so character A is a criminal. A really bad person ya know? they don't thank the bus driver or turn in their library books and--oh right, they do real crime like murder and arson too. Basically an all around bad person.
So recently character A has fallen on some hard times. Either having to owe someone else money or getting on the bad side of the wrong people, basically they need a lot of money pretty fast if they ever want to pay back their debt. so they figure, why not just take the easy way out to make a few thousand dollars? Kidnap some rich kid, sell them at one of the many auctions on the dark web, get a few hundreths of a bitcoin and be on their merry way.
So they set their sights on character B, the 6th and least loved of one of the most powerful (not to mention riiich) people in the state.
everything goes well and the day of the auction approaches. Character A is right about to make that sweet sweet .01 bitcoin and then-
oh shit the auction got found out by the police. Character A isn't arrested and no one knows they were involved, but now they have vile creature AHEM i mean child to look after. What happens next?? only time will tell in...
