Fandom Number Hunters (OOC Chat)

Early into the manga Yami was practically an anti-hero bordering on complete psychopath. o-o Those shadow games were absolutely sadistic, looking back on a few of them in hindsight.

For real though. Those Shadow Games were messed up like no tomorrow. But they were really creative too. At least some of them were?

The manga authors really thought up some creative ones there, yeah. Also I find it quite hilarious how the entire first volume of the manga series doesn't have a single real yugioh duel in it.

Part of me kinda wishes they would have kept going down the path they were going, but if they did that, then maybe Yu-Gi-Oh wouldn't be as popular as it is today.
Yeah, it probably wouldn't have reached a wider audience. Although, if you watch the original japanese versions of the different yugioh anime series, specifically Arc-V, 5ds, and...well...sort of GX but not really all that much, there are actually more than a few seriously dark moments. In the dubs however, they are COMPLETELY taken out. Curse you localization teaaaaams!

I heard that 5D's got like super dark? As well as Arc-V with people literally getting murdered???

5ds gets REALLY dark. I'd dare to say Arc-V, despite starting off with a lighthearted tone, gets even DARKER and more...what's the word I'm looking for...screwed up is the best way I can put it I'd suppose.

Hilariously, both those shows jumped the shark at the end of the first third of the show. Some say 5D's got better and everyone says Arc-V never recovered, but I only agree with the latter of those two.

5D's was only really dark at the start despite what some people will claim and Arc-V never really let go of that optimism underneath it all. The darkest YGO series is still GX imo, because season 3 was such a massive shift in tone.

I could not disagree more, but I can't explain myself because gotta leave in 2 minutes

I thought with GX it was Season 4?

Number cards cannot be destroyed by normal means correct? Or monsters perhaps is better phrasing. Non Number monsters can't destroy number cards, but still could effect life points, right? While traps and spells could still have effect as usual unless number card specifically says otherwise?

Noob questions yes. I believe I read the first half somewhere but maybe not. Thinking JK's tactical style since he's not exactly a "power" duelist but more old school meets new, blending tactics and technique over pure power. He's got some powerful cards yes. But he's a slow pace, tactics before rush and power style. Which led me wanting to think over unconventional means of winning duels in present day with number cards, just because I feel it's a fitting trait to his tactics, slow pace style. But in case I'm wrong on some facts, thought I'd ask in case I don't receive info through other means. Also before any entry of such tactics were attempted in duels.

Thanks ahead of time for the time and potential answering to such basics of Zexal.

Dark stuff is like super great. But I dunno? I grew up with the dubs, so I tend to watch that over subs.

Well, tommorow I'd be willing to have a civil debate with you over our differing viewpoints on the matter, if you're up for it. I'd like to hear your side of things.

What? No. Viper appeared in S3 and the entire academy gets swallowed into a different dimension, and even after they get back Judai jumps right back in to save his new friend and turns evil. S3 was the lowest it ever got for GX in terms of darkness, hell, even the colouring was the darkest it's ever been.

Number cards can't be destroyed unless by another Number Card. They can be affected by traps and spells though.

Oooh.

Everyone always talked about Season 4 and 5 of GX sooo--

I'm fairly certain that their protection from destruction only applies to destruction from battle with non-number cards. I don't remember if it affects monster effects that would them, but I'm fairly certain that spells and traps would still destroy them. GRANTED I may be wrong here.

Ah good then I'm on the right track. Looking at some monsters on the number side, I see differences in monster power compared To Jk and Ty's respective decks but each have some alternate ways if such needs are drawn in time. Also just as I write out this duel with Brass, it's got my thoughts and ideas, curiosity of JK's style in a more in depth look. Got me quite intrigued in some odd/different ways of duel and character style and thinking. Idk how to explain exactly but that's a close example.

Ah cool! Thanks to you and Kit!

But yeah. If non-Number monster attacks, the Number won't be destroyed, but you'll still lose Life Points. Traps and spells still affect Number cards from what I've seen so far in my re-watching of Zexal.

But I mean we don't have to be 100% on point with Zexal and all its rules. Since not everyone really knows it in the RP for one and we don't wanna make this a total copy of the show. A few small tweaks here and there are okay, to make things different and interesting. This is just an RP after all.

But no problem friendo!
