New Load Times. 10-20 seconds per page.

I'm on an old (2011?) Lenovo laptop. 2.00 GHz CPU. I don't know what else is relevant. Ever since the update, loading a page on this site and this site specifically takes 10-20 seconds when the pre-update was just as fast as any other site I visit (2-5 seconds). Is this just me? Any ideas how to improve this on my end, or is my computer just too ancient for this new tech?

It's not just you.  A large part of the loading times is because of all the things we've got updating in the background.  Once everything's done, loading times should improve greatly.
