JAEHO — mastermind.
5:22AM—Jaeho leaned against the thin metal railing of the balcony, a gentle morning breeze ruffling the pink messy hairs on top of his head. One tap of his cigarette had ash floating down to the empty sidewalk below. He didn't smoke often but when he did he had reason to. In the two hours of sleep he had last night he dreamt of Heejun. Of all people. He couldn’t remember much, but he woke up with what felt like a hole in his chest. Of course his old friend’s betrayal didn’t sting as much as it used to as time had cauterized the wound, but sometimes like now he’d feel a phantom pang. He raised the cigarette to his lips and inhaled as he looked up to watch the sky turn peach with unfocused eyes. He allowed himself to stay like this for awhile, until the horizon turned baby blue, before pushing away from where he leant. He rolled his shoulders back after putting out his cigarette and re-entered his apartment, careful to not make too much noise as Yunhui was finally resting. It’d been another one of Yunhui's sleepless nights that seemed to happen more often than not. Knowing that he didn’t like to be alone, they’d spent the night in Jaeho’s bed as Jaeho shared his zany heist ideas, eyes bright and wild with excitement. Of course most of them would never come to be, it was just that Jaeho liked unfiltered brainstorming because it always led to a gem of an idea, but the wild process had Yunhui looking at him as if questioning his sanity.

After a long shower Jaeho put on a white button up shirt, tattoos peeking out from under the sleeves, a pair of black skinny jeans and a pair of dr. martens. He quickly downed a cup of coffee, leaving enough in the pot for Yunhui, before he left the apartment and headed over to LatteWorld. Said coffeehouse was originally an idea Jaeho hadn't imagined would take off as far and as fast but it had. He supposed with an attractive staff, extensive coffee menu and a delicious variety of soups, sandwiches and treats they attracted quite the crowd. It was overwhelming at times, especially around noon their peak time, but he wasn’t complaining. It at least gave him two streams of income; one stable and legal and the other, well, riskier in every sense of the word. Jaeho entered the cafe and locked the door behind him to discourage customers from coming in before official open hours. If the other employees needed to come in they knew to come through the back.

There still was about an hour left until LatteWorld opened at 10:30AM. Jaeho set to work on his regular routine starting with checking the register and going on to check stock, preparing the display in the pastries cases among other things he considered boring but necessary. Along the way he noticed that there were a few surfaces in the eating area that needed to be cleaned, but he’d leave that up to whoever came in after him. For now, he wanted to get a head start on the emails he knew he'd received since yesterday. He headed in to the back office, opened his laptop and was not surprised to find 30 new unread emails. All of them inquiring for catering. However, one of the subject lines caught his eye: ‘Launch party for Gae Jewelry’. Immediately his eyebrows flew up in intrigue. Gae Jewelry sold luxury goods and were known for their timeless jewelry designs. He opened it, eyes skimming the message. It was from Song Nara. She was the fiancee of the CEO, Kim Wooyeon, and was personally requesting LatteWorld's services to cater their launch party event, having apparently heard nothing but good reviews from word of mouth. The email didn’t say what it was they’d be launching, most likely purposefully, but Jaeho knew that it’d be worth a lot. Especially if he and the crew managed to snatch the jewelry and sell it in to the black market before the collection hit the stores. Ms. Song stressed that she needed their services by the end of the week since her previous catering company bailed last minute. It was definitely short notice, but in Jaeho's opinion the reward outweighed any inconvenience. He'd just need to come up with a quick but foolproof strategy after a little bit of research, which meant he'd need to contact his go-to hacker, Do Jinyoung. He typed back an acceptance and sent it. Looked like he had some hot spiced tea to share with everyone today.

He returned to the front of cafe and began his next project of pouring coffee and tea samples into little cups. He had three flavors he’d been working on for a while: dulce de leche coffee, mint vanilla coffee and thai honey milk tea. He'd been going around asking the others to taste test it, tweaking it until it was just right, and now he wanted a customer's opinion. He’d probably pick on the new kid and have him stand outside and give out the samples to potential customers walking by. Jaeho typically gave him tasks that were either too easy to mess up and/or kept him out of the way (especially out of Yunhui's way). He honestly didn’t care for Youngha and cursed the fact that they managed to get caught by him. He had no idea why he chose to stick around. He truly was useless to Jaeho and the crew...besides the connections he could provide he supposed. As Jaeho continued pouring the samples he heard someone enter from the back, but didn't bother looking up as he was currently busy. “Hey can you start cleaning off the tables. Whoever did it last night did a shit job.” He told them, refraining from informing them that he'd found their next heist adventure. He'd wait for the whole crew to come shuffling in and organize a meeting during their down time.

Nights like this were common for Yunhui, woken up by nightmares of Ji screaming his name, blaming him for her death. This resulted in him only getting a few hours of sleep, and finding himself in Jaeho's bed as usual. It wasn't out of place for him to go to the mans bedroom after these nightmares, he didn't want comfort but he didn't want to be alone and he knew Jaeho was practically nocturnal.

