O

Railyhn normally played mmorpgs, you know multiplayer online role play games. She decided that after conquering so many that she would try something outside of her comfort zone. Something challenging. To make a bit of extra money she signed up as a horror game beta tester. She rarely was afraid of things in game as it was the only place she felt powerful. In real life, Railyhn was a pushover, a little bit of a crybaby and always being taken advantage of.

She sighed as she peered at the building before her. She opened the door. Her acceptance letter in hand, she was stopped by a security guard. He nodds and she continues down the cold, stark white hallway til she reached a door. Standibg there were about 20 other people from different companies and countries. She sighed and stood in the empty space towards the middle. It seems she was the last one there. A man with slicked back blonde hair and dark eyes stood in a white pinstriped suit. "Welcome to Scatago Industries, leading company in technological development. I am Dr. Calvin Hedessca and today you will be beta testing a new game we developed. Everything you experience in game will send brainwaves to your body so that it is also affected by everything you experience in game."

From the floor, a head gear piece with wires rise from the ground along with chairs for them to sit in. "These two items will be used to indentify, adjust and transfer the brainwaves to your body." He motioned for them to sit down and put on the head gear. Once they were all ready, Calvin nodded. "Now remember this is a horror game. If things get to rough we will pull you out. That includes you having serious injuries. Rhere will always be a person watching for your safety. If there are no questions we can begin." Calvin was met with silence and he spoke one last time. "Enjoy, have a safe trip."

Just then their minds were all warped into the game. Heights. Weights. Chest sizes. This game was so invasive that at the end if all her data she was blushing, red as a tomato. They chose an outfit and weapon based on you and your preferences through a series of questions. Railyhn looked at herself as she was put in front of a house before sundown. She had on a grey-tshirt and black jeans with boots. She felt so awkward with short sleeves. As she got her bearings, she felt something cold on her back. Railyhn had collaspable bow staff. She sighed. At least she knew how to use it from other games. She walked towards the house. It must be a safe zone.

Finally, it's here. Virtual reality gaming, and he would be the one of the first persons to try it out. He went inside the building, unable to contain the excitement. The man, Dr. Calvin, explained to us how it works and all that. We sat on those chairs and the headgears were put in our heads.

And there he is, transported into the game. He can actually feel the surrounding, not just see them. He also looked the same way he did in real life, which is a plus. He is wearing a dark grey hoodie, black jeans and running shoes. In his hand was a magnificent staff, simple but he knew it had many features. He saw a girl in the distance, at least he thinks its a girl, and she headed into a house. Seeing no other things to do, he followed her inside.

The house was dark. She checked the walls for any light switches and none of them turned on. She sighed. This was not a good sign. It was a horror game after all. She walked around cautiously as she found another light switch. She flicked it and the lights came on. Just then Railyhn heard a noise coming from the door. She quickly put it together and stood in defense.

She moved from to the corner as she heard the sound of the door, creaking. She peered around the corner and saw a boy. He was very tall, a little over 6 feet. He had messy black hair and startling green eyes. He carried a staff as well. Looking at him closely, she recognized him from the room of other people put into the game. Not dropping her guard she approached him. "You were in the room with us. Who are you?" she said suspiciously. She couldn't be too cautious.

He was hoping not to be seen, to be able to observe quietly, but she saw him. He sighed, knowing it might turn into a fight if he was not careful. "I'm Jeremy, and yes, I was in the room at that time." He said, gripping his scythe. She was so short. Or maybe he was just tall. But she is cute, but still short. "How do we win this game? I didn't listen when the Doctor was talking."

Railyhn looked at him with narrow eyes. This was no competition but why would you sign up if you have no concept of how to when the game? "Are you serious?" She said angrily, "I hate gamers like you. Always gaming without reason. Just try not to die. Think of your own way to win." She scoffed and walked away. He was really tall. Nice eyes. She shook her head. Jeremy was an idiot.

H grinned at the girl, a malicious grin. "Why, do you think I'm the only one? Don't deny it, I kknow you're here to win as well. Don't give me that stuck up and noble attitude. In the end, I know you want to win." He said, smirking at this girl. She has a pretty face, but still too noble and goody two shoes for him, but still pretty. "Hope the enemies starts coming, it's gonna be boring without them."

"Sure I want to win." She said rolking her eyes. This guy was seriously grating on her nerves. "I juat think you shouldn't come in here stupid. Save that bs for first person shooters." She said irritably. I hope he is better at fighting than he is talking. He was just so annoying. "The enemies are probably outside. This house has working electricity. Its probably a safety zone at least to start with." Did this guy know anything about games?

