Fred strolled along the corridors of Hogwarts slowly, no skip in his mischievous step today. The boy walked along, his eyes sticking to the paintings on the walls distractedly as he walked, sighing occasionally. Eventually, his gaze shifted to the floor as he continued to walk along. There was something on this boy's mind that kept him somewhat melancholy, and that was a rare occasion.

He had been going through a breakup, this one tougher than previous relationships. He found himself missing his dear friend, Angelina Johnson. It certainly wasn't anything he had held against any relationships before her, but calling those relationships was generous terminology indeed. Besides, Angelina was a good friend of his. He had hated to see her hurt.

So when he spotted her being comforted by a stranger who he couldn't quite make outfrom that distance, he walked closer by and approached the two of them. George, who had been walking beside him and making the occasional joke to try and cheer him up, saw what was coming and immediately ran towards him to stop him, but it was too late. Fred had already approached the two.

"Angelina," he said simply.

Chelsea was frustrated. And annoyed. And honestly a lot of other emotions that she was too aggravated to try and name. Angelina was one of her best friends. The two of them had been close since their first year and they always tried to spend time with each other whenever they could. It wasn’t as common since she had started to date Fred Weasley, but Chelsea was okay with that.

However, she was not okay having to help her friend through a breakup because of him. She was not pleased that she had dealt all morning with Angelina crying, and when she finally stopped, Chelsea had to try and reassure her that maybe it was for the better.

“I mean, you two were only dating for a couple of months, right?” Chelsea said, looking at her. “Maybe—“

She found herself cut off when she heard footsteps approaching and she looked over to see a tall redhead and a twin behind him. Fred Weasley. Chelsea’s eyes narrowed slightly at the sight of him and she took a more protective stance next to Angelina.

“Hey.” Angelina said quietly, looking at him.

Fred stared for another moment, struggling to find the words he needed to say. "I, um," he stammered. He kicked himself internally. Usually he was much wittier. He stopped and took a breath. "I wanted to, uh, speak with you," he began. Fred felt his brother's eyes burning into him as he pondered what he should begin with. His eyes began to flicker around, eventually meeting the eyes of Angelina's friend who, it seemed, had been comforting her and, judging by her expression, was not happy with him. Flustered, Fred turned back to Angelina and his expression darted away quickly.

There were many things he had wanted to say. Though the two hadn't gone out as long as most couple did, he felt the need to let Angelina know that he was truly sorry. Perhaps it was for the best. She would find someone that she deserved, and as his expression flickered momentarily back to the girl that had since protectively shifted towards her friend, he thought that they both had the friends that they needed to get them through this. And maybe Fred would find someone too.

But for starters, it most certainly wouldn't be the girl that hated him upon introduction. And Fred couldn't blame her. Her first impression, after all, was that he was a boyish fool who had simply dumped her friend. He glanced back to Angelina, awaiting a response anxiously.

Chelsea was already not a fan of this guy. Not just because he completely broke Angelina’s heart and it would affect not only her grades, but her Quidditch performance too, but because he thought that she wanted to talk to him. She just broke up with him and he couldn’t seem to stay away. Chelsea wasn’t sure if she was impressed by his bravery or sort of annoyed by it.

“I don’t think she wants to talk to you.” Chelsea said, looking up at him.

Usually she would’ve been careful talking like that to someone who was quite a bit taller than her, but she couldn’t really find a way to be intimidated by him. He just wasn’t scary. And knowing his name and how he pulled harmless pranks just made him less scary to her.

“Chels, it’s okay.” Angelina laughed softly, looking at her friend with a little smile and then to Fred as it faded. “What is it?”

Chelsea definitely felt a little embarrassment right away. She was just trying to make sure that Angelina didn’t get her heartbroken all over again, even though she was fairly sure that Fred wouldn’t ask her to go out with him again. Chelsea was just protective over the people that she considered friends. It was in her blood and she didn’t really care to try to change that. So she kept her arms crossed and relaxed them a little bit, almost unimpressed. Her cheeks were warm with embarrassment.

Fred breathed a sigh of relief when Angelina welcomed him into the conversation. He found himself somewhat intrigued, though not surprised, with her friend's reaction. She seemed to care quite a bit for Angelina. Chels, Angelina had called her. Was her name Chelsea?

He snapped back into focus and looked back to Angelina. "I just... wanted to say that I'm sorry. I never meant to hurt you. I hope you know that. And I hope that once this is all over, we can still be friends." Though he couldn't see his brother, he sensed George behind him breathing a sigh of relief for Fred not making a complete git of himself. Fred was, admittedly, somewhat relieved himself.

Chelsea was surprised, to say the least. She hadn’t expected what was going to come out of his mouth to be something that was actually nice and honest. Angelina wasn’t the first friend that she had to help through a heartbreak, and usually when their ex-boyfriend came calling, it was never a positive interaction to say the least.

Angelina was quiet for a moment and then she smiled as she looked up at him. “I’d like that. To be friends again.”

Chelsea was starting to feel even more embarrassed. It seemed that the guy really meant no harm and Chelsea had sort of barked at him like an angry dog. That wasn’t fair. But she still stood there with her arms crossed, watching him. She knew that the guilt would catch up to her later and she would have to apologize to him. That was just part of who she was, and she wished that she could change it, but at the same time it had saved her hide on quite a few occasions.

A relieved smile crossed over Fred's face. "Brilliant," he murmured. "I'm glad to hear it." He stood for a moment, before realizing that perhaps now was a good time to leave Angelina alone with her friend. He cast a glance over his shoulder at his brother. George also seemed antsy, wanting Fred to come along with him and go on about their mischievous day. "I guess I'll... see you around, then." He gave a small, brisk nod, followed by another to Chelsea, with a small wave in greeting. "Fred Weasley. Pleasure. Sorry for having interrupted," he said sincerely, before giving a small, witty wink to the two of them to maintain his humorous demeanor.
