Events leading up to the war;
Coming forth into a new century, an empire of old almost overnight turned to a new form of government; a republic. With the monarch exiled, there came bitterness from some, but the Republic enjoyed support of the common crowds, promising to modernize the country and improve its economy greatly, saving it from the horrid crisis sweeping the world. As it went on and on, however, more and more bitterness was earned. Attempts at secularization were met with ire of the Church, failure at saving the economy brought about unrest of the people, unemployment and poverty resulted in strikes and hatreds between the classes. After nearly a decade, the fragile peace was completely broken, violence peaking. First, mild clashes broke out in the streets, then a wave of assassinations shook the parties of the Republic, opening a new chasm of hostility between the different sides. That is when the first shots were heard in cities, towns and villages alike. Open conflict was declared, alliances were forged, international support was starting to be sought.
That is where we are now, the Blacks and the Whites having both having declared the other side an enemy. There are still many negotiations for peace, but with each passing day... those seem less and less likely.
The factions;
The Blacks comprise of groups linked to each other mostly because of their opposal to their enemy or promises to each other, these are;
Children of the Republic; those, who want to see a liberal republic re-established, as the previous one has just been broken apart.
The Front; those of various socialist, communist and anarchist beliefs, the most fragile faction for sure.
The Independent; people from the conservative County up North and the more left-oriented County up East, wanting bigger autonomy for their homeland.
The Foreign Legions; volunteers from all over the world, coming here to fight in the name of freedom.
The Whites, on the other hand, are united by their desire to destroy the Republic and all of its supporters and allies.
The Iron Unity; most of the professional army, lead to an uprising by their officials, which were against the republic's direction.
The Loyal; supporters of monarchy, wanting the return of the exiled royal bloodline.
Soldiers of the Cross; conservative Catholics and the clergy, fearing the communists and despising the secularization of the Republic.
Nation's Swords; fascists and hard-core nationalists, holding the belief that a strong nation must be held together by a strong hand.
