Mystery of Mythwater (IC)

OOC
Here
(Eredartis flys into ghostly rage and interposes him between the monsters and Sylvestra. Then attacks!)
((Love the description for Eredartis's rage))

You place yourself between Sylvestra and the charging pack of monsters and call forth the power of your passed lover. You swing your weapon at the closest creature when it reaches you, glancing off it's fat body. You shift your stance and swing again once the creature gets within range, lashing out with your sapphire blade once more. Your attack slices into the creature's flank, injuring it's leg and knocking it to the ground. Another monster seems to lose focus and run towards it's injured companion. When it reaches it, it bends down and begins to rip into the injured creature. The monster on the ground begins to screech with a voice that sounds like a drown scream. The remaining four monsters snap at you wildly.

Monster 1: Dirty 20 Hit
Monster 2: 15 Hit
Monster 3: 5 Miss
Monster 4: 8 Miss

Two of the monsters latch onto you. Their teeth sinking into your flesh and you take 10 piercing damage (5 due to rage). The monsters refuse to let go.

Jankurr wastes no time grabbing one by the throat, attempting too snap it's neck. At the same time he throws his knee at one that seems to close for comfort.

Sherwood Sherwood
Athaclenna, You freeze as these horrible creatures flood out from the treeline. You have faced terrible looking monsters in the past but something about how they move and their numbers leaves you frozen in place. Are you in over your head with this mission?
Hand on the hilt of your rapier, you watch as the rest of your party is swarmed. There were too many creatures to count and the sporadic way they moved made counting them impossible. A grouping of five monsters surge towards you. The smell rising off of them was like animal sweat and grave dirt as they overwhelm you.
All five creatures are going to attack you, Athaclenna. If more than half hit, you will be knocked prone.

Monster 1: 6 miss
Monster 2: dirty 20 hit
Monster 3: 6 miss
Monster 4: 9 miss
Monster 5: 14 miss

Athaclenna takes 4 piercing damage.

With a sudden burst of survival instinct, Athaclenna whips her sword around, knocking the attacking creature away from her.

The creature lunges at your face with snapping teeth, it's stinking breath wafting around your face. With honed reflexes and strength to match, you easily redirect the creature's momentum to fling it away. You hear it hit the ground with a heavy thud as the next on it on you. You thrust forward at the nearest creature. The sharp point of your sword finding it's mark. Your slide the blade to the hilt into the creature's eye, the tip of your blade poking out the other side of it's body. You fling it away with a flick of your wrist and watch the other 3 creatures for the next attack.

Sylvestra watched as her comrades began to become swarmed by the monstrous invaders. If anything it truly felt like a living nightmare. She figured she'd help them get rid of some of these monsters and tend to the wounded at the same time.

The elven druid moved herself out of reach from the incoming monsters, but close enough so she could take aim at one of the monsters that had attempted to attack Eredartis but failed. The orange in her eyes grew more vivid as she chanted in Druidic the words of fire, motioning her hands as a flickering flame appeared in her hand. Then she flung her hand engulfed in fire towards the toothy monster she was aiming, hurling the flame she was holding at it.

Sylvestra casts Produce Flame to throw fire at one of the monsters attacking Eredartis.
19 to hit. 10 fire damage if it hits.

"Queen Titania aid us." Sylvestra whispered to herself in Sylvan, her eyes now shining of a deep green hue.

EbonChevalier EbonChevalier
Eredartis would suddenly feel himself relieved of the pain he had suffered just a moment ago, as a wispy green mist seemed to magically cauterize his injuries.

Sylvestra uses 1d6 of her healing pool (4d6 left) from her Balm of the Summer Court ability. Combined with her Couatl armor's ability, Sylvestra heals Eredartis for 2d6 hit points
Eredartis is healed for 7 hit points.
Eredartis gains 1 temporary hit point.

Junkerr- 5 monsters still attack you (Will update the number once you roll damage)

Eredartis & Sylvestra- 3 monsters still threaten you both. Two monsters are latched onto Eredartis's body like leeches

Cayde-6- 2 monsters still surround you. You have one still latched to you leg

Athaclenna- 3 monsters come for you still stalk around you.

The orange in her eyes grew more vivid as she chanted in Druidic the words of fire, motioning her hands as a flickering flame appeared in her hand. Then she flung her hand engulfed in fire towards the toothy monster she was aiming, hurling the flame she was holding at it.

You spell sails through the air trailing sparks. You aim proves true as the small mote of flame impacted the creature's eye. It jerked away from the heat and pain but the magical fire was already spreading across it's fat body. The creature began to behave like melting candle wax as it tried to extinguish the flames. If was not long before it crumples into a still smoldering pile.

*The power of the other world flowed through Eredartis body and he laughed at the dogged biting of the little monsters.* “Ha ha ha is this he best you can do!”
Eredartis take 10 necrotic damage from the monsters attached to your body.

The creature's jaws clamp on to you like a leech. You can feel their needle teeth sinking into your flesh. The creatures are draining something from your body as you feel a cold sensation radiation from where they are biting you. The remaining creature surges forward to attack:
The creature wildly in your face but does not land it's hit.

Cayde continues to ply his swordcraft as he targets another pair of the monsters, trying to take them out.
Cayde-6 takes 5 necrotic damage from the monster latched onto his leg. The creature's jaws denting the metal with a high squeal.

Cayde-6's sword-bearing arm is a blur with motion as the automaton swipes forward with another attack. The creature that had gotten too close screeches in pain as your sword slices into it. It tries to stand but the damage you did prevents it from putting weight on it's left leg. It collaps to the ground and stops moving. Your momentum carries your sword through the body of another, killing that one as well as it's head hit the ground before the rest of it. The remaining creature will try to join it's companion in biting your leg:

The creature's teeth bunch off your armored body without doing damage.

