Have You Seen the Headlines?

Hey Mila!

Up for a ghost hunt tonight? We're organizing a student group. You should come! We're gonna see if we can drag some newbies too. They're so easy to scare, haha! Don't forget to bring your camera! This will be so hilarious. Catch you later?

I attached a file of the ghost we're hunting!

[Disclosed] 22 November, 2010. Police last night ordered a stepped-up roundup of sex deviates in their search for missing 17-year-old Cassidy Thompson but admitted there "was
nothing tangible at all" to work on. The petite, brown-eyed HS Junior disappeared Thursday on her way to the school prom and the police agreed "she must have been kidnapped." She was last seen wearing a red dress. "The longer she's gone, the less chance there is that she's still alive," they said. A group of scouts joined the search yesterday, but failed to turn up a single tangible clue. The searching party was hampered by a heavy snowfall. But police said crank telephone calls from amateur detectives presented more of a hindrance than the adverse weather conditions.

One team of detectives spent several hours checking an anonymous woman tipster who said the girl was being held captive at one of several East Side addresses. Another crank told police the girl's body could be found near a downriver water tank. Rewards for information concerning the missing teen rose to
7,600$ yesterday. [Disclosed]

More than 1000 of the brown-haired girl's fellow pupils took time out from classes Friday to pray for her safe return. [Disclosed]

Jack Sanzimier was already freezing his butt off the moment he stepped foot outside. He clutched tightly at the lapel of his winter coat, if he could exactly call it that. The "coat" is a size too small with the sleeves ending inches before his wrist, so he had to roll it all the way up until his elbows to make it look decent. The sandy brown coat was a gift from his dad on his fifteenth birthday, it was the only gift he had ever received his entire life. And also the most useless. Nonetheless, Jack felt grateful for his dad because of the fact that he got him something despite their low income, and because he remembered his "birthday." "Well at least I have something to keep me warm," he said out loud to no one in particular. With only the wind and the sun to keep him company, Jack shoved his gloved hands into his pockets and trudged on to the campus.

"
Yep. I'm just not that cold y'know? I get used to things pretty quick." Flashing his winning smile, the dark- haired young man quickly grabbed the first edible thing he could find to avoid the cafeteria lady's unimpressed stare. The banana felt icy cold on his palm, making Jack nearly drop the fruit along with his dignity. "I'm going outside to eat actually. Cause y'know used to it." With a nervous chuckle, he headed towards the double doors.

Snow. It was the only reason he tried to convince his dad to leave their place and move to Massachusetts. He half expected for his father to refuse, but he agreed all the same. They don't have much to leave behind after all. The first few weeks were nice and good, he finally got to build a snowman as well as the "Largest Igloo/Fort Ever in the History of Mankind." But a dozen or so snowmen and flawed igloo/forts later, the chill finally got to his bones. Then and there he decided that if snow was a human being, it would be a woman. It looks nice, pretty and fun for a moment, but it can turn into a violent storm in an instant. "
And you can't do anything about it," his father added.

The banana was already making his fingers numb when Jack spotted an empty table, away from all the students. Nobody ever sat in this table, so he figured he could make it his. He had little to no interest in the school's social ladder. He finds it superficial and immature to join in with these childish games. He had been going to school wearing the same sneakers and jeans for weeks, while some students dress like they own the local mall. The stuff they talk about would mostly consist of who's having the latest party, or who's going out with who. This is why Jack's friends are the ones who don't "fit" in. They're easier to talk to, and they surprisingly know much more. Today's talk however, is different. Jack wished his friends were here, but of course they had to be at their classes working in advance to get everything done by Winter's Break. "
Pfft. Those workaholics," he whispered while peeling his banana. He was mildly amused that the banana was nowhere near bluish or reddish than he is despite the fact that it's almost solid from the chill. The talk from the Freshmen table reminded him about the girl who had gone missing and was found dead. He remembered seeing her around, but he never got to talk to her. Apparently, some kids had seen the body, and they're now talking about it at their lunch tables. Ah the manners and graces of the social climbers. The grisly description of the body wasn't what interested him, but the account of the old tale or ghost story that some people associated the murder with. "The Red Woman" they had called it. Whatever it is, he wanted to see this "woman" for himself before would commit to believe. Most likely a psycho used the story to divert people's attention.

--

Jack finally felt the first pangs of hunger as the newly peeled banana stared mockingly back at him. It seemed to enjoy the fact that he won't be able to eat it no matter how bad he wanted to. "
Fine, have it your way mister." He picked up the fruit and threw it at the back of a young man's head. By the look of his jacket, he seem to belong in the group of the Jocks. "Who threw that?!" The redhead shouted while holding the frozen banana. Jack found it amusing that the boy was waving the thing in the air. He was tempted to shout that it was the Red Woman and that he should not talk to his girlfriend that way. But that would only earn him two black eyes and a trip back to California. The latter seems welcoming, but he surely don't want to be a panda for a few weeks. "I saw it came from that direction!" He shouted while pointing to some table at random, hoping that something happens to this utterly boring day.