So, the two did what they normally did. Jaeho proposed crazy ideas and schemes and Yunhui just stared at him like he was crazy and then they would fall in silence eventually until one of the two fell asleep. Which ended up being Yunhui this time, saying goodnight to Jaeho and heading back to his room to get some sleep. He slept peacefully for three hours until his alarm rang, signaling for him to get up and get to work. He climbed out of bed, slipping on his rings and then trudged to the bathroom. He brushed his teeth, showered and changed into his clothes, a white shirt, black ripped skinny jeans, his converse and then headed into the kitchen. He grabbed a banana from the fruit bowl on the table and headed for the coffee in the pot. If one got up before the other this was usually how it went, leaving coffee for the other to find.

He grabbed his keys, wallet and phone before heading out of the apartment and towards LatteWorld. He walked slowly, praying somebody would be there before him because he had been the one closing last night who had half assed the cleaning and he really didn't want to clean this morning. He entered through the back, making sure to fill the water and food bowls Jaeho had laid out for the strays in the alleys, before entering the front of the cafe.

As Jaeho spoke, Yunhui sighed quietly. "Yes, sir." He saluted him teasingly and walked to the back, grabbing a rag and cleaner before heading out to the tables. He wiped them down, humming to himself. He finished wiping down the tables and headed to the back, plugging his phone into the speaker and playing a work playlist they could play in the cafe. He turned it down so it was just small background noise and headed back to the front, hopping up onto the front counter and swinging his legs as he waited for the others to arrive.

Yunhui hopped off the counter, going to see what Jaeho was doing, purposely leaning on him from behind, peering over his shoulder at the samples. "Oh, you're putting those out." He mused, leaning forward to sniff them, wrinkling his nose at the strong scent and moving back. He squinted at the signs for the foods, reading each one carefully so he was sure he wouldn't mess up a name later that day. He perked up as he heard the door open, glancing back at it to see who it was.

Soo Min Yeong
how many carats is that?

Minyeong woke to a loud shattering noise. He quickly rose out of bed and dashed toward the origins of the sound. It was the kitchen, there stood his mother, Inhwa, and her "boyfriend" Junghoon. He was standing at her side, berating her right in her ear as if she had a hearing impairment. She didn't. Her hearing was perfectly fine. The mother stood still over the mess of the bowl that she dropped, some of its remnants spread out over her feet as she took his words like they were nothing. She had no reaction to them, the woman just stood still staring down at the plate as if she was just waiting for him to leave, as if she didn't even hear him.
"Yah! Shut up old man, you're just in her way!" Minyeong shouted, which caught Junghoon off guard. He glared at the son and stepped toward him. "Little boy, I told you not to talk to me like that! Who do you think you are? You don't pay the fucking bills!"
"What are you gonna do? You hit me and there will be no one left to love you, you bitter, ugly old-"
"Minnie! Stop it now!" his mother interrupted. He sucked his teeth. The two men passed each other, the conversation was over.

"Mommy, I'm going to latteworld." He reached for a hug as he spoke, but Inhwa only gave her son a shallow embrace. "Stop talking back to that man. You know I don't like it. You're not helping, you never help, Minnie."
"Whatever," he let go of his mother and went back to his room to get ready for work.

The son showered, brushed his teeth, and commenced with his morning routine which consisted of skincare and make up. Minyeong went inside his room to pick out his outfit for the day. He grabbed a supreme shirt, black jeans, a gucci belt which was more for decoration than function, and a denim jacket embroidered with cute patches to top it off. Once he was ready, Minyeong left the house without another word. He didn't live far from the cafe, it was about a ten-minute walk away. The first thing he saw when he stepped in through the back was Yunhui's mullet, and then his face popping up to check who he was. Minyeong's face brightened immediately. "Good morning, hyungs~" he beamed, immediately making his way over to Yunhui. The boy stood in front of him, pulling his head back to see Yunhui’s face. "You look tired hyung, you didn't sleep well?" Minyeong noticed that Jaeho had been setting up samples behind Yunhui. To get a better look, he lifted one of Yunhui's arms and hung it around his shoulders as the man responded to him. "Oh! You're putting out the new tea? I really like the turshi delushi," he pointed. Dulce De Leche was Minyeong's favorite new flavor, but he could never grasp the pronunciation. "Which one do you like, Yunhui, hyung?"

The first few chords of a piano ballad eased Chorong awake, the notes plinking through her otherwise silent bedroom. A sweet male voice began to croon along until she turned off her alarm and the music cut off. Pale light from the rising sun crept through the blinds, and distant birdsong replaced the silence.

"Ahhhhh~!" The young woman buried underneath the blankets groaned. Joints cracked as she stood up, touched her toes, and stretched her arms. Chorong put on her morning playlist and danced into the bathroom to the tune of the pop song that was currently topping the charts. She threw finger guns at the mirror and swayed her hips to the chorus as she brushed her teeth and combed her hair. Occasionally she would look around and stop dancing, only to resume again a moment later. She lived alone, after all; there was no one to judge her. Still, the habit of assessing her surroundings was too ingrained for her to fully relax even in the seclusion of her home.

