About the town
The town of Eagle Pines is heavily inspired by the town of Julian, CA, but if said town were located further north in California, and thus more heavily forested.
The most common trees in Eagle Pines are, of course, pine trees. But sequoias and redwoods are the second most common. The town is situated heavily inland, and it's about a five hour drive to the nearest ocean, the Pacific Ocean. Eagle Pines is located on the northern edge of a nature reserve, and hosts an abandoned coal mine, making it a rather small tourist attraction as well as a historic location. There's a lake located within Eagle Pines State Park, the park that the town of Eagle Pines border
Town Center in Eagle Pines is host to a hardware store, a diner, a grocery mart, a vet clinic, a human medical clinic, a police station, a hotel, a singular church, and a primary and high school. Within Eagle Pines outskirts, there exists an apple orchard, and produce makes up a majority of Eagle Pines exports. "Downtown" Eagle Pines plays up the history landmark motif, and has almost every shop dressed up like an old western saloon or shop.
Outside of the Town Center, the roads are winding and narrow. It's not uncommon to have a somewhat long footpath up to your front door, or have a driveway so long it has its own street sign. Houses are very distance from each other, and due to the surprisingly low cost of living in Eagle Pines, are generally also rather big. It's two or so miles out till the nearest freeway, so there's rarely any road noise, anyways.
