This Mess

Like some of the users I see floating about I, too, created this account last year around this time. I had created it in hopes of seeking out roleplayers that fit a certain criteria, and fell off to the wayside because I suppose I was intimidated by all of the rules and regulations and modifications.
Just some info regarding OP:
I'm 26 in a week, give or take a day or two.
I'm pretentious. Not really, but I have standards and I'm kind of "strict" about recruiting other players.
I play one to one. Last time I roleplayed in any group was when I was 17. Really weird experience.
I only ever rp by IM. I almost always prefer MxM.
You toss in a few other specifics and, needless to say things can become chaotic in terms of finding "the ones". What have your guys' experiences been like on this site? I see a lot of positive feedback so it does give me incentive to try again, but also knowing my own expectations can sometimes make it difficult to invest in new or fresh ventures.
Better expectations than none though, on my own behalf.