Chorong put on a gingham dress with ribbon straps that tied over her shoulders, frilly white socks that peeked over her black ankle boots, a straw boater hat, and her leather purse. She slipped on some expensive sunglasses that an old "friend" had gifted her as a final touch and flounced out the door in a whirl of red hair and checked cloth. She was often at the cafe even before Jaeho (usually if she opened, he'd let her leave early), but she had some errands to run. She was the first customer at the tea shop down the street as always and, bubble tea in hand, spent the rest of her morning greeting the passerby, renewing her gym membership, and most importantly, turning in her library books.

By the time she arrived at LatteWorld, there was still a half hour until opening. One of the strays had its head shoved into a food bowl beside the back door. It was a big gray tomcat with a smushed-in face that reminded her of one of their regulars, a grumpy office worker - so naturally, she had named this particular stray after the man. "Shoo, Jongsu! Leave some for the others!" Jongsu meowed reproachfully and stalked off. Chorong tsked and slid her sunglasses into her purse as she pushed through the door.

"Oppaaa~" she sing-songed, her voice high and sugary sweet. That was the only warning she gave before she plopped her head down on Jaeho's shoulder, something she did a lot despite the man being barely taller than her. The movement jostled his arm and almost made him spill the drinks he was pouring. "Ah, sorry Jae." Chorong patted his arm and then proceeded to down a sample cup of the thai tea like she was knocking back a shot. "Wahhh," she sighed, smacking her lips, "the customers are going to love them. Let's give it to Youngha to pass out when he gets here, yeah? If he gets an attitude about it, I'll put him back in line." Her tone remained light and playful, but for anyone who knew her well enough, the subtle threat was clear. She smiled at Minyeong, who was surely close enough to have overheard and who did his best to make sure his new bestie wouldn't get murdered hurt.

Chorong ruffled Yunhui's hair and pinched his cheek, saying "Good morning my little yeehaw," as a greeting before shuffling around the pair to check the recordbook sitting by the register.

Youngha

It was later than usual when Youngha woke up; he had the day off yesterday and he opted to go to some club with his friends, staying out a bit late as a result. He doesn't really get as many as hours as he would like, especially since getting cut off from his parents money outside of his tuition and other college expenses. He's had to learn how to budget and, unfortunately, because he's never grown out of his taste for designer brands, he isn't very good at it. He pretty much collapsed on his bed in the uncomfortable leather he wore to the club last night and, not particularly concerned with getting to work on time, took a while to find a new outfit, getting showered and changed and ready before he headed out the door.

His outfit wasn't anything out of the ordinary for him: a black denim jacket, black ripped jeans, white Supreme t-shirt, black vans. He arrived at the cafe, coming in through the back like usual, ignoring the fact that the rest of the bowl for the strays were empty because he didn't know where they kept the cat food and was a bit tentative to ask anyone.

"Good morning!" He chimed, walking over and immediately spotting Minyeong. "Hey! We're matching!" He laughed, standing at a cautious distance from Yunhui whom Minyeong was currently latched on. Their outfits were basically the same, except Youngha didn't choose to wear his Gucci belt today. He eyed the little cups that held the various flavors of coffee and tea that Jaeho was setting up. He had half a mind to reach over and grab one and, his hand acting before his mind, he in fact did, knocking over one of the dulce de leche flavors and grabbing a mint vanilla one.

"Oh, sorry, I'll get that cleaned up for you." His customer service voice activated for just a second, and he took a sip of the one he got. "The mint vanilla's pretty good, but I think the mint's a bit too strong." He threw the now empty cup in the trash and went in the back to get the cleaning spray and a rag.

“YEAH YOU TOO.” A tight-lipped smile etches itself upon her lips, while she waves at a former friend of the name Hyejung—her figure slowly disappearing into the sea of people, leaving Eunha to dwell in her thoughts about what just happened by her lonesome.

Meeting up with someone you use to cherish to the ends of the Earth and more should usually cause an uproar of emotions, consisting of nostalgia, happiness, and hope. Yet, Eunha felt none of that and instead felt something far more complicated. Her canvas that normally bled the colors of pink, blue, and yellow, now bled something more dark—void of all the bright colors, her canvas was now stained with dark green; jealousy.

During their meetup, Eunha had the pleasure to hear of Hyejung’s life and how she’d grew from her past since she was apart of the group Eunha use to fool around with back in High School; the one who awakened her rebellious side. She’d told Eunha of her new job, new apartment, new friends and overall new life, which Eunha was happy about, yet something in the back of her head was just gnawing at her.

Perhaps, Eunha was jealous of the fact that Hyejung was living a normal life. A life without crime and the fear of having your life thrown away because of a careless mistake that caused you to be thrown in jail—a life where your main income isn’t from illegal activities, but instead was a normal job.

But, is it wrong for a small part of Eunha, to wish for a simpler life?

Deep down though, Eunha knows she wouldn’t trade her life for something mundane—she’s grown too accustomed to life on the other side to the point she doesn’t know anything else, and doesn’t believe she’d be able to give it all up as it’s embedded itself into her veins, as if it’s some sort of addiction. Plus she cherishes the memories she’s created with the members too much, along with the members who’ve become her small family to just give it all up for a life that couldn’t possibly provide as much happiness as her current one does. But, maybe she’s just being selfish to still have a small part of her wish for something else when everything she dreamed for is right in front of her..