OOC critical strike doing 17 damage.

Athaclenna, with the threat of the creatures mounting you change your tactics. As the group of three remaining monsters rush forward to take bites out of you time seems to slow down. You smoothly side step each creature as they pass. Your sword finds its deadly mark all three times. The creatures fall to the ground, their momentum tumbling their lifeless bodies across the ground.
Your critical hit was enough damage to kill all three

“Get off my bookworms body! He’s too cute to be monster food!”

*The possessed Eredartis raised his sword and stabbed into both monster clamped to his legs.*

** Bonus to hit +6**

Junkerr- 5 monsters still attack you (Not asking you to roll again. We are moving on)

Eredartis & Sylvestra- 2 monsters 1 is clamped onto Eredartis's leg.

Cayde-6- 2 monsters still surround you.

Athaclenna- you clear out the creatures surrounding you.

EbonChevalier EbonChevalier You slash downward at the creature clamped on your leg. You blade glides through it's flesh easily, leaving a trail of frostbite along the edges of the wound. The creature yelps and falls away. The wound on it's flank folding in on itself as it crumples to the ground. The remaining monster on your leg tightens it's jaws and you feel the draining feeling creeping up your body.
((You take 5 necrotic damage as the creature drains the blood from your body. ))

Like a leech that has had it's fill, the creature detaches from you and attempts to flee (You may take an attack of opportunity if you would like).

As if some invisible switch was thrown, The rest of you watch as the remaining creatures all at once turn tail and run away. They scatter towards the tree line and head in the direction of the ruins.
(Anyone engaged with a monster can make an attack of opportunity if they would like)

After the creature vanish into the darkness of the undergrowth, the sounds of the night return. Dead creatures lay scattered in the grass around you. Upon closer inspection, you notice the bodies are drying out and crumbling like ash.

Cayde sees the monsters starting to flee, and he decides that if he can whittle their numbers down now it will mean less of them to fight later on. He swings his blade at the two, hoping to kill them both before they are out of range. As a final touch, he activates his own minor self repair sequence to restore the damage done by the creatures.

"Oh no you don't!"

Eredartis slashed downwards at the retreating monster and the one on his leg. The ghostly aura of his possession leaving an ethereal blue trail behind his arms!

"My bookworms going to need some samples!"

Sylvestra pushed a sigh of relief as the leeches-like bipedal creatures began retreating back into the darkness of the forest. Truly, these looked like creatures of nightmare, and that work was not to be taken lightly around these parts.

The most bizarre thing was that they left nothing but ash behind in their death. Were they actual living and breathing things before being brought low?

"Everyone's well?"
she called out to her peers, looking out for the injured once safety was ensured.

Athaclenna nods. "Y-yes, I'm fine. The monsters were only able to give me a little scratch. Nothing to worry about. How are you? Anyone else hurt?"

Cayde shakes his sword a couple of times to get any blood and gore off of it before sheathing his blade. With a quick look around to verify that the scene was clear of threats, he says, "I sustained minor damage, but I am still fully functional. Does anyone know what those things were? I lack the mystic knowledge of our sages to know what we just faced."

Psychie Psychie The creatures attempting to flee but do not do so quick enough. Two of them try to get one more bite out of you. This last minute decision proves to be a fatal one. Your sword finds it's mark with deadly accuracy. You slice through the monsters like hard cheese and they fall away in pieces.

EbonChevalier EbonChevalier The monsters scatter from you, causing you to hesitate. In that breif moment, the creature you lashed out at managed to get just out of range. Your attack lands, but the wound is too shallow to slow it down. You watch as it vanishes past the treeline with the rest of the pale creatures. (a 14 just barely misses)

As the thud of footsteps fade into the night, you all have a moment to catch your breath. Around you are the fragmented remains of the monsters that just attacked you. Very slowly, they are beginning to crumble into dust.

What is the party's next move?

"I've never seen anything quite like these. But... I have a feeling these creatures are tied to the nightmares somehow. Of teeth and endless pitch-black hungering void. I fear whatever is happening here, it's not only affecting the villagers in their sleep."

Sylvestra began walking towards their host's house. "I suggest we finish up resting and make for the ruins at the earliest tomorrow. I'll go check on Sam if they are alright."

A frown crosses Eredartis face. “I don’t know what these things are but I’m betting my bookworm might have an idea.” He opens his mouth wide and a fog of swirling blue energy leaves him mouth. His feet raise slightly from the ground for a moment before they fall back down. The ecstatic ghostly rage leaves him, leaves him with the pain. “Ouch…….”

Eredartis growns at the especially active pain in his leg. “Can some bandage me up? I need my blood to live and understand what hit us last night…”

Vox Angelis Vox Angelis

As you approach the door, you see a light strike on through the window o next to the back door. As you reach the steps up the the door, you notice the corner of the curtains pull up. Looking back at you, is the scared expression of Sam. Relief flashes in his eyes and he lets the curtain fall back into place. A moment passes, followed by the thunk of a lock. The door swings inward to reveal Sam. He was dressed in plain, night cloths and holding a dull short sword tightly in his hands. His eyes scan the night behind you.
"Sylvestra! are you and your party alright? I heard fighting but I could not see what was happening!" he said. Although the threat has passed, you could still hear the fear in Sam's tone.

"We have had a few injuries, but nothing so severe that I can't heal. There were creatures, bipedal leeches is the best way I could put it. Are you and your family well? They haven't tried to enter, did they?" Sylvestra replied softly, putting a reassuring hand on Sam's shoulder.

"Has these creatures been seen by anyone in your village so far?"

Athaclenna comes up to listen to the answer given to Sylvestra's question. "You should be safe enough with us here. We'll give these creatures something to deal with."
