He's quick to tell a joke or a story, but if you watch him close enough you'll notice his smile rarely reaches his eyes. Ever shifting, they scan the horizon or the corners of a room as if waiting for something to appear there.
  
  -His presence is big and boisterous. He'll sling his arm around your shoulders and buy you a drink, share a story or two, and then leave you wondering when you spilled all your secrets with nothing in return.
  
  -He's proud of his work (someone well versed in medicine is hard to come by you know) and when something goes wrong you bet he's the first to beat himself up.
  
  -If you're close enough to be considered a friend, you're close enough to rip his heart out.

  The Beginning

  Keyon was born in some coastal part of England on a nice peaceful day. Blue skies and pleasant weather, the ocean calm as it lapped against the shore, the cabin that his mother had taken shelter in was sturdy and felt like home.
  
  His life started less than peacefully though.
  
  His cries were the only sound that could be heard as his father picked him up, leaving his mother where she lay.
  
  Born to the monstrous Captain Klaus Robinson, the man left his son in the care of a woman who could barely be considered a friend in the town of Aryith. There, with barely a Guardian to be had, his father coming and going for random short visits, Keyon learned how to fight, pickpocket, and most importantly how to patch himself up.
  
  At the age of 6, his father claimed him again, dragging him aboard his ship, The Devil's Call. There, the crew of the ship treated him with as much respect as the people of Aryith, and he honed his skills in a new way with the limited amount of places he could run to.
  
  It was after a particularly harsh fight between two ships, and the lack of a crew member with medical skills, that the crew found out how good Keyon knew his way around a bandage.
  
  

  
  
  
  
  

  the rise

  Seeing opportunities within his son for the first time, Klaus started using Keyon to tend to the rest of the crew in the absence of their own surgeon. Keyon couldn't help but chase that feeling after each job, craving the validation of his father.
  
  Captain Klaus was always hungry to cause pain and chaos though. Practically an enemy to all, there were few he could call tentative allies. It was only a matter of time before he shattered the fragile relationship between father and son.
  
  

  
  
  
  
  

  The Fall

  As it normally was on days that went wrong for him, it was a bright sunny day with beautiful weather when Keyon, at the young age of 12, killed his first person. Klaus had run them into a fight with another crew, and Monty, a younger man with a way with words and Keyon’s one friend on the ship, took a sword for his Captain.
  
  Lack of experience and materials lead to the man’s death on the deck of The Devil’s Call.
  
  After that, Keyon's hatred for his father reared its hungry head once again with far more passion than previous. But despite this, he still used his position on his father’s ship to learn more about medical practices, ways to treat life threatening wounds, and even how to perform more drastic medical procedures while on a ship.
  
  It disgusted him how good he was at it.
  
  It was a stormy day, the wind howling and waves tossing The Devil's Call around like a piece of driftwood when Keyon, now a young man at the age of 20, realized he owed nothing to his father and the ship and could leave at any time.
  
  So he jumped.
  
  If you ask him why, he’ll laugh and say he saw the first rays of sunlight peeking through the storm and knew that there was a ship just on the horizon. That any ship had to have been better than the crew he was running with. But the reality at that moment, when his head plunged under the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean, was that Keyon was too tired to continue under his father’s rule.