Casting a glance at the time on her phone, Eunha decides to head off to Latteworld—hoping the sight of a few particular faces could help brighten her mood. Pocketing her phone, she’s quick to head off.

——

Noting that she arrived a bit more later than usual—however still on time, Eunha is quick to make her way inside through the back, while making sure to greet the stray cats that frequented the establishment. Closing the door behind her, Eunha finds herself greeted with the sight of Youngha who seemed to be grabbing cleaning supplies. “Morning.” Smiling, she headed to where most of the others were, hearing their distinct voices and low playing music becoming louder as she grew closer to where they resided.

“Good morning everyone! How were all of our mornings today?” Grinning, Eunha does a quick scan of the room—taking her own attendance of the coffee crew and notices that they were missing Daejung who seemed to be quick to get them to where they needed to be, yet was lacking to do the same for himself. “Anybody have trouble getting out of bed?”

Already sweating in the steam of his shower, Daejung scrubs the grease from his hands. His palms burning, but whether that was from the heat of the water or the loofah pressing to his skin, he was unsure. Letting out a soft sigh he closes his eyes, letting the water beat onto his eyelids. He’d been woken early by his neighbours, their shouting beating the air as a plate had hurled to their shared wall, Daejung waking in a cold sweat, suddenly feeling small in his bed, his ears ringing with an echo of his parents. It had taken him a few moments to remember where he was, his dark eyes glancing cautiously around his room as the shouting suddenly goes silent. But as soon as he'd closed his eyes, it had started again, worse than before.

So struggling to fall asleep he’d pulled himself from his bed, stretching and scrunching his toes into the shaggy rug beside the bed before pulling a shirt and jacket on and heading outside. The walk to his makeshift garage hadn't taken long. And once inside he’d quickly warmed up. Lying beneath the cars, he feels comforted by the weight on his chest as he exhales, the sweat on his cheeks a calming as he forgets about his neighbours argument. Often he came here when he couldn't sleep, there was something about the silence his shop gave, it made him forget about the noise. It wasn't until the sun began to fight against the fluroscent strips that he left his shop, dark eyes squinting in the sunlight, his head bobbing to the music in his headphones as he thinks excitedly of the shower that awaits him.

Somewhere in his apartment his alarm clock rings, the shrill tone audible even over the rattle of his boiler. Groaning as he turns off his water, cussing to himself as the cold air hits his body, eager to warm himself up he grabs a towel, drying himself off and wrapping it around himself like a dress and walking from his bathroom into the rest of his apartment, eyeing the open window as he walks behind his divider.

Whilst his apartment was a studio, with very little space for what he kept, he adored it. It was dark, cramped, and the smell of damp couldn't be removed no matter how many candles he burnt. Yet it was his home, and no other four walls felt safer. Plus it had the added bonus of being able to reach the fridge from the sofa.

His height added a smaller issue to the lack of privacy the room gave, his eyes peeking over the divider as he yanks his blue jeans off the divider, quickly tugging them on and pairing them with the white shirt he wore only for work. Smoothing out his chest and tucking the ends loosely into his jeans before rolling the sleeves to his elbows, not bothering to check his appearance in the mirror barely even a foot behind him. Instead he hops over to the fridge, grabbing a box of leftover takeout from the fridge whilst simultaneously pulling his shoes on. Dashing from his door and following the hundreds of stairs down onto the streets, the morning sun struggling to reach through the tall buildings as he follows the familiar concrete path to a gated alley where his car sat.

Burning in a glorious red, even in the shadows he’d parked it, the colour seemed to reflect the lust burning in the eyes of an affair, and it gave him a sense of pride to see himself almost reflected in the paint. He had restored her himself, from scrap left to die to her new current glory. Yet despite his pride and his strict rule about people leaving litter in his car, it didn't stop his own clutter from invading the interior. Cassette tapes taking over the passenger seat, pens scattered the floor, and his portfolio along with his apron were almost permanently strewn on the back seats, just in case. Climbing in, he balances the food on his lap, switching the tape in the player to one labelled 'late’, tossing the other to the seat.

Munching his food as and waiting for the beat to drop before pulling out from the alley. Speeding through the backstreets with a knowledge gained only through months of trial and error, eating with his free hand whilst singing poorly in-between mouthfuls.

Parking closer to the back entrance of Latteworld, Daejung turning and reaching to the backseats, letting out a soft groan as he pulls the apron from its corner and pulling it over his head, quickly grabbing the empty food box before climbing out and walking briskly towards the back entrance, dumping the box in one of the bins, squatting down next to the cats gathered by their bowls.“Hello” He whispers softly, evenly distributing the scratches as he speaks “I hate to break it to you. I didn't bring my treats” he gives a mock gasp to the cats, shaking his head as he stands up and dusts his hands off, “I'll make sure to bring extra tomorrow.” He promises them with a solemn nod before heading inside, giving the door a small shake to make sure it's locked behind him.

