YC, in debt, finds himself working under a wealthy and enigmatic gallery owner in a foreign country, suddenly thrust into an unfamiliar world with no support system (...and, optionally, only a rudimentary understanding of the language).

The gallery doesn't just deal in fine art though - it's a stage for its owner's curated collection of apprentices. YC quickly realizes that the gallery owner doesn't just deal in art; he deals in people, fostering their potential while binding them to his influence. Among these other "employees," all unique in their own stories and talents, YC is surrounded by potential alliesโ€”or rivals.

And when the sun sets, the gallery's polished facade falls to darker dealings, where the black market intertwines with the art world's elite. YC must learn the ropes to survive, balancing the gallery owner's stringent expectations against a host of strange clientele and simmering tensions among his peers. Vying for recognition and favor, the atmosphere is often threaded with jealousy, competition, and fear. But there is also solace to be found in fragile moments of genuine connection. Maybe even love.

Hi! I'm Kris. 30. Scientist by day and amateur author by night.

This story is compatible with both modern, historical, (light) fantasy, or blended settings. I'm open to your ideas! Gritty/dark is a must for me on this plot. You're welcome to double+ if you like, or solely play YC, whatever works best for you.

You can expect my writing to be rich in detail without unnecessary fluff. I'm character-driven and dynamic, leaning in with a 'yes, and' approach. I like to play with syntax and I'm not married to third person past tense. Response frequency on my end can be anywhere from 2-3 posts per day, to 2-3 per week, depending.

Shoot me a DM if you're interested. Looking forward to hearing from you.
