PLOT
"Featuring the newsboys of the 1900s!"
The phrase 'Extra, Extra, read all about it' is well known in America, especially back in the newspaper days. These words were shouted by young boys waving newspapers about, otherwise known as Newspaper Boys. Of course, the sad hard truth about these newspaper boys are that they are either orphans, or from a poor family. These kids are running around, selling newspapers for a couple of quarters, to try and raise some money. Most of these kids are boys, but sometimes girls would disguise themselves so they could sell newspapers like the boys.
Little is known today about the life of those young kids in large cities who sold the daily newspaper on the street. This was not an after school job as it would become in the 1940s and beyond. At the end of the 19th century and into the early 20th century, the young kids selling newspapers were termed βNewsiesβ. This was their life, usually not home to go to, no schooling, just survival on the streets.
The boys were contractors for the big newspaper companies. They had to find a method to make a living since most were orphans or had no family available. These kids β newsies β became the family for each kid in a neighborhood.
The deal was that each child purchased a bundle of 100 newspapers, then sold them to the public. Usually, the most a newsie would make was less than 10 dollars a day. Many had to work well after nightfall to sell all their papers. The kids even had to fight with the newspaper companies when in late 1890s, the bundled cost of 100 newspaper went from 65 cents to 85 cents, so cutting their profit.
The kids, once they are recruited, enter the ladder of newsies, ranging from amateurs that just started and make the least amount of money, to the top newspaper boys, who worked with the company for a while, and are entrusted to sometimes deliver other things like small packages and letters, and also get higher wages.
This is the story of a couple of kids in the center of the world, New York, New York, just trying to make it.

ROLES
"Ya good-for-nothing kids!!!"
Top Newsboys
1/???
These boys (and girls) know the streets like the back of their hands. They're quick, reliable, and usually the older kids (around 16-19 years old). They're the ones that make other deliveries and get the highest wages.
Median Newsboys
0/???
Median newsies are more experienced than the amateurs, but not as much as the Top Newsies. They are often in charge of training the amateurs, get average wages, etc. These kids are also in the middle as far as ages go (13-15).
Amateur Newsboys
0/???
These fresh-faced novices need all the help they can get to get the hang of life as a newspaper boy. They often cling to those more experienced than them, make the least amount of money, and are usually the youngest (10-13).

RULES
"Rules are a necessary evil..."
1.
You will be required to make a CS for this RP. I will be making a thread very soon where you can post your characters. You can make it fancy, make it paragraphs, use coding, I don't care, as long as you follow all the requirements that I will attach to the CS thread before the deadline, which remains TBD for the moment.
2.
Please participate in the OOC as well as the main RP. If you're going to participate, participate fully. It's a pet peeve of mine, people that blow up the OOC and don't contribute to the main.
3.
Please be nice and respect one another. If there are any problems, please try to make amends, or tell me about it. I won't tolerate bullying or arguing.
4.
Ask me any questions you may have, and have fun!!!