As people started to flood into the room, Yunhui would greet them with small nods and smiles but didn't say anything, turning back to watching Jaeho. "Morning Minyoung." He greeted without even looking up from the samples. He helped situate them and then finally turned to his younger friend. "Good morning, kid." He teased, letting his arm rest around him. "I slept fine." He waved him off, "Me and Jaeho were just hanging out." He assured him, smiling down at him.

"My favorite? Hm.. Probably the mint one. I love how strong the mint flavoring is." He hummed in thought as his eyes scanned the samples. His eyes lit up as he glanced at the door, seeing Chorong walk in. She spoke to Jaeho, nearly making him spill his drinks and Yunhui chuckled at the exchange. As she moved over to him and pinched his cheeks, he automatically pouted. "Noona, stop calling me yeehaw! This is very trendy these days." He huffed quietly, crossing his arms over his chest looking like a child who had been scolded.

Before he could continue, another person walked in and he spun around, hoping it would be Eunha or Dae Jung, but of course it wasn't. His smile fell as he saw Youngha, and he just turned away, looking back at Minyoung. He tried to be somewhat "nice" towards Youngha since that was Minyoungs best friend, but he still refused to trust him no matter how many times he had been told he could be. When Youngha spoke about it being too strong, Yunhui just rolled his eyes and gently moved Minyoungs arm so he could go stand with Chorong, purposely leaning against her, his head on top of hers.

"Eunha!" He greeted once he spotted her, his smile growing once again. He didn't move from leaning against Chorong, but he waved excitedly in her direction. He finally got off Chorong, not wanting to get hit, quickly running over to Eunha and wrapping an arm around her. "Jaeho has new samples out." He motioned towards the group, glancing at the door as Daejung entered.

"Hey Daejung!" He called out, waving towards the male. "We're all here." He spoke up, his smile finally dropping as he glanced around the cafe. "Now I have to work." He grumbled quietly, moving away from Eunha to grab the cleaning supplies from Youngha, not even glancing at him as he took them and headed over to a few tables, making sure they were clean before the cafe would be opened.

how many carats is that?

As Yunhui spoke, Minyeong just smiled up at him with that dreamy expression plastered across his face. "Hello noona~" he greeted cutely when Chorong gave him a smile. He was used to overhearing threats toward Youngha and getting looks immediately after. Everyone at Latteworld knew that Minyeong was the only one close to that rich boy, even Minyeong himself, so he ended up taking on the responsibility of making sure Youngha wouldn't rub any of their coworkers the wrong way and get his ass kicked as a result. Another employee walked in after her and the boy turned to see the man himself almost as if he had been summoned by Chorong's words. "Hey!! We really are matching! We look good hyung!" he laughed cheerfully. Yunhui detached himself from Minyeong when Youngha approached, which left the youngest free to go properly greet his friend with a hug before the man ended up spilling over the samples.
The rest of the employees piled in. Soon enough, the gang was all here. "Oh, yah! We all got here at the same time!" Minyeong giggled as Daejung entered. There was another sight, Daejung. The way he towered over everything so majestically made Minyeong's heart flutter. He loved seeing Daejung and Yunhui together, they were like the handsome twin towers of Latteworld. That was always his gimmick to attract business, saying "Come see our handsome twin towers!" to girls and women. The boy greeted Eunha with a cute smile and a "Good morning."
He noticed Yunhui taking the cleaning supplies away from Youngha, who had grabbed them to clean up the mess he made. "Ah, hyung, there's more over here," he beckoned to Youngha, leading him to a cabinet with rags and cleaning spray. He pulled out one of each and lead Youngha over to his mess, moving away the samples that were still intact and handing Youngha the cleaners. "I'll repour the rest, bossman~" he said to Jaeho with a bit of aegyo in order to let the man get to his more important and boss-like duties. "Youngie-hyungie, they want you to take the samples out to give to the customers when we open."
A lot of Minyeong's time working was spent almost babysitting Youngha, making sure the man did what was expected of him without causing too much trouble to everyone else, tailing him to help clean up his mistakes in time before anyone else got involved, sometimes being the middle man between Youngha and the other employees when they were displeased with him or wanted him to do something. He didn't mind though. Minyeong saw the newcomer as a good asset to the whole group operation no matter the circumstance of how he became involved with them. Since the two just happened to click and get along so well, it made it easy for them to grow close. Through this he learned that Youngha wasn't as much of a threat as he would like to make himself seem. Since Minyeong enjoyed Youngha's presence, he was okay with the responsibility that seemed to be unanimously entrusted to him. He knew it kept the workplace a lot more peaceful than if otherwise, and it was good because Minyeong and Youngha could still enjoy their time at work spending lots of time together.

JAEHO — mastermind.
Jaeho briefly glanced over his shoulder to flash Yunhui a grateful nod, the tables were a sticky mess that desperately needed to be clean by someone, before he returned his attention back to the tedious task at hand. So far he had 50 sample cups filled. Just 250 more to go. He took a break to get the trays the cups would be placed on, realizing that he forgot to do so. As he carefully transferred the full cups to the trays, a shadow casted over the counter and he felt a body lean on his. For someone so tall, Yunhui was fairly light. Jaeho recalled that being one of the first things he'd noticed when a few years ago he'd stumbled across the unconscious younger male in the alleyway. With no one around he had to carry the boy himself and what he thought would be an arduous journey back to the cafe had actually been easy, concerningly so. He'd since put on some healthy weight, but Jaeho still was amazed with how thin Yunhui managed to remain. He supposed that just aided his agility.

