Answered Old User Returning--very confused

So, I used to use this website a lot back in 2014-2015, then I sorta dwindled off of my usage and forgot about it for a while. Recently I got the urge to RP again, so I came back, and... it's basically a completely different site.


Which is fine, but it seems like things have gone backwards? RPs no longer have tabs? Theres no longer tags like detailed, casual, etc.? No BBCode? 


I'm super confused and I feel like I might be missing something, but I've looked all over and I cant seem to figure out why these changes were made or if theres newer/better alternatives that I'm just not seeing.

More changes are coming soon.  The site switched services back in August 2016 because of various issues, a major one being that old unsupported addons couldn't be removed (tabs was one of those addons).  The site will be switching back to its old software company because the addons are gone (because of the initial switch) and will be releasing a new version sometime soon.

So, in a few days the site will be changing again, though it probably won't the like it was circa 2014-2015.

Welcome back!  As Fyuri said, tags were lost because it was one of the unsupported addons that were breaking the site.  Then we switched software to try to improve things, which is where we are now, but the cons have now outweighed the pros and we're going back to the old software, albeit without all the addons we had before.


The Casual/Simple/Detailed prefixes were removed because they were leading to elitist RPers looking down on those they felt didn't meet their standards.  And GMs tend to describe the sort of writers they're looking for in the interest checks or in the first post of the RP anyway.

I am in the same predicament, but just to clarify, is the site going back to how it was around July of last year? I miss the tabs, I have no idea how/ where to find or post CS or an Rp in general... I miss Rp so much, but RpN was the only platform I really understood, and the only site I've found to have a variety of players, so I guess Im just asking: should I just sit back and be patient for a few days? Is it going back to the way it was, and if not will it at least be easier to navigate? I miss the old RpN so much, it gave birth to some of my best character growth SBS creation.

You can wait, it probably would be best to wait, 1x1 pm rp's are still the same so there's that

RPs go in each category by setting.  What would be tabs under the old system go into the subforum for its type.  So, if you're in a Fandom RP, the main, in-character thread goes under Fandom.  Character sheets go under Fandom Characters, and out-of-character goes under Fandom OOC.  All other pages go under Fandom Extra Pages.

We're recommending people put links to each of the different pages in the first post of each.  The character creation process itself should remain unchanged.  Everything was actually in separate threads before, it's just that the tabs addon provided essentially a quick link to each at the top of the page.

Ok. That's undersandable, I was on a site that dis the separate CS but no one linked the CS page, so it was very confusing.
