Nightmare Vacation

It was only supposed to be a normal vacation with a friend, how did it end up like this?!

Luella drove to Franklin house honking the horn as the two were going up to Luella parents cabin for some time away and to work on a school project together. It was quiet and peaceful up in the mountains so they could get their work done together while having time to hike and do other fun things that comes with being in a Cabin in the Woods. Honking her horn again she rested against her seat waiting on Franklin to come out so they could go. Luella couldn't sleep last night at all she was excited to be going away for the weekend with Franklin, she has been good friends with him since freshmen year of High School and couldn't wait to talk gossip with him. She also wanted to tell him a secret while they were up there. "Hurry up Franklin we need to get there before dark!" She shouted out the window she had rolled down while turning up the radio listening to a current song on the radio.

Franklin grinned excitedly and jumped up off his bed, quickly grabbing his black skinny jeans pulling them on. He smoothed out his hair and grabs his large backpack filled with all the things he would need, and he quickly heads out the door, shouting goodbye to his mom and his sister as he went. He runs down the steps and straight into Luellas car, jumping onto the seat and throwing his bag into the back. "I'm here! I'm here!" He grins at her and he scrunches his nose up at the choice of the radio station, quickly turning it over. "And now that I am I'm changing this God awful music." He finds a station that he likes before turning up the volume really loud and buckling his seat belt. He had been excited for this trip since the second they had started planning it, and now that he was here he couldn't wait to get to the cabin. It would literally just be them alone for the weekend, hiking and... Ugh. Studying.

Luella giggled as she saw Franklin rushing out his house with his bag in tow. "About time!" She smiled and put the car in drive as she drove away then frowned. "Hey! Why are you always changing the station, that was a good song?" She furrowed her brow then shrugged looking straight ahead at the road. "So my mom said we can have the cabin for the weekend, so I'm so stoked to just be alone finally" Luella family consisted of 4 siblings all who were younger then her and they were quite the annoying bunch. "So what did you do before I came?" She asked trying to make small talk over the loud music. Stopping at the light she changed his station turning it off. "Since I can't listen to my station you can't either" She smirked looking at him before driving again. It would take a few hours to get there and on the way there would be a restaurant they could stop at to eat along the way.

Luella had cut him off mid song and he stopped singing along to it and glared at her. "You're so mean to me." He pouts and makes his eyes appear sad, before he goes back into his usual smile. "I literally laid in bed, all day." He yawns slightly, he had been sleeping all day. "This is my pyjama T-shirt." He says and looks down at it, a picture of a ninja laying on a bed with a Japanese manga novel. He didn't know why it was exactly this shirt that he had always chose for bed but, it was comfy. "What about you? Spend all day doing that weird shit you do?" He raises his eyebrows and crosses his arms across his chest, before smoothing his hair out and pushing it out of his face.

"Sorry" She ruffled with his hair giggling. "Wow I wouldn't have thought you as being someone lazy but you are definitely lazy" She pulled into a gas station off the highway. "What weird shit?" She looked confused then got out her wallet and left the car to go pay for the gas, coming out of the store she got a few snacks because it would take another two hours until they got to where they were going. Pumping the gas to a full tank she threw the snacks in the car at Franklin. "Got us something to eat!" Franklin was the only person she could be herself around and she thanked him for that in her nightly prayers. Getting in the car she started it back up and looked at the tank before driving off onto the highway again. Two hours had past as they were closer to the cabin, she looked over at Franklin then back on the road. "So do you want to stop at this nearby restaurant to eat dinner before we head up to the cabin or what?

Franklin annoyed Luella the entirety of the way, poking her and singing at her, his usual excited behaviour. "God yes. Snacks are one thing but I want to eaaaat!" He complains, pouting again, and he looks out of the window watching the world go by. It was a completely different place to the city they had grown up in. He grabs hold of an empty snack bag and shakes it, groaning. "I hope that I get to eat more than just candy bars and chips because believe it or not, I have an amazing figure to maintain!" He grins and winks at her. He was only himself around her, at home he was a slightly more relaxed version of himself, and at school around strangers he was cold. Bitter.

She laughed looking at Franklin then pulled into the restaurant. "Mmm it smells so good and I'm hungry so that is a good thing" She smiled grabbing her purse getting out. "Let's go eat" She walked into the restaurant as the two were being sit down in a booth. "Oh boy" She opened the menu scanning the foods and looked hard as she didn't want to eat nothing she won't finish. "So what are you going to get?" She looked up from her menu at Franklin.

"I'm going to geeeet," he says, elongating e in get so that he could think about his choice before he said it, he couldn't decide between two options. He randomly closes his eyes and puts his finger down on the menu, repopening one and then the other, he grins, "the double bacon and cheese burger." He says and grins at her, closing his menu and putting it down in front of him. There wasn't anything that he wouldn't eat, except mushrooms, he wouldn't eat those if he was forced. "What're you going to get, then?"

"That sounds good!" She smiled at him then looked at her menu. "A salad with a 8 oz steak it sounds good!" She closed her menu waiting on the waiter to come back and as she did she told her, her choice of food and looked over at Franklin. "I am so happy we decided to go to the cabin this weekend we can do so much up there and as for here people will bug us or make fun of us" She lightly smiled as it was true some of her friends didn't like that she hung out with Franklin because they thought he was a freak but she didn't see that in him. As ten minutes went by their food was placed on the table in front of them and Luella picked up her fork beginning to eat. "Have you ever been anywhere with friends before?" She asked while sipping on her water looking at him.

"Yeah once, me and my friend when I was liiiike, eight, yeah eight, we went camping once. Well really we were just in a field outside my house but, it still counts right?" He laughs a little as he hands the menus over to the waitress serving them as she goes to go and get their orders sorted. "What about you, missy, have you been anywhere with friends?" He sips a bit of his drink casually before moving his hair out of his eyes and looking at her. He was so excited for this holiday, he wasn't even nervous or anything, not that he had any reason to be right? All though, his crush on Luella... No, he needed to not think about that.

She smiled listening to him. "At eight years old you can have many adventures which is pretty neat" She lifted an eyebrow chuckling as she watched him sip on his drink. "Well of course, I've been to many sleepovers but unfortunately I've never got to leave town before" She shrugged as the waitress came back with their meals. She picked up her fork and began eating what she ordered. "I might take some of this to go since I want to get to the cabin before dark" She chewed her food enjoying it as she knew they wouldn't get nothing like this for the weekend. The holiday weekend with Franklin was going okay she just couldn't wait to do their project and relax. She even thought about telling him that she liked him.
