her. "Why don't you come down here and we can talk to each other?" Her voice full of worry for the man before her.

Everything was going blank in his mind he never wanted this kind of life yet it felt like everything was already decided for him. He remembered his past were he would block himself away from everyone, especially his classmates and workmates. Thinking about he he never even tried to make a single friend almost made him cry. But tears were useless now, everything was too late and he could do nothing about it. He was alone to bare the sickness. When he finally made up his mind about ending his own life, he heard someone call out to him. A cute and soft voice that sounded just like a woman's. Ryu opened his eyes and turned over to where the voice was calling him and really did saw a woman out there. He was confused as to why she would mind in his business, of course she is a total stranger to him and she asked Ryu to come down and have a talk.

Ryu thought that talking for awhile would be better. After he would have some conversation with the girl, he would then carry on with his business on the bridge. He climbed down from the edge of the rail as he stood up looking away from here, a bit embarrassed to show his face. "W-what..is it..?" he asks her.

Relife washed through her as he came down off the railing. That was a good start. Walking over to him, something had to be really getting g to him for him wanting to put an end to his life. She knew the feeling all to well. And she would help him in anyway that she could. As she got closer to him, she noticed that he towered over her. Like most people did in her life. He long hair blowing out behind her. She tried to see his face. But he was hiding it from her. Her heart broke for him. No one should ashamed, even if they just tried to their own life.

Putting her hand softly on his arms, she smiled at him. "You looked like you could talk to someone right about now. I am willing to listen to you no matter how longs it takes." Looking around for a place to sit so they could talk with one another. There wasn't many places to sit down on a bridge. Spotting a bench not to far from them. Just off to the side of the bridge, right down my the river. "Why don't we go right over there and sit down," her voice soft and kind, as she smiles at him, "We can talk about anything you would like to." Taking his hand in her tiny one, she says "Come on it will be nice by the river."

[sorry late reply~ busy]

As the woman took his hand he couldn't help but blush. He coughed a bit towards her motion since he was not used to such a gesture from a woman. Well he never had a girlfriend after all and to have a woman suddenly hold his hand was only just sudden. She said that she was willing to listen and that made him even more confuse, Ryu wasn't sure why someone, a stranger would give any reason to listen to a man such as him. A man who never made any friends for his own selfish reason. And now that he thinks about it, maybe the sickness was just some kind of a punishment from the big man himself.

Ryu sighed and nodded agreeing to sit down by the bench as he followed her there. His curiosity got the best of him and he decided to ask her instead, " Why.. why are you even troubling yourself for a man such like me?" he asks her as he scratches the back of his head with his free hand. He wanted to know why, is it because she feels sorry for him or is it because it's from the goodness of her heart.

Aiko, smiled at him as she sat down on the bench. She wanted to help him all she could. Having been helped from her life, to be able to this for this man, was something that would help. Crossing her legs she looks at the man kindly. "The reason I do this for. Is because I want to." She smiles more and pats the bench next to her. "No matter your problem maybe. You shouldn't end you life." Playing with the bands on her arms. They hid away scars on her wrists. She tried to kill her self many times. But always keeping them hidden. For the judgment that came with them.

"And you looked like you could use someone to talk to right now. And here I am." Her voice soft. She really wanted to do this for him. Even if he didn't know it. Sometimes talking to someone can help when things look their darkest.