He smirks at her. "If you think that's the case, then you're the fool." He said, his scythe in his hand. "This is a horror game, and nothing is what it seems. The safest place is the teeth or a bear trap, the bonfire lighting up the dark is the darkness that will consume you. Don't be so naive, if this was an adventure game, this is surely the safest place, but too bad we're not in an adventure game." He said to her, still smirking.

"Oh so you are not a complete imbecile then." She said rolling her eyes. Why was she stuck with guy like him. She scoffed. "That is true though," she said begrudgingly. He was right. This place was probably crawling with zombies or something. She grasped her bowstaff tighter as she walked further into the house and could hear creaking. 'Well thats not a good sign.' She thought to herself.

"Why thank you for that compliment filled reply." He said with a mocking grin, his voice laden with sarcasm. Why, of all people, was he stuck with her?! Oh come on, he's sure that there's more sensible person here than her, well, at least he hopes so. He followed that girl further into the house, his scythe ready in his hands. He heard creaking from the corridor up ahead, but he chose not to do a scooby doo and split up.

She rolled her eyes at his sarcasm. She didn't care that he disliked her. As she heard the creaking get louder, she gripped her weapon. They weren't alone. Horror games tended to have people run slower. She sighed. Judging by the house, her first instinct was that it was zombies. Or vampires. She heard a moan coming closer to her. "Zombies. I thought so." She said softly. She looked down at her weapon. It was insufficient against zombies. As she imagined an axe, her staff turned into an axe. Her eyes widened as the tutorial opened revealing a hologram of a woman with a ponytail. "Welcome to The Twisted Fates of Crimson Luck. This is a survival horror game. One of the firsts of its kind, and in virtual reality. Your weapon can change if you will it but you can only do thst once a day. This first time does not count however all uses afterwards will be penalized with once a day. You were broken down into groups of two based on personal preferences and skill. Lets all try to get along." As the hologram disappeared, a zombie lunged at her. She swung her axe, taking his head clear his shoulders. A group of zombies started approaching. She gripped her axe titghtly and looked over her shoulder. "Apparebtly we have to win as a pair. We don't have to like each other. Just win together. Thats finr by me." She got into fighting position.

He smirked at her. "And I thought I was the only one who wanted to win." He said to her, cutting a zombie in half. As is in most games, this would probably be the only reprieve they'll get. The game would get harder and harder, especially because this is a survival horror game. "Didn't get your name by the way." He said as he cut off the legs of a zombie.

"My name?" She said chopping the next zombie in half. "Railyhn, just call me Rai." The two of them however much they didn't care for each other work very well together. The two of them made quick work of the zombies. The hologram woman popped up. "Congratulations in finishing the warm up. Now that you understand the buttons you will now be transferred to the game. Continue?" Rai quirked an eyebrow as it gave her the yes or no option. She looked over at Jeremy. "Ready?"

"Cool name." He said, slicing up a zombie in half. "Dang, why couldn't I have a better name?" He thought. He liked his name well enough, but just finds it quite lame. "So that was warm ups? Can't wait to face the real challenge." He said, his voice half sarcastic. "Sure, ready as always." He said to Rai.

She scoffed. How could he be ready as always? Wht was always for him? Rai couldn't be bothered with his bs she just wanted to finish as quickly as possible. She just nodded and hit the yes button. They were transferred to a dark forest, they heard chainsaws in the background. Screams were being heard from a distance and Rai closed her eyes and shook her head. "It would seem we will need each other in the future so lets try to get along." She said begrudgingly.

They were transferred to yet again another cliched area, a dark and spooky forest, but even though it's overused, it still gives off a creepy vibe, the chainsaws in the distance only adding to the atmosphere. "Hey, do you think those screams are from other players or just prerecorded?" He asks her, looking at her in the eyes."Yeah, I'm up for that. So, do you have a plan?" He asks her, carefully observing their surrounding.

"Prerecorded sounds have a certain frequency they run on. I think its other pkayers but one thing is for sure. This is not a good spot. Lets head north." She pointed in the dark behind her. The holographic woman appeared again. "You will notice you both have bags. There are ten slots three are preequipped with a flashlight, a compass, and one set of batteries. You nee objective is to kill the baron." She disappeared and felt the slight weight on a messenger bag. She grimaced. What the hell was the baron? Vampire she figured.
