Usually what helps me is to decide a theme. For example, I may think, “fairytale/medieval clothing” and I mixed it up with the element of a swan/peacock/bird to help me find the correct color palette for it. It really helps! It looks like one aspect of your costume idea is “Futuristic”. What else would you like to incorporate into your design?
