It all began two years ago, when a Boeing 777 landed at JFK International with all of its occupants apparently dead. Horror escalated when it turns out they were not dead, but something terrifying when the solar eclipse shadowed all sunlight. Infection spread, the human race dwindle. The one called The Master pulled its strings until finally...it set off a nuclear winter, drowning the world in darkness. A Night Eternal.
The Strain is a trilogy of horror novels penned by filmmaker Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan (whose novel Prince of Thieves was adapted into the film The Town). It sheds a new take on the vampire myth, and makes it almost a horror survival story.
