"Growf!"
This is the story of a young woman who survives a shipwreck - right after being taken into captivity by pirates. The date of the story is left in question. I am thinking at least before the World War 2 era and as early as the Age of Piracy. The best option should allow it to be reasonable for a woman to be travelling as a passenger.
You had been sailing in the South Pacific when your ship was attacked by pirates. Unable to evade or outfight the pirates, your ship was soon captured. The pirates boarded and the slaughter began. Forced to accept the inevitable, the Captain surrendered.
The pirates took what they wanted. Loot and their choices of women. They avoided married women. Neither did they seem to care for children. Rather they preferred only single women. When they were done looting and taking their slaves, they scuttled the ship, leaving the crew to their fate. (They had lifeboats at least.)
But the pirates didn’t make it very far before some beast attacked their ship from below. It wasn’t even a fair contest. A single hit caused so much damage that it was certain that the pirate ship was doomed.
Your character will awaken sometime later in a bedroom with fresh clean clothes waiting, any injuries treated. (If you didn’t have clothing easily recovered, the clothes provided will be men’s clothing and probably ill fitting. He’s not exactly a seamstress.)
Optionally
Your character is not the only survivor taken. And the attackers could be Nazis at the very early stages of WW2. (The Nazi U-boats hunted even civilian ships for the tonnage.) Or … both ships could be sunk during the initial attack and survivors from both sides of the conflict be taken prisoner.
My Character
I am going to be roleplaying a character who fills the role of Nemo. Only this version will be young and handsome - and not immune to the charms of a lady. But he is a recluse and really doesn’t want people around. He regrets saving anyone at all. But the fact that he did so suggests that he is not a complete monster.