“Mm,” He sighed out a reply to the younger male. “I wanted to add something new to the menu and attract more customers.” Business was going as swell as usual, but there was always room for improvement in Jaeho's opinion. As discussed with Eunha, adding new flavors every so often especially limited edition ones could help build hype with their younger more adventurous customers. Jaeho looked up as they were joined by a chipper Minyeong. “Morning.” Jaeho murmured back. “Turshi delushi?” He chuckled. "I like that one too."

Jaeho heard Chorong's entrance before he saw her, or rather felt her, as she leant her head on him and moved his pouring arm in the process. He hissed, but there was no real heat behind the sound. "Hey watch that big head of yours." He bit out playfully, pleased to hear that she liked the flavor of the thai tea and thought that the customers would too. "Sounds good to me. Should be an easy enough job for him." He agreed, lips quirked at her promise of knocking Youngha back in line, knowing that she was fully capable of doing so. Speak of the devil, Youngha arrived next and Jaeho gave him a half-assed greeting as he focused on finishing the samples. The clock was ticking, they'd be opening soon and he was only half way done. He was making good progress when Youngha's hand, he could tell by how pretty, never-worked-a-day-in-its-life it looked, invaded his space and knocked a cup over. He sucked air through his teeth in frustration as the dulce de leche formed a brown puddle across the counter as the kid reached for a mint vanilla to taste. “Mint’s too strong? It’s supposed to be to be a refreshing contrast with the sweet of the vanilla and the bitterness of the coffee.” He gave Youngha a flat look when he promised to clean it up, knowing for a fact that he couldn't clean well. "That's alright. It's just a small spill I've got it." He waved the kid off just as Yunhui snatched the cleaning supplies away from him. However Minyeong took it upon himself to redirect Youngha to the other cleaning supplies. Jaeho wouldn’t say anything as long as Minyeoung oversaw his friend. He just wasn't thorough enough to meet Jaeho's cleaning standards.

"That would help a lot." Jaeho appreciated Minyeong's offer, a hint of a smile on his lips at Minyeoung’s display of aegyo. He did have a weakness for cute hence the large hoard of (spoiled) strays lingering in the back of the cafe. “Alright,” He glanced at the clock on the wall nearby. “We open in less than 5 minutes.” He could already see a few morning regulars waiting around for the doors to officially open. "Also now that everyone's here I want to announce that there's going to be a meeting today. We'll hold it after closing.” Which meant no one would be going home early today. Jaeho made eye contact with Eunha, suggesting that they should talk before then.

Hearing Yunhui's grumbling had Jaeho rolling his eyes. “Shut up you like to get paid don’t you? I better not catch you slacking again today." He warned as he made his way towards the front doors. 10:30 on the dot, he opened the front doors and greeted the faces that walked in. Most of them immediately headed over to the counter to places their orders and a few tired students trickled in, immediately setting up their laptops at a table for what must be a group study session.

His day already started off bad with Jaeho ignoring his completely well articulated and valid criticism for the mint vanilla coffee, and it was only a downward slope from there. He was forced to stand out in the blazing sun, which didn't do his complexion any favors due to his lack of sunscreen, giving out the free samples that Jaeho poured. He took a few pastries and hid in the walk-in cooler during his break, which ended up lasting an extra fifteen minutes than usual before Yunhui found him and he had to go back to standing outside like a poor man. He ended up "accidentally" dropping a few on the ground and at one point started to intentionally pour the contents of the little cups out on the sidewalk and dump them in the trash when he was sure no one was looking. He returned inside to tell Jaeho he ran out of samples and was left to clean tables the rest of the day.

When closing finally rolled around and the customers coming in started getting more and more sparse, he shuffled to the back and into the room where they usually hold their meetings. He really had nothing else to do besides clean the tables and most of them were done anyway. He took the extra time he had before anyone else was there to play games on his phone.

how many carats is that?

"Oh! A meeting?" Minyeong repeated cheerily, looking up from the samples he was pouring to glance around at all of his coworkers. He searched each of their expressions for if they seemed as excited as he felt. It sounded like Jaeho had something thrilling planned for the Latteworld team.

Minyeong focused on finishing up the samples, restocking Youngha's tray until he had reached the designated goal of 300 little cups all filled up. After that task was complete, he spotted an opening at the cash register so he decided to take over. The cashier had been reaching for a pastry for someone who had just ordered and stepped aside, meanwhile, another customer was waiting to place their order. Maybe he was so eager to hop to the register because the customer waiting just happened to be pretty tall and handsome. He greeted the man with a bright smile and friendliness in his voice.

The young man continued to cashier for a while. When Youngha came in he slipped away to welcome him back inside. "Omo, they're all gone?? That was so fast! Did people come back for more?" he giggled. Youngha seemed down when he was instructed to clean up after people for the rest of the day, so Minyeong pulled him close and whispered some encouragements to him while he made his way back out onto the floor. "Don't worry, we're having a meeting tonight! Do you know what that means Youngie-hyungie? It means something amazing is happening~" he grinned.

