Mystery of Mythwater (OOC)

I like both ideas, but starting out as an Alpha and Beta fighter squad operating in both atmosphere and in space, with the option of breaking out the ground action with the mecha in their robot mode or on foot sometimes might be the best option for new players.

Just for a bit of context, here is the promised pics of the various mecha:

This is the Alpha fighter. It has three different modes; Fighter jet, Guardian (a cross of jet and robot with arms and hands, feet and legs), and Battloid mode.

This is the Beta fighter. It is a larger, faster, but less maneuverable Veritech that can connect to the rear of the Alpha and give it full Trans-Atmospheric ability to go from ground to orbit.

For the ground-based game, there is the Cyclone Ride armor.

It is a fast motorcycle that turns into a suit of powered armor. There are other models of Cyclone, but I don't want to spam this thread with my game ideas.

Kidzait would history or survival or maybe a pure athletics check be the best way to identify the creatures?

Are you trying to recall information that might help? (History)
Or if your disecting one of the creatures that would be a survival.
I'm not sure how you would use athletics to determine what the creatures are?
