Multiple Roleplays and Usage of Dead Characters.

Hello everyone! I wanted to ask, is it generally considered okey for someone to use their character in multiple roleplays, even if it dies in one of those?

*Shrug* I do it all the time, and nobody's complained about it. So I'm pretty sure it's fine.

You can play as many characters as you like in however many roleplays you want as long as they fit the story and the GM is okay with it.

Usually when I discontinue a character it's because that character has had so much story in one RP that I cannot RP them again in another, and honestly if people are getting butt hurt over using a character multiple places, then they need to see if the fun police has any positions open for them.

I wouldn't think it would be an issue. How would they even know you were using the same character in different stories anyway, unless they were stalking you or something? Personally, I enjoy using the same character in different stories because each one is unique, so I can explore how they would respond in situations they wouldn't encounter in another. Everybody is different, of course, but I don't think many people would have a problem with that.

I used to use the same character for every roleplay, still use him every once in a while. He's died like half a dozen times, has had ten different backstories, and I can still manage it/

I love reviving dead/unused characters every couple of years, giving them a fresh new coat of paint, new powers, and maybe some other backstory, like a 2.0 or A New Generation.

It just makes them so much more interesting!

Like others have said, there is no issue with using the same character for multiple stories.

The way I see it, by expanding those stories, it gives room for more development! c':

i feel like it's sometimes necessary to reuse old characters once their origin stories have started to gather dust. it's hard to describe, but it seems like characters always act unnaturally the first time around - because you have to get to know them like they're real people before you can understand who they really are. to just discard a character when they've finally been developed enough not to be awkward is a waste, if you ask me.

I would never judge someone for transferring a character, but I'd never do it myself. I feel that characters are unique to a story, even if that story never gets finished.

Your character is solely your own, meaning nobody else has a right to dictate or control how you decide to use them. That applies to any aspect of roleplaying, I believe.

You may have to modify the character(s) a slight bit for them to fit into the story, but as far as I can tell, it works to have a single character in multiple roleplays.