He hopped back and fourth between barista and cashier throughout the day. For his break, Minyeong grabbed his wallet and stepped out for a sandwich from down the block. Once it was closing time, he worked with the other baristas to complete the closing checklist.

Despite working for the entire day, Minyeong radiated just as much energy as when he first saw Yunhui in the morning. Even the customers that came in during the day could notice. He was much more radiant than usual, it was almost blining. Customers would ask things like, "did something good happen?" or "he's in an even better mood than usual!" If asked directly, Minyeong would only give a short or vague reply, usually, "I'm anticipating something amazing!"

It was almost peaceful to work, and Daejung found that the day passed by quicker and easier than it did at home. And he liked that. It was comforting to think of nothing other than what his hands were doing, only worrying about taking the correct orders or giving the right amount of change. Although that was what it usually was, not when they're having a meeting. It drags on his mind for the whole day, the anticipation of it seeming to put a bounce in his step, his movements slightly more erratic as he grabs cups, and change, the excitement for news simply making him wish for their shift to end.

And for the first half of his shift it did. Working behind the till he smiled politely, striking up brief yet some what entertaining conversations with the regulars among the customers, his laugh often catching in his own excitement and cutting into the otherwise relaxed atmosphere of the shop.

At lunch, he'd grabbed his bag and headed out, giving a quick wave to Youngha as he passed by him at the front of the shop. The actual walk to the shop wasn't too long, but every lunch he cursed himself for not preparing by bringing the food in the morning, and every lunch he was still thankful that his long legs gave him enough stride to get to their and back with enough time to eat at work, sitting quietly on his phone as he tried his very hardest not to stain his creased apron.

It was after lunch that the day began to drag. With customers slowly filtering out one by one. The overhead lights suddenly useful as the day grew darker. But the last hour he couldn't seem to shift. No matter how many long he cleaned tables for, or how many things on the list they got through, it just seemed to go on.

Eventually though, it ended and Daejung was free to practically skip over to the backroom, using his shoulder to push open the door, glancing back impatiently to his friends before stumbling ever so slightly into the room. Giving himself a sheepish grin as he notices Youngha on his phone, Daejung throwing his hand half in the air in a strange attempt at a wave as he finds his usual seat.

"Oooh~ Some hot spiced tea?" Chorong sing-songed after Jaeho's casual announcement. As Minyeong and Daejung took over the registers, she went into the kitchen to work on a new batch of cookies and cinnamon rolls for the pastry case. The day was pretty typical all things considered; she restocked all their sweets and then took it upon herself to personally serve as many customers as she could, charming year-long regulars and new patrons alike. Mrs. Kim's cat's surgery had gone well, and Dr. Jung was having trouble with one of his students. Mr. Jung was visiting his family in Busan, and the other Mrs. Kim had just come back from a wild escapade with a motorbike gang. Chorong listened to all of their stories and more with a soft, sincere smile. Or a playful, teasing one, if that was what they preferred. She remained as warm and floaty as she was every day; the promise of a meeting that night seemed to not phase her at all.

That was, until the door shut behind the last customer. Chorong crossed the room as quickly as her long legs could take her, tossing her rag in Yunhui's direction without turning to look. She trusted her aim enough to know that it would hit him square in the face if he didn't catch it first. Entering the back room after Daejung, she sat in the rolling chair next to the younger man's seat and threw her feet up on his armrest. Chorong followed up with a cheeky grin so wide it almost looked like she was baring her teeth. Finally the dangerous glint had appeared in her eyes, all the more apparent thanks to the harsh florescent lighting. "Jae, sweetheart," she said as the man in question entered the room as well, "Do you have a present to share with us?" And by present she meant plan, of course. It felt like so long since the last heist, especially with the addition of that nuisance Kyungha or whatever. She could practically feel her hands itching for action. Or maybe it was just because she'd cleaned the oven without wearing gloves.

TODAY WAS RELATIVELY PEACEFUL; complaints were rare, and most customers strolled inside the cafe appearing content, finally being able to shield themselves from the glaring sun outside. Which Eunha had no problem with, the less dissatisfied customers the better. It simply meant that she wouldn’t be forced to approach the customer with a fake smile plastered on her face, and hands clasped behind her back—exclaiming something along the lines of, “I would like to apologize on their behalf. Is there anything I could do to improve your experience here at Latteworld?” Truly, it was tiring.

Aside from that, Eunha mostly kept herself busy by helping around with various tasks, or having an idle chat with a common customer. She found the days where meetings were to be held after work, to be the hardest to focus due to what was to be discussed and what’d be happening soon in terms of the illegal side of work. Her eyes would always find themselves drifting off to the clock that was near the door, watching the way the hands on the clock, constantly spun, and neared the time for closing. And soon enough the day had come to a close.

