Notification Woes

I had greatly hoped that the site update would finally resolve the unreliable nature of alerts. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case. Many times have posts, including posts I've either been quoted or tagged in, have failed to cause any form of notification to come up. More frustratingly, there have been many times that posts fail to come up in my activity streams leaving players wonder why their GM isn't answering their questions or making any moves to post.


While actually visiting the threads to check for updates naturally provides a workaround, it can be a nuisance when you're a member of multiple hosted projects.


Anyone else having this issue or have any thoughts? All of my threads are followed and notification settings are all checked to actually send an alert for posts.

As far as I'm aware, this is an iPB issue. I've seen it happen very often on another forum using iPB as well.

Have you checked your notification settings yet? Some of them default to sending you an email instead of an on-site alert, and you have to change them yourself.


I didn't see a mention of it in your post, sorry if you've already tried that. ^^

Well, I think alerts is something the admin team are working on. I'm not sure if there's anything to do at the moment except to wait.


It's unfortunate though, you'll just have to check your rps every once and awhile or ask your friends if anything's been posted. That's what I'm doing.

Make sure you set it to send you notifications for content you follow and then actually follow the content. Other wise if you've already done that it might fix it self when we upgrade the server in the future, we've been planning some resource updates.

No matter the forum software, we can never escape notification Woes .

I haven't had any issue really with notifications since adjusting my settings, but there is one particular issue I have.... I've set all the stuff to send me notifications, followed all my content that I want to keep updated with... but I get notifications for things that don't even involve me now. I'm getting notifications for when people I've followed post things in places that I am not part of... and when I go back and turn the setting off that sends me those notifications, I stop getting notifications when they post to the content I've actually followed. This issue has made me super confused on what to do or if there is a solution to fixing it or if there is some setting or item I missed that will allow me to get my correct notifications and not the items that I've no use for....

@Dethbycoffee, I would turn both of those notifications off, then turn any notifications that you want back on (like a hard reset) if you haven't tried this already.


For those of you who are still struggling with notifications, here are some images of my notifications settings.  They have been working perfectly fine for me.  If you're still struggling, try to do the hard reset, which I had suggested for Dethbycoffee.

It sounds like you're receiving alerts for people you're following, instead of (or in addition to) content you're following. Check your settings to see if this is the case? They should have separate notification settings.
