Tombstone
That Damned Cowboy
Tidepool is a sleepy oceanside town. It's a close knit community that relies mostly on the wealth of natural resources in the area. There are many beaches. Fun times are sure to be had in the summer, but this town is too small and too far from anywhere to see many tourists. Everyone knows everyone in this town. Thus it is strange that there are two new and unfamiliar faces hanging around.
This first is the fisherman. He comes from a city far off. Life is on his mind. His path isn't going the way he intended, and what he intended wasn't all that it was cracked up to be in the first place. He takes a year. A year to get lost and find himself. To discover what he wants. Discover what he needs. With a pretense of catching the big one, he sets out to ponder life.
Then there is naiad, or mermaid as you could call them. Each is given one year to come of age on land, and decide if the sea is right for them. Most return to the sea quickly, as the world above is a much more demanding place and most certainly a world of man. This one is different. She never felt like she fit in. She wants to see the world, and find what might be best for her. She has dreamed of becoming a dryad for years, and now is her chance.
It is in this town that the two strangers meet, and begin to form an unlikely bond.