Smiling at the last customer who waltzed out the door, Eunha kept to quickly counting the money, before closing the register and scurrying to the back room where most of the others resided. Sitting down in a chair, Eunha felt herself instinctively slouch into the chair. It was the first time aside from lunch break that she’d gotten to sit down for longer than a second—it was harder being up on your feet bouncing everywhere when adrenaline wasn’t coursing through your veins in anticipation. After going through what Eunha would describe as ‘heaven’ in her chair, she sat up and looked towards Jaeho’s direction, raising an eyebrow as if hinting if he’d start talking yet.

JAEHO — mastermind.
By the end of the day the room in the back smelled like what Jae would label as success; a heady mixture of coffee and dry erase marker. While planning their next heist he’d settled in to a zone and only left the room for snacks and bathroom breaks. What he accomplished in the hours holed up in the room was pretty magnificent; a masterpiece by a mastermind he would jokingly say. A large part of the wall in the room was a combination between a whiteboard and corkboard. Photos of Song Nara and Kim Wooyeon were taped to the whiteboard. Arrows drawn from their pictures lead in all directions to long, bullet-listed notes about the couple. Jae listed their background info and relevant weaknesses they could prey on. At the center of it all were four crisp pictures of jewelry, the clear objective of their mission. Off to the wayside of the white board he jotted down the roles each of them would play in this risky mission.

He knew it looked crazy. Like the Pepe Silvia meme. He knew he looked crazy; hair tousled from running his fingers through it, black marks on his cheek from when he’d balanced the marker between his teeth to free his hands for a moment. But there was a method to this visual madness and they all knew this by now. He had a lot to cover with everyone and he was excited. If they pulled this one off they’d each be getting a fat pay off. The zeroes their bank accounts would accumulate had his head spinning from the rush. He rocked on his heels as he patiently waited for everyone to fill in the room. “Maybe so.” He playful evaded answering Chorong’s question with a quirk on his lips and mischief gleaming in his dark eyes. Once the last member shuffled in Jae leaned forward against the table. “…What do you all think about having 24,900,000 won in your bank accounts by next week?” He let the question marinate before announcing the obvious with a smirk. “The opportunity for our next heist has arrived. Gae Jeweller wants us to cater their launch party.” He pointed to the four photos of jewelry taped to the board. “And these four are their main pieces, their most expensive pieces. The layout of the venue is still unknown, but if we send Daejung to scout the area under the guise that he’s just there to get an idea on where we’re setting up our catering gear we’ll soon find that out.”

“Despite not knowing how things will be set up, distraction will no doubt be really important for this mission.” His eyes flickered to Yunhui, “Jinyoung managed to find useful information against the couple we can use.” He went over the weaknesses of Wooyeon and Nara and dropped the bomb that their engagement may not be one of love, but for business. “I was thinking… That we can use that to our advantage. If the press get wind of their sham engagement they’ll be confronted during the press conference, it’ll throw them off, probably put Wooyeon on edge enough to get confrontational at the event. That’s less attention on the jewelry.” He then looked towards their ‘socialite’ Youngha who he was hoping could be useful for once and let this info slip in one of his circles. That’d be enough to start a wildfire of gossip amongst high society attendees, enough for the press to catch wind of it. Really they just needed to get their targets to draw everyone’s attention towards themselves and away from the jewelry. Making it easier for Minyeong to slip in and out with the jewelry. They had a variety of weaknesses to choose from to pull this off. They just needed to make sure to not get caught.

Over the course of the week several meetings were held as Jae found out new information to inform everyone. Thanks to Daejung and his successful recon job, they had a layout to work with and thus found out their limitations. In the venue they found out that there were cameras installed to view the entrances of the main showroom that held the jewelry, but surprisingly there were no cameras inside the showroom itself and none watching up. Meaning that after a distraction is set off to divert the attention of the guards and guests, Jae’s idea was for Minyeong to find his way up in to the vents and drop himself down and snatch the jewellry within a minute. That’s how short Daejung felt the guards would be distracted for before remembering to check the jewelry.

Jae felt it’d then be best for Eunha and Chorong to make away with the jewelry in one of their inconspicuous catering carts. She'd bring it out the back entrance where Daejung should be waiting out back with the truck. Any problematic guards along the way could be taken care of by Chorong. Jae would stay by the catering tables and oversee the whole thing, talking in to the earpiece to make sure that everyone stayed on task and if he noticed any trouble. Although he wouldn't be the only one with eyes on the floor. Jinyoung had hacked in to the security systems, so whatever the cameras saw he’d see as well and would be able to warn them. The plan was seemed smooth, risky but doable. Well, assuming nothing went wrong, but as long as none of them are caught on film going in the room with the jewelry during the timeframe of it being stolen then none of them would be suspects.

The day of the event arrived. He'd told everyone to wear professional clothing besides Youngha who he wanted to dress casually to fit in and mingle as another form of distraction. On the way there Jae gave everyone their wireless communication pieces to put in to their ears. He also went over a last minute run-down of the plan. Usually they had more time than a week to prepare, but they had to work with what they had. Inside the venue, it was as grand as expected. There were high-profile guests and press mingling everywhere. In the background a live band played the acoustic version of some current Top 100 song. Jae made meaningful eye contact with everyone before setting off to 'work' in the back kitchen. For now they'd play their roles and serve the guest snacks, offer drinks and mingle, but when the right moment arrived they'd begin the heist.
